Abstract: An apparatus and method for rewinding large rolls of paper into smaller rolls, such as bathroom tissue rolls. The rewinder includes three rolls forming a winding cradle and winding control fingers operating adjacent to and in the winding cradle. Upper and lower winding rolls are spaced apart far enough to allow a core to be introduced between them by the winding control fingers. A rider roll moves relative to the winding rolls to control the diameter of the paper roll being wound. The lower winding roll is preferably equipped with two sets of winding control fingers which can orbit around the roll and introduce the core between the winding rolls, separate the web, guide the web around the core and remove the completed log from the winding cradle.

Abstract: A retractable sootblower for avoiding and dislodging accumulated soot and ash. The sootblower includes an elongate housing and a blowing tube or blowing tube assembly reciprocable in the housing. The blowing tube is extended and retracted by pressurized gas. Pressurized gas is also applied to the sootblower. An internal gas channeling arrangement couples the pressurized gas to the blowing tube when the blowing tube is extended. The pressurized gas is thus discharged from the blowing tube when the blowing tube is extended. Additional structure is provided for rotating the blowing tube as it moves from the retracted position to the extended position.
Abstract: A package comprising a figurine and a model book or a model magazine bearing information relating to the figurine. The model book or the model magazine preferably comprises a small replica comic book featuring a character represented by the figurine. One preferred embodiment includes a display stand for the figurine with the model book or the model magazine coupled to the display stand. A transparent front and rear cover can enclose and support the model book or the model magazine in a visually attractive position relative to the figurine.
Abstract: A rotating log saw clamp having a clamp infeed section and a clamp outfeed section located adjacent a log saw blade. The clamp infeed section and clamp outfeed section are coupled for rotation together with the log during sawing of at least a portion of the log by the log saw blade.

Abstract: The method for immobilizing water-soluble bioorganic compounds to capillary-porous carrier comprises application of solutions of water-soluble bioorganic compounds onto a capillary-porous carrier, setting the carrier temperature equal to or below the dew point of the ambient air, keeping the carrier till appearance of water condensate and complete swelling of the carrier, whereupon the carrier surface is coated with a layer of water-immiscible nonluminescent inert oil and is allowed to stand till completion of the chemical reaction of bonding the bioorganic compounds with the carrier.

Abstract: An apparatus for applying thermal therapy to a prostate gland, comprising a support tube having a longitudinal central passageway, a power lead channeled through the longitudinal central passageway and an ultrasound crystal disposed around at least part of the support tube. The ultrasound crystal is coupled to the power lead which provides the power to energize the ultrasound crystal and generate ultrasound energy providing thermal therapy to the prostate gland. The ultrasound crystal further includes inactivated portions for reducing ultrasound energy directed to the rectal wall of the patient. A sealant is disposed in contact with the ultrasound crystal allowing vibration necessary for efficient ultrasound energy radiation for the thermal therapy to the prostate gland.

Abstract: A method of providing thermal therapy to prostate tissue of a patient. The method includes: inserting a mechanical separator or infusing a fluid to separate human tissue to be treated from nontarget tissue, thereby providing thermal insulation and other beneficial effects, and applying the thermal therapy to the target tissue.
Abstract: A method of preparing a dried fertilizer composition from poultry manure, minimizing decomposition and degradation of organic nitrogen, to achieve a total nitrogen content of about 3 to about 7 percent by weight.
Abstract: A beverage container assembly (28) comprising a container body defining a beverage chamber for containing a beverage, and a gas reservoir unit (1) adapted to be housed substantially within the container body (22). The gas reservoir unit (1) is adapted to be charged with a gas under super-atmospheric pressure whilst the reservoir unit (1) is outside of the container (22), and to retain the gas prior to insertion of the unit into the container body. A gas reservoir unit containing one or more chambers is also described.
Abstract: A comb and dispenser unit for grooming hair or fur. The unit includes a reservoir having an outwardly flared base with a flat bottom surface upon which the reservoir can be stably stored. A handle portion is coupled to the reservoir and includes a pliable pump actuator in communication with the reservoir and a nozzle. A comb is coupled to the handle portion and has comb teeth extending away from the handle portion in planes substantially parallel to a plane defined by preferred actuation of the pump actuator. A nozzle is contained in a nozzle portion coupled to the comb portion for spraying a fluid pumped from the reservoir into the hair or fur being groomed. The nozzle sprays fluid above the engagement points of the comb teeth and the hair or fur.
Abstract: A pushbutton console latch is provided. The latch includes a cylindrical housing for housing a pushbutton therein. The pushbutton incorporates a lost motion feature such that when a pushbutton is in the locked position and depressed, the bolt of the latch remains extended. However, when the pushbutton is rotated to an unlocked position, a pushbutton may be depressed thereby retracting the bolt.
Abstract: Two vehicles are transported in tandem by a beam assembly connecting a lead vehicle to a trailing vehicle which is reversed end-for-end. The beam assembly includes an elongated beam which is connected to the rear and extends lengthwise of the trailing vehicle. The beam extends beyond the rear end of the trailing vehicle and is elevated and connected to the rear end of the lead vehicle at a height such that the rear wheels of the trailing vehicle are raised above ground. The connection of the beam to the lead vehicle permits the beam to swing both laterally and vertically.
