  • Patent number: 5810253
Abstract: A device for the controlled dispensation and unattended evaporation of volatile liquids includes a housing that accommodates a reservoir charged with a volatile liquid. The reservoir has an outlet for releasing the volatile liquid from a lower end of the reservoir. A valve mounted on the reservoir controls the flow of the volatile liquid through the reservoir outlet. The valve allows a controlled quantity of the volatile liquid, in the form of discrete droplets, to be gravitationally delivered, on demand, to an absorbent matrix. A matrix housing supports the matrix below the reservoir outlet. The absorbent matrix absorbs volatile liquid that the outlet delivers and dispenses the volatile liquid as a vapor to an external environment. The absorbent matrix dispenses the vapor via a ventilator that may be either releasably or integrally mounted to either the matrix housing or the housing that accommodates the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 5806880
Abstract: A cover assembly for concealing an automotive vehicle air bag restraint assembly with an air bag, an air bag housing and a gas generator located in the housing for supplying gas to the air bag in response to vehicle impact. The cover assembly includes an inner retainer panel secured between the air bag and a vehicle passenger compartment. An air bag door is mounted within an opening in the retainer panel. A hinge connects the door to the retainer panel and allows the door to swing open under the force of an inflating air bag. A foam layer is sandwiched between an outer skin and the retainer panel and extends across both the retainer panel and the air bag door. A weakened tear-seam is formed in an outer surface of the outer skin and runs parallel to and adjacent an edge of the door opposite the hinge. A rigid applique is supported in a layered disposition over the outer skin to conceal the weakened tear-seam from passenger compartment occupants.

  • Patent number: 5806928
Abstract: An air cell system for vehicle seat and mattress applications includes an air cell constructed from facing sheets of flexible air-impermeable material that are sealed along their marginal edges. A gap is provided at a prescribed location along the seam to accommodate and air tube. The portion of the air tube received in the gap has a generally diamond shaped cross section including a central tubular region and opposed lateral side sections that taper radially outwardly in order to occupy correspondingly shaped regions of the gap. The shaped end of the air tube is sealed to the facing cell layer material to provide an airtight, unstressed seal therebetween.

  • Patent number: 5802727
Abstract: An electronic compass is described for use in vehicles. The compass employs a magnetoresistive sensor for sensing the earth magnetic field and the sensor is operated in alternate set/reset bias modes. In a first embodiment, the compass is provided with deviation compensation by a closed loop system including measurement of the sensor output signals and an offset current strap for nullifying the vehicle deviation field. In a second embodiment, deviation compensation is provided by operation in an initial calibration mode and by operation in a normal calibration mode to adjust compensation, as needed, on a long term basis during normal operation of the compass. In the initial calibration mode, while the vehicle is being driven, the signal peak values are adjusted to a nominal earth field level by changing the offset current. Then, compensating signal reference values for each axis are determined as each peak for that axis is determined.

  • Patent number: 5799959
Abstract: A manually propelled, two-wheel supported hand truck for use in transporting products has a frame normally supported by the wheels in generally vertical inclination and comprises connected side rail members, and a fixed frame handle surface near its upper end. The frame supports a forwardly extending, load supporting nose plate. An axle, coupled to and extending crosswisely rearwardly of the frame journals the wheels. Supports on the frame side rail members journal a laterally extending pivotal brake applying rod having spaced apart brake shoes in a first position out of brake applying engagement with the wheels but aligned therewith, the rod being pivotal to move the shoes to a second position into braking engagement with the wheels. Fixed to the brake applying rod is a lever arm connected to a generally vertically extending rigid member.

  • Patent number: 5797660
Abstract: A vehicle wheel has an annular rim, a hub, and a plurality of wire spokes coupling the rim and the hub. The rim has an axially extending web provided with tire locating beads. In some embodiments those ends of the spokes joined to the rim extend through the web whereas in other embodiments the rim is provided with a flange radially inward of the web to which the spokes are joined. The rim has circumferentially spaced scalloped or sculptured zones the surfaces of which are inclined relative to the axis of the rim, thereby enabling the spokes to be coupled to the rim at axially spaced points and distribute the forces acting between the spokes and the rim over a relatively greater area axially of the rim.

  • Patent number: 5797298
Abstract: A one-piece molded plastic fuse handling tool includes a pair of spring arms that diverge outwardly from a base portion to free ends defining a constantly widening gap between the arms. A pair of opposed fuse-gripping jaws are provided across the gap adjacent the free ends of the arms and another set of opposed fuse retaining seats are provided a location intermediate the jaws and the base portion. The jaws are closeable about a fuse by pinching the arms together enabling the fuse to be removed from its spring clip. Once removed, the fuse is secured to the tool by sliding it into the narrowing gap into position between the retaining seats. A block-out portion projects from the base portion and is configured for installation within the vacant fuse clip so as to disable the fuse clip to prevent inadvertent reinstallation of the fuse therein, while storing the fuse in adjacent proximity to the fuse clip.

  • Patent number: 5791865
Abstract: A bag palletizer has a frame equipped with two tier guides, two pallet lift mechanisms, two stacker work stations, and a lift control at each work station. A belt conveyor delivers bagged articles successively to both work stations. A pallet is supported on each pallet lift mechanism and raised until it abuts the bottom surface of the associated tier guide. Bags are manually removed from the conveyor and placed atop the pallets to form a lowermost tier on each pallet. After each lowermost tier is formed, the pallets are lowered by the respective lift mechanisms the height of one tier to provide sufficient space in the tier guides to form another tier atop the lowermost tier. These steps are repeated until a selected number of tiers are stacked atop each pallet at which time each pallet and its stack of bags are removed.

  • Patent number: 5791490
Abstract: The invention relates to a separator comprising a separator housing with an inlet spiral for separating air which opens tangentially into an annular separating chamber and is divided into a plurality of delivery channels which lie one above the other, as well as a basket-shaped separator rotor disposed centrally and with a vertical axis in the separator housing and a guide vane ring which surrounds the latter with a radial clearance. In order that this separator on the one hand has a high effectiveness of separation between oversize material and fine material and on the other hand facilitates a sufficiently broad grain size distribution of the fine material, the overall shape of the separator rotor is that of a cone which tapers downwards.

  • Patent number: 5788460
Abstract: Masonry blocks conveyed in side-facing-side relation toward a cubing station for assembling into multi-tiered stacks are fed to a prepositioning station where the blocks are separated into groups of three and the trailing two blocks in each group are reoriented 90.degree. into a so-called tie pattern with the other block. The two trailing blocks remain in parallel relation and extend lengthwisely in the direction of conveyance. The tie-patterned groupings are fed to a patterning station where they are relatively repositioned as necessary into the arrangement predetermined by the particular tier pattern being assembled. Once properly oriented, the block groups are transferred to the cubing station.
