Abstract: A system for grounding telecommunications cable rack assemblies and the like. The system comprises the positioning of an electrical conductor element beneath each end of at least one of the U-shaped clamp elements of a clamping junction between adjacent cable rack sections. The conductor elements comprise means for piercing the non-electrically conductive painted surface of the adjacent cable rack sections and forming electrical continuity therebetween through the clamping junction when the U-shaped clamp elements thereof are tightened on the adjacent cable rack sections.
Abstract: A ladder leg extender apparatus for attachment to the leg of a ladder to lengthen the leg as required to support the ladder on an uneven support surface. The apparatus comprises a sleeve secured to a shortened leg of the ladder which slidably carries an extendible support leg therein for movement inwardly and outwardly of the sleeve to adjust the length of the leg. Infinitely variable vertical adjustment of the support leg is achieved by (1) loosening two turn bolts which secure the support leg between the bolts on one side and a coarse file on the other side thereof within the sleeve and then (2) tightening the bolts when the support leg is properly slidably adjusted with the associated ladder is in an upright and level orientation.
Abstract: A portable apparatus for rapid on-site reduction of elevated body core temperature for use by individuals suffering from heat stress induced by activity in a hot, humid environment. The apparatus comprises a transportable housing having an air conditioner mounted therein and a hooded, cooling garment removably stored within the housing. A plurality of flexible air supply hoses serve to fluidly connect the air condition to the garment when the garment is removed from the housing for use.

Abstract: A vertically adjustable manhole cover assembly providing for ease of vertical adjustment and stable support of the manhole cover subsequent to roadway resurfacing. The manhole cover assembly utilizes annular adjustment rings at both the bottom and top of a vertically adjusted annular sleeve positioned within the annular frame of the manhole cover assembly for support of the manhole cover. The upper annular support ring includes an annular flange extending radially outwardly beyond the annular frame which is captured by the roadway resurfacing material so as to provide additional support to the vertically adjustable manhole cover assembly after road resurfacing.

Abstract: A method for making an improved all-dielectric, self-supporting (ADSS) fiber optic aerial cable with improved mechanical coupling between the primary and secondary strength elements. The method includes calculating the required degree of mechanical coupling (Kc) between the primary and secondary strength elements in order to avoid relative slippage therebetween and then selecting suitable cable elements so as to make the fiber optic cable with a degree of mechanical coupling at least equal to the calculated Kc value.

Abstract: An adjustable clamp for holding and/or carrying selected articles comprising an elongate handle member defining a first channel therethrough extending generally in the lengthwise direction thereof and a second channel which perpendicularly intersects the first channel. Abstract: A pneumatic apparatus for withdrawing and recycling goods from defective blister packages on a blister packaging machine comprising a housing which is positioned on the blister packaging machine between the detection station and the sealing station and having a plurality of transversely spaced-apart open chambers in the bottom thereof. A plurality of air valves are connected to a high air pressure source and to the blister package machine detection station, and each air valve corresponds to a respective chamber in the bottom of the housing. Abstract: A body lumen measuring instrument for insertion into a body passageway such as a bronchial tube or the like in order to determine the interior lumen diameter and/or axial length of the passageway at a predetermined location. This instrument can also be used to aid selection of a radioisotope capsule of proper size to be properly positioned at a specific location for tumor treatment. The measuring instrument includes a flexible sleeve having a handle secured to one end. A cable is slidably positioned within the sleeve and secured at one end to a slide actuator within the handle and at the other end terminates in a probe adapted for determining body passageway size under endoscopic observation. A measurement scale is associated with an indicator on the slide actuator in order to display the passageway size.

Abstract: A portable outrigger assembly for use to enhance the stability of a boat. The outrigger assembly comprises an inflatable hull, a tube for supporting the inflatable hull in spaced-apart relationship to a sailboat, and a hull attachment member for securing the inflatable hull to the tube. The hull attachment member includes arms to selectively change the cross-sectional shape of the inflatable hull so as to modify the lift capability thereof as desired.
Abstract: A yard broom for sweeping leaves, pine needles and other debris from a yard having a base with a plurality of bristles anchored in the bottom thereof in at least one row of spaced-apart apertures. Flexible plastic handle means is secured to the base and adapted for flexing radially outwardly a sufficient distance during a sweeping motion of the broom to snappingly urge the base and bristles forwardly near the end of a sweeping motion to aid in clearing debris therefrom. The handle means comprises a plastic pipe which will radially flex at least 3 inches during a sweeping motion of the yard broom.
Abstract: A door closer adapter/replacement assembly for converting a doorway equipped with an interiorly mounted door closer unit for usage with an exteriorly mounted door closer unit. The assembly comprises (a) a bushing positionable on an exteriorly protruding spindle of the interiorly mounted door closer unit, and (b) an arm including a tongue affixable to a door fitting the doorway, and a structural portion defining a cavity which is matable with the bushing. The bushing and the structural portion of the arm defining the cavity are constructed and arranged such that the arm is free-spinning on the bushing. The assembly is employable on spindles of both header (overhead) mounted and floor mounted door closer units, and obviates the need for disassembly of the overhead structure or threshold of the doorway, so that the concealed door closer can remain in place while the door is adapted to use with an exteriorly mounted door closer unit.

Abstract: A collapsible light shade for a portable light such as a flashlight having a handle with a collapsible umbrella shade mounted at one end thereof. Abstract: A hollow fiber membrane bioreactor process for continuous selective removal of organic toxicants or other oleophilic solutes present in an aqueous process stream wherein low concentration levels of said toxicant are removed from the aqueous process stream by being extracted and concentrated by the permeably selective hollow fiber membrane and then provided to a microorganism for metabolization into a water soluble metabolite. The water soluble metabolite is prevented from reentering the aqueous process stream and removed from the bioreactor in the aqueous nutrient effluent stream.
