Patent number: 4691494Abstract: A metal framing system for building structures wherein the members have continuously roll formed and fabricated "C"-shaped, "T"-shaped, and "I"-shaped cross sections and wherein the flanges at their distal edges excluding plate members, include a roll formed multi-purpose end and surface fastener recess extending the length of the member. These recesses are adapted to supportedly receive threaded fasteners for use in conjunction with both interconnection of pre-punched transverse plates at the ends of the members and also for attachment of wall covering against the flanges of the members. This recess and extended distal edge, while providing full functional flange width, also eliminates "Q" column flange loss while substantially stiffening the distal edge of the flange. "C" section studs and joists members may have two additional end fastener recesses added to the webs where a total of four fasteners are required per member for attachment to plates.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 1985Date of Patent: September 8, 1987Inventor: Jacob M. Patent number: 4665665Abstract: A building structure is formed using four by eight foot plywood panels as raw material because of their ready availability. Hexagonal pyramids are formed by first cutting a panel diagonally to form two right triangles. These two right triangles are joined to form a triangular section having a height equal to its base. Six such sections are joined to form the hexagonal pyramids. Pentagonal pyramids are formed by cutting the panels using the eight foot lengths as the dimension of the hypotenuse. Each panel can produce two triangles and they are combined to form an equilateral triangular section. Five of these sections are combined to form each pentagonal pyramid. Reinforcement pyramids are joined in the interior of each pyramid. These are similar to the pyramids they reinforce, but of one half the size. The pyramids are combined using them as substitutes for the plane hexagonal and pentagonal surfaces of regular and semi-regular polyhedrons.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 1985Date of Patent: May 19, 1987Inventor: Don G. Patent number: 4630640Abstract: A flow regulator valve has a first fluid opening at one end and a second fluid opening at the side of the valve body. A sleeve bore extends from the first opening and contains a stem which is co-axial with the sleeve bore, but spaced from it. A compensating spool is slideably mounted between the sleeve bore and the stem and may move to completely close the second opening or to provide partial opening. A control spring biases the spool to the open position, but a fluid passage through the stem wall permits the pressure of the fluid at the first opening to be applied to bias the spool to the closed position. A valve element containing an orifice establishes the nominal flow rate desired, while the pressure drop across the spool causes it to assume a position to maintain the desired flow rate. A valve element control spring may be used to maintain the valve element in the "off" position until the pressure rises to a desired threshold. Venting of the cavity in which the valve element is located is provided.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1985Date of Patent: December 23, 1986Assignee: Sun Hydraulics Corp.Inventor: Ernest A. DiBartolo

Patent number: 4627797Abstract: A standby aquarium pump is disclosed which contains a direct current power supply and relay means which will automatically connect this power supply to start the standby pump when alternating current power is interrupted causing the AC powered pump to stop operating. An alternate embodiment provides rectified alternating current as the normal power supply and the direct current power as a standby or auxiliary power source. A rotary direct current motor is employed to drive a reciprocating piston type air pump using an operating rod eccentrically mounted in a flywheel mounted on the motor drive shaft. Electric shock hazard is reduced by containing all 120 volt alternating current connections in a separate housing secured to the main housing. Thus, the main housing can safely be opened to install or replace the batteries by the user who will be exposed only to the low voltage direct current elements.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 1985Date of Patent: December 9, 1986Inventor: Robert W.
