Abstract: A pistachio huller is provided wherein a means having projections pushes unhulled nuts between the surface of the means having projections and a surface of a means having slots, the slots being narrower than the pistachio nuts to be hulled. The projections protrude into the slots and the hulls are ruptured and abraded through contact between the surface of the means with projection and the surface of the strips forming the means having slots whereby the nuts are hulled.
Abstract: An improved temperature sensing and control apparatus for a spa is described, which control apparatus is located at the spa. A switching means is disposed in the series electrical circuit of a water heating mechanism. The switching means is remotely controlled as a function of the water temperature and operates in the low voltage and low current range, thereby minimizing a safety hazard.
Abstract: A robe adapted for use by incontinent individuals having a front panel extending continuously from the neck downward to about the feet of the wearer and extending across the front of the body of the wearer; upper rear panel forming sections from either edge of the front panel around the sides and across the back of the wearer to the middle of the back, and including means for securing together the upper sections; sleeves having first ends secured between the front panel and the upper rear panel-forming sections with longitudinal openings extending throughout the length thereof and being shaped to cover at least the shoulders of the wearer; lower rear panel forming sections extending from either edge of the lower part of the front panel, the lower sections being adapted for wrapping around the legs of the wearer; and, the upper and the lower sections being spaced apart along the edges of the front panel such that the upper and lower rear panel forming sections separate when worn in a sitting position so as not

Abstract: In a photometric solution analyzer of the rotary type wherein a carousel includes a multiplicity of improved cuvettes, the carousel being journaled on a shaft driven by a motor, the analyzer further including means for permitting transfer of radiant energy from a source thereof to a detector therefor along an optical path passing through at least part of each of the cuvettes, the cuvettes being disposed about the carousel for receiving and mixing a reagent and a sample, each improved cuvette comprising a sample holding means being disposed in each cuvette for receiving the sample, the sample holding means being located radially outward from the center of the carousel, and a chamber being disposed for receiving the reagent, the chamber being located below the sample holding means and radially inward of the sample holding means, the chamber further being disposed in the optical path so that radiant energy is passed therethrough, whereby rotation of the carousel causes the reagent in each cuvette to flow towards
Abstract: A new and improved thimble for sewing, particularly a thimble of flexible material; which allows the thimble to conform to the finger for fit and comfort; provides a supple surface to allow the user to actually feel the needle; and provides a protective means located near the closed end of the thimble for covering part of the normal fingertip and fingerprint area, to protect the finger from the penetration of sharp objects.
Abstract: A method of enhancing an embossed translucent flexible sheet material is provided wherein extremely fine lenslets on at least one surface of the sheet material are coated with inking solutions to thereby generate visual display patterns. Further, secondary processing may be added to provide optimum contrast, overall material sparkle and brilliance when viewed from the viewing side.
Abstract: An apparatus for selectively blocking movement of a part of a device employing said apparatus which is particularly useful in preventing the unauthorized firing of a weapon or removal of screw caps or operation of other touch actuated devices. The apparatus typically comprises a magnetically actuable member mounted to a resilient material which material is mounted to the device for selectively disposing the magnetically actuable member in a conflicting relationship for blocking movement of the part. Magnetic means is provided from without the device and juxtaposed the magnetically-actuable member for attracting or repelling the member out of the blocking relationship with the part whereby the part is free to move.
Abstract: An apparatus for selectively blocking movement of a part of a device employing the apparatus which is particularly useful in preventing the unauthorized firing of a weapon or operation of other touch-actuable devices. The apparatus typically comprises a magnetically actuable member slidably mounted in a housing and magnetic biasing means juxtaposed the magnetically actuable member for maintaining the member in blocking relationship with the part. A magnetic means is provided from without the device for overcoming the attraction or repulsion of the matnetic biasing means, whereby the part is free to move.
Abstract: Trigger or touch-actuated or screw-cap actuated safety device for trigger or touch-actuated or screw-cap actuated mechanisms is provided having a pivotally mounted magnetically responsive bar positioned on the inside of the handle on the rear of the trigger. When the bar is oriented centrally, sufficient movement of the trigger is inhibited to prevent actuation of the device. The bar may be mounted in a non-magnetizable casing. The user of the device, by wearing a magnetic ring, displaces the bar from its central orientation and allows for sufficient movement of the trigger for actuation. The present invention may also be employed to selectively inhibit operation of touch-actuated devices.
