  • Patent number: 6253582
Abstract: A print-receptive, pill-resistant, knitted fabric and printed article of apparel. The fabric is knitted from yarn formed from high-tenacity, staple synthetic fiber having a tenacity value of greater than about 4 grams/denier and preferably about 6 grams/denier. The resulting knitted fabric has a pilling resistance value of greater than about 3. In the preferred embodiment, the high-tenacity, staple synthetic fiber is selected from the group consisting of air jet spun polyester; nylon; acrylic; and polypropylene. The use of staple fibers improves the hand, drape and comfort of the knitted fabric. Also, in the preferred embodiment, the knitted fabric is a double-knit fabric having a front side and a back side, the front side being formed from the high-tenacity, staple synthetic fiber and the back side being substantially formed from cellulosic yarns, such as cotton and synthetic cellulosic fibers.

  • Patent number: 6238572
Abstract: An apparatus for the separation of immiscible liquids from liquid influent has a containment vessel. An influent channel extends toward the bottom of the vessel so the influent is discharged vertically upward, a downwardly curved deflection plate is mounted above and aligned with the discharge end of the influent channel, and a plate with a downward slope from a central location extends toward the periphery of the vessel in a lower portion of the vessel than the deflection plate. This permits the influent to move radially outwardly thus slowing the influent and providing a residence time for gravitational separation of lighter immiscible liquids from the influent. A gap between the downward slope plate and the discharge end of the influent channel permits gravitational release of trapped immiscible liquids. A transfer tube, a sensor, and a pump are provided to pump the separated immiscible liquids out to a remote location.

  • Patent number: 6234228
Abstract: An apparatus for securing a sheet of filter material about the circumference of a dye tube. The apparatus includes a mandrel support table having a tube loading station, a sheet wrapping station, a sealing station, and a discharge station; hollow, air permeable mandrels supported on the table; a table drive to sequentially index the mandrels to each of the stations; a vacuum chamber extending from the tube wrapping station to the sealing station to draw a vacuum inside each mandrel at and between the wrapping and sealing stations; a tube feeder for feeding tubes onto mandrels at the tube loading station; a sheet feeder for feeding sheets of filter material into engagement with tubes at the wrapping station; a mandrel drive for rotating each mandrel at the wrapping station to wrap the sheet around the circumference of a tube supported on the mandrel; and a sealer at the sealing station for sealing the sheet to itself to cover the tube.

  • Patent number: 6234854
Abstract: A boat drive mechanism is constructed of an engine mounted in the boat; a propeller; a drive shaft having a front end connected to the engine and a rear end extending through the exterior of the transom; a propeller shaft having a rear end connected to the propeller and a front end, with the propeller shaft being moveable between a lowered position and a raised position; and a universal joint connecting the drive shaft rear end to the propeller shaft front end and spaced from the rear of the transom, the universal joint being the sole thrust connection between the drive shaft and the propeller shaft. A propeller tube surrounds at least a part of the propeller shaft. The propeller tube and shaft are raised and lowered by a first hydraulic cylinder pivotally connected to the propeller tube and the transom above the drive shaft.
