  • Patent number: 5004371
Abstract: The invention is a new type of locking mechanism for office panel systems which allows quick joining or separation of connecting panels without the need for tools. This is accomplished by the invention of a spring-loaded "tab and slot" locking mechanism, whereby the opposing tabs from the connecting vertical panel end, enter and lock into matching slots on the other panels by way of a spring-loaded sliding locking bar. Joining adjacent panels requires only that the panels be aligned and firmly pushed together, while separation is allowed by pulling down on the metal rings attached to the bottom of the opposing locking bars and pulling the panels apart.

  • Patent number: 5002177
Abstract: A conveyor or case drive mechanism includes a continuous chain loop having two or more drive motors positionally spaced there along. A sensor is associated with the motors for sensing slack in the chain at the associated motor. When a predetermined amount of slack in the chain is no longer present at the motor, the sensor presents an output signal which, through a speed control device, increases the rotational speed of the associated motor until generation of the requisite slack in the chain has been achieved. Each motor in the chain drive loop has a sensor structure associated with it such that each motor provides a motive force to the chain.

  • Patent number: 5000357
Abstract: A soft drink dispenser capable of rapidly dispensing carbonated beverages with minimized foaming action. The syrup and soda are dispensed separate from each other and allowed to mix upon the ice in a cup placed beneath the dispensing head. The dispensing of the syrup and soda is staged to minimize foaming while achieving optimum beverage taste. Syrup is dispensed from individual pumps which communicate with a bulk supply. The syrup is consolidated in the pumps, preventing waste or the introduction of "slugs" into the dispensing line. The temperature of the syrup is monitored and compensation is made during the dispensing cycle to accommodate changes in viscosity. In generating soda, water is precooled and then introduced into an insulated tank where it is subjected to pressurized carbon dioxide. In the pour head, a cluster of soda orifices are peripherally encompassed by syrup orifices, certain of which are angled to cause the syrup to convolute the stream of soda.

  • Patent number: 4988360
Abstract: An interface fitting module (10) for fitting the interface portion of an ischial containment socket for an above-knee amputee. The module (10) has a sleeve-like body portion (11) with proximal and distal ends (12 and 13), respectively. At least the proximal end (12) of the body portion (11) is open to receive the residual thigh (15) of an above-knee amputee. Means in the nature of a lap joint (25) are provided selectively to adjust the peripheral dimension of said body portion (11) so that it will circumscribe, and engage, the peripheral thigh (15) to the desired degree. The body portion (11) of the module (10) is sufficiently transparent to permit visual observation as to the conformity between the body portion (1) of the module (10) and the residual thigh (15) received therein.

  • Patent number: 4926390
Abstract: A paint mixing container comprising a main body (2) of circular cross section with a base (4), side walls and an open top (6). There is a stirring arm (40) comprising a rotatable central shaft (42) with a helical blade (43) rigidly mounted about the central shaft. As well, there is a removable cover (20) with locking means (12,52) to allow the cover to be attached to the main body. The removable cover has a sealable opening (22) and means (24) to rotatably support the stirring arm in the interior of the main body.

  • Patent number: 4892234
Abstract: A dispenser closure (10) for a container having a normally vertical axis and an off-center recess (14) in the top thereof wholly containing a laterally rotatable spout member (20) in its closed position. The spout member is adapted for rotation to an upwardly inclined open position projecting outwardly beyond the peripheral flange (11) of the closure.

  • Patent number: 4784500
Abstract: A hub-axle assembly (10) and lubrication system thereof includes a spindle (11) having an inner end (12) and outer end (15) with inner (13) and outer (14) bearing assemblies spaced axially on the spindle (11). A hub body (16) is rotatably supported on the bearing assemblies (13, 14) and has a wheel mounting flange (17) extending radially outward therefrom. Lug bolts (18) extend axially outward from the flange (17) with one such lug bolt (18) having an axial bore (24) therein. Grease applied at a grease fitting (23) in the axial bore (24) is transmitted to a lubrication chamber (19) within the hub body (16) via tubing (25) to lubricate the lubrication chamber (19). A circumferential recess (27) in the hub body (16) has at least one aperture (28) therein which is normally closed by an O-ring (29) positioned in the recess (27).
