Abstract: Mite eggs are killed by applying thereto N-tetrachloroethylthio-substituted halomethanesulfonamides of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, X is fluoro, chloro, bromo or iodo and R' is tetrachloroethyl.
Abstract: Herbicidal compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein X is hydrogen, fluoro, chloro, bromo, iodo, trifluoromethyl, trichloromethyl, alkyl, alkoxy or cyano and n is 1, 2 or 3.
Abstract: 4-HALO-5-ARYL-1,2,3-DITHIAZOLE, USEFUL AS FUNGICIDES, OVICIDES, INSECTICIDES AND HERBICIDES, ARE PREPARED BY REACTING A N-aryl cyanothioformamide and a sulfur dihalide in the presence of a catalytic amount of a formamide compound or quaternary ammonium salt.
Abstract: O,S-dihydrocarbylphosphoroamidothioates and S,S-dihydrocarbylphosphoroamidodithioates have a high degree of insecticidal activity with relatively low mammalian toxicity.
Abstract: Improved-strength particulate ammonium nitrate containing minor amounts of ferric phosphate is produced by forming the ferric phosphate in situ in aqueous or molten ammonium nitrate from a ferric salt and phosphoric acid. Further improvement in strength is obtained by additionally incorporating minor amounts of calcium sulfate.
Abstract: Calcium and barium bis-O,S-dialkyl-N-alkanoylphosphoroamidothioate salts have high insecticidal activity and are substantially more stable than the corresponding O,S-dialkyl-N-alkanoylphosphoroamidothioate compound.
Abstract: Vinyl 2-arylthiovinyl and vinyl 2-alkylthiovinyl sulfones, having fungicidal and algicidal activity, are prepared by the addition of arylsulfenyl halides or alkylsulfenyl halides to divinyl sulfone and the dihydrohalogenation of the resulting 1,2-addition product.
Abstract: Compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are independently alkyl of 1 to 8 carbon atoms, or alkenyl of 2 to 8 carbon atoms, R.sub.3 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and R.sub.4 is hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, alkenyl of 2 to 4 carbon atoms, aryl of 6 to 15 carbon atoms optionally substituted with halogen atoms or alkyl groups of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or an acyl group of 2 to 4 carbon atoms, with the proviso that R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 may be joined to form an alkylene radical of 2 to 5 carbon atoms. The compounds possess insecticidal and herbicidal activity.
Abstract: Triazines of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is chlorine, methoxy or methylthio, R' is alkyl, alkenyl or alkoxyalkyl; R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are hydrogen or alkyl; R.sup.6 is alkyl, aryl or haloaryl; and Y is oxygen or sulfur, are useful as herbicides.
Abstract: Compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are hydrogen, halogen, hydroxy, alkyl or alkenyl optionally substituted with halogen atoms and R.sup.3 is a haloalkyl, haloalkenyl or aryl group, possess morphogenetic hormonal mimetic insecticidal activity.
Abstract: N-substituted-thio N-alkyl carbamoyl chlorides are prepared by reacting an N-arylthio- or N-aliphaticthio-N-alkylamine with phosgene. The N-arylthio- or N-aliphaticthio-N-alkyl carbamoyl chlorides are useful intermediates for the preparation of pesticides.
Abstract: Fungal growth in animal feedstuffs is inhibited by the use of di-carboxylic acid esters and compositions thereof. In addition to inhibiting the growth of fungi, the di-carboxylic acid esters increase the nutritional value of the animal feedstuff treated, and promote greater weight gain and feed efficiency response in animals fed the treated feedstuff compositions.
