  • Patent number: 4114467
Abstract: A snap-on wear pad is adapted to be used on conveyor chains. The wear pad includes a resilient, generally cylindrical body portion of a length adapted to fit between the opposite inner side bars of a conveyor chain. The body portion has an axial through hole and an axial entrance slot communicating with the through hole from the outer surface of the body, whereby the body can be snapped onto and resiliently held around the chain roller, bushing, or pin. The wear surface comprises an integral tab portion on the surface of the body opposite the entrance slot, providing an abrasive-resistant sliding surface and means to prevent rotation of the wear pad about the chain roller, bushing, or pin. An alternate construction comprises a composite two-piece wear pad assembly in which identical wear pad halves are similarly snapped onto the chain roller, bushing, or pin from opposite sides to provide a wear surface for both sides of the chain.

  • Patent number: 4101180
Abstract: A roller assembly for use on a conveyor chain to provide rolling support for the working run thereof includes a roller journaled on a mounting bushing and held thereon from axial displacement by a double sealing ring arrangement at each roller end face. The double sealing rings are arranged to provide a labyrinth seal to aid in the retention of lubricant within and the exclusion of contaminants from the assembly, and the inner ring of each pair also provides an axial thrust bearing surface for the roller. The sealing rings are preferably of L-shaped cross section and are adaptable for use with rollers of either metal or platic construction.

  • Patent number: 4063656
Abstract: A system for moving and unloading articles includes a movable carriage having a container which is pivotably mounted upon the carriage and adapted to carry a plurality of loose articles. As the carriage moves toward an unloading station, the container pivots about its axis. During approximately the same time interval, a door which is pivotably mounted to the container is unlatched and pivots toward its open position. Preferably, the time sequence is such that the door is fully opened prior to the container reaching its maximum pivot angle. The pivot angle of the container is greater than the angle of repose on the articles, thereby causing the articles to slide out of the container across the open door and onto a conveyor which forms part of an unloading station. After the articles are unloaded, the carriage moves away, the door is closed, and the container tilts back to its normal position.
