  • Patent number: 8319357
Abstract: A portable power driven system has a manually movable frame. In one example, an internal combustion engine and a generator device that generates AC power are supported on the frame. The internal combustion engine drives the generator device. An electrically powered starting device is coupled to the internal combustion engine. A control panel is coupled to the frame and includes at least one AC outlet and a battery receptacle that is electrically coupled to the starting device. The battery receptacle is materially the same as a foot of a cordless power tool that receives a battery pack. According to one aspect, the battery pack for the cordless power tool may be permanently mounted in the battery receptacle and provides electrical power to the starting device. The battery receptacle may be contained in an enclosure. The enclosure may provide biasing members urging the battery pack into the battery receptacle.

  • Patent number: 8096456
Abstract: A fastener driving tool arranged to drive fasteners into a workpiece includes a support, a pair of sub-assemblies movably mounted on the support, each sub-assembly comprising a motor and an associated flywheel, and a nose part retractable relative to the support. The tool is arranged such that, in use, when the nose part is retracted, its movement relative to the support mechanically forces the sub-assemblies toward each other. The forcing of the sub-assemblies toward each other by the retraction of the nose part may move the sub-assemblies from an inoperative position to an operative position.

  • Patent number: 8057196
Abstract: A compressor assembly includes a compressor coupled to a motor via a belt drive. The belt drive provides a speed reduction between the motor and compressor and causes the compressor shaft to rotate in the direction opposite that of the motor shaft. The relative values of the mass moments of inertia about the axes of rotation of the rotating motor and compressor shafts are engineered to be inversely proportional to the relative shaft speeds, allowing the mass moments of inertia to be balanced to at least substantially eliminate torsional vibration.
