  • Patent number: 6345427
Abstract: A coining die apparatus for reshaping the backing plates of spent rotary drum brake cores in the production of remanufactured brake shoes comprises a lower die having a concave working surface configured to support a convex outer surface of a brake core backing plate to be coined. A moveable upper die includes axially-spaced outer die portions and a middle die portion between the outer portions having convex working surfaces. The middle and outer die portions are spaced laterally to accommodate a pair of mounting brackets extending from a convex inner surface of the backing plate. The middle die portion enters between the brackets when the dies are closed to strike and reshape a corresponding middle region of the backing plate between the brackets, while the outer die portions strike and reshape corresponding side portions of the mounting plate adjacent either side of the mounting brackets.

  • Patent number: 6170249
Abstract: An energy guiding chain is disclosed for accommodating cables and hoses. The chain has laterally spaced parallel side-plates (1) with upper and lower cross-members (2,3). A cross-sectional space for said cables and hoses is defined by the side-plates and the upper and lower edges of the side-plates. The cross-sectional space is expanded by at least one of the cross-members being detachably mounted on the side-plates by connector parts (7). The cross-member is a bracket including bracket body (2) and a mounting member (6) at each free end of the body with a mounting member connector-part (8) for engagement by connector parts (7) which are engageable by movement of the mounting member connector-part in the lateral direction toward a plate connector part.

  • Patent number: 5992441
Abstract: A fuel vapor vent valve for a motor vehicle is connected to an upper wall of a fuel tank in vertically depending relationship. The valve has a cover with a vapor exit passage connected to a fuel vapor storage canister and a body depending from the cover. One embodiment has a vapor exit port that communicates with the fuel tank interior adjacent the upper wall of the fuel tank. A vent tube has one end connected to the vapor exit passage and an opposite end that communicates with the vent exit port and defines a valve seat. The vapor exit port is located with respect to the valve seat so as to separate liquid fuel particles from vapor flow during fuel fill. The valve seat is closed by a valve element attached to a float when the fuel tank is full. Several further embodiments of the valve have the body connected to the cover to accommodate side impacts to the fuel tank.
