Patent number: 5384495Abstract: A door operation control system has a door opening for moving a door between open and closed positions. A door operator control circuit selectively operates the drive means to move the door between the open and closed positions. An obstruction detection device detects whether there is an obstruction in the path of the door between the open and closed positions and generates a signal in response thereto. The obstruction detection device is connected to the control circuit by wiring to permit operation of the door opener in the absence of a signal from the obstruction detection device and to prevent certain operations of the door opener in the presence of a signal from the obstruction detection device. An error detection circuit detects faults or errors in the wiring and generates a signal to prevent certain operations of the door operator when the faults or errors are detected.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 1993Date of Patent: January 24, 1995Assignee: GMI Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Dennis W. Patent number: 5368795Abstract: Aqueous ceramic slurries suitable for use in the forming of sintered ceramic bodies are formed by combining a) ceramic particles, b) an aqueous polymer emulsion containing an ethylene/vinyl acetate polymer, and c) water. The slurry is dried to form a free flowing powder which is then dry pressed to form a shape. The shape is then fired to remove the polymer and to sinter the ceramic particles thereby forming the sintered ceramic body. These binder systems do not require the use of organic solvents. The binder systems provide improved formability and green strength.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 1993Date of Patent: November 29, 1994Assignee: Ferro CorporationInventor: Tariq Quadir

Patent number: 5344082Abstract: A tribo-electric powder spray gun includes a diffuser for mixing powder with a conveying gas, a charging portion downstream of the diffuser, and a sprayhead at the outlet of the charging portion for dispensing the charged powder. The charging portion has an inner core removably positioned within a hollow outer cylinder with an annular gap formed between the outer cylinder and inner core providing a charging flowpath for the powder. The inner core and the outer cylinder have undulating or wavy charging surfaces made of an electrically insulating material, so that the annular gap provides a tortuous path for the powder, enhancing powder contact and the charge imparted to the powder. Grounding is provided by surface conduction of the electrically insulating contact material through a ground ring located outside the powder path at the inlet to the charging portion of gun where the greatest amount of charging occurs.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1992Date of Patent: September 6, 1994Assignee: Nordson CorporationInventors: Curtis B. Patent number: 5341989Abstract: An electrostatic powder spray gun includes a hose purge adapter connected in the hose line that supplies powder to the gun. The hose purge adapter is connected to a supply of purge gas and allows the powder flow path in the hose line and the powder flow path in the gun to be quickly and conveniently purged of accumulations of powder. By facilitating purging of the powder flow path, the purge adapter prevents accumulations of powder that may tend to come loose as a soft lump of powder, usually different in color, and cause an imperfection on the surface of the object being coated. The purge adapter also reduces the collections of powder in the flow path in the hose line which facilitate a grounding path by the powder, resulting in possible shocks to the operator and in a high current draw into the gun which can result in poor transfer efficiency.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 1993Date of Patent: August 30, 1994Assignee: Nordson CorporationInventors: Terrence M. Fulkerson, Robert R. Pallante
