  • Patent number: 8308502
Abstract: An electrical arrangement for a motor vehicle includes a starter cable electrically connected with a vehicle battery, a terminal head conductor electrically connected with the starter cable, a terminal base conductor electrically connected with a starter motor, and an electrically nonconductive terminal enclosure defining a cavity in which the terminal head conductor and the terminal base conductor are positioned. The vehicle battery is electrically connected with the starter motor when the terminal head conductor contacts the terminal base conductor in the cavity. The terminal enclosure includes a weakened section offset from the terminal head conductor such that breaking of the terminal enclosure at the weakened section to form a free edge of the terminal enclosure and disconnection of the terminal head conductor from the terminal base conductor results in the terminal head conductor remaining in the cavity and spaced from the free edge.

  • Patent number: 8302479
Abstract: The intensity of first reflected ultrasonic waves reflected from an end of a first electrode tip is measured while the electrode tip is separated from a workpiece. The intensity of second reflected waves reflected from the end of the electrode tip is measured while the electrode tip contacts with the workpiece. Based on the above intensities, an intensity ratio (reflectance) and the fraction of the waves entering the workpiece are determined from the following equations: reflectance=(intensity of second reflected waves)/(intensity of first reflected waves) fraction of waves entering the workpiece=1?reflectance. From a predetermined correlative relationship between a contact area of a region enabling ultrasonic waves to be incident on the workpiece and the determined fraction of the entering waves, a ratio (contact area ratio) is determined between a total area of the region and a contact area of the region contacting with the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 8304731
Abstract: An infrared light detector with an infrared light sensitivity thereof further improved. According to the infrared light detector, an isolated region of a first electronic layer is switched between a “disconnected status” and a “connected status”. Under the connected status, saturation of an electrostatic charge quantity of the isolated region in the disconnected status is eliminated, and consequently, saturation of a variation amount of an electrical conductivity of a second electronic layer is eliminated. Therefore, the infrared light sensitivity is further improved by time integration of the variation amount of the electrical conductivity of the second electronic layer.

  • Patent number: 8306701
Abstract: It is possible to drive a motor (7) with a high output during a low-speed travel and perform steering with a high resolution during a high-speed travel. An electric power steering device (1) causes the motor (7) to generate an auxiliary torque based on the steering torque specified by a driver for operating steering wheels (9), thereby reducing the steering torque specified by the driver. A control device (10) uses the vehicle speed signal (Vs) from a vehicle speed sensor (11) so as to drive the motor (7) with a high output during a low-speed travel and perform steering with a high resolution during a high-speed travel without increasing the motor output. Moreover, during a low-speed travel, a large steering torque is required and during a high-speed travel, steering should be performed with a high resolution. Thus, the driver's feeling in steering is not affected.

  • Patent number: 8303521
Abstract: A walking assistance device providing an assistance force to a user is provided. The device compensates for an influence of an inertial force of the device itself. An actuator drives leg joints such that a total sum of supporting forces acting on the leg links from a floor side is a target total lifting force. The total sum of supporting forces acting on leg links from a floor side in reaction to a vertical inertial force generated in the device due to a motion of the device and the gravity acting on the device is estimated as a force which compensates for the self weight of the device. The total sum of a target value of a lifting force to be applied to the user and the estimated value of the force which compensates for the self weight of the device is defined as a target total lifting force.
