Patent number: 6776318Abstract: A holder for a mobile telephone includes a generally tube-shaped body comprising an exterior and an interior cavity having an opening at a first end of the body and an opening at an opposing second end of the body. The interior cavity has a surface comprising a material having frictional properties allowing the device to be slidingly inserted by hand into the interior of the tube-shaped body. The tube-shaped body is semi-rigid and sufficiently elastic so that the body can stretch to allow the hand insertion of the device into the interior of the body and can retain the inserted device in the interior of the body. The tube-shaped body can be positioned on a belt so that the belt extends through the interior cavity and out of the first opening and the second opening. A mobile electronic device can be slidingly inserted into the interior cavity, thereby stretching a portion of the body to cause the tube-shaped body to retain the inserted device in the interior cavity.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2002Date of Patent: August 17, 2004Inventor: John D. Patent number: 6679103Abstract: A continuous flow moisture analyzer (20) determines moisture content in a liquid sample material (46). The moisture analyzer (20) includes an injection system (44) for delivering the liquid sample material (46) at a controlled rate. The injection system includes an injector tube (48). An evaporator (52) has a first end (50) for receiving the injector tube (48) and a second end (56). The injector tube (148) provides the liquid sample material (46) to the evaporator (52) at the first end (50). A carrier gas inlet (54) is in fluid communication with the second end (56) of the evaporator (52) for providing a carrier gas (58) to the evaporator (52) at the second end (56). The carrier gas (58) absorbs moisture from the liquid sample material (46) in the evaporator (52). A relative humidity sensor (78) in fluid communication with the evaporator (52) detects the moisture in the carrier gas (58).Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2000Date of Patent: January 20, 2004Assignee: Arizona Instrument LLCInventor: William G. Patent number: 6604332Abstract: A barrier assembly for a skylight well opening includes a framework having a peripheral frame sized to circumscribe the light well opening. The framework can be secured in a position relative to a ceiling surface so that the peripheral frame circumscribes the light well opening. A grillwork is adapted to mate with the framework in a closed position wherein the grillwork and framework define a panel space. A light-transmissive panel is sized to fit within the panel space between the grillwork and the framework. The grillwork is hingedly attached to the framework so that that the grillwork and framework can be moved between an open position and the closed position. The grillwork is adapted to releasably attach to the framework in the closed position.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2000Date of Patent: August 12, 2003Assignee: Pure-Logic Industries, Inc.Inventors: Michael Anthony Hughes, Thomas Keath Skripps

Patent number: 6561012Abstract: A continuous flow moisture analyzer (20) includes a coaxial needle (34) having first and second needle portions (36, 38). The first needle portion (36) receives a carrier gas (24) and expels the carrier gas (24) through an output orifice (60). The second needle portion (38) has an input orifice (62) for receiving the carrier gas (24) expelled from the output orifice (60). A housing (40) encloses the output orifice (60) and the input orifice (62) when the moisture analyzer (20) is in a standby mode to obtain a baseline moisture content of the carrier gas (24) within the moisture analyzer (20). A bottle (48) retains a sample material (50). When the analyzer (20) is in an active mode, the coaxial needle (34) penetrates a septum (52) of the bottle (48) to position the output and input orifices (60, 62) in the bottle (48). The carrier gas (24), expelled from the output orifice (60), absorbs moisture from the sample material (50) in the bottle (48).Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 2000Date of Patent: May 13, 2003Assignee: Arizona Instrument LLCInventor: William G. Sadler

Patent number: 6401407Abstract: The present invention provides an earth anchor to secure a cover over a trench or hole in the ground. The device has a retaining cap which is attached to a rod. Extendible arms are connected to the rod below the cap. The end of the rod opposite the cap is inserted into the hole or trench until the cap rests at ground level, either on separate cover plates or on the ground itself. For large holes, the cap retains separate cover plates over the hole; for small holes, the cap acts as a cover itself. The arms are extended by a jack screw, rack and pinion, or other means until they contact the substrate or underside of the cover plates and clamp the same between the cap and the arms. The cover can be removed by reversing the motion of the jack screw or rack and pinion, and retracting the arms, thereby freeing the device to be removed from the whole.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 1999Date of Patent: June 11, 2002Assignee: Stay-Put Safety Plate Distribution, Inc.Inventor: Doy T. Humphrey

Patent number: 6186361Abstract: A liquid dispenser for use with a disposable liquid supply container and a method of using the dispenser is described. The dispenser regulates the flow of liquid by way of a clamping device which substantially seals the liquid from the ambient air. A support for holding the container in an elevated position above the clamping device contains guide flanges which are used to adjust the area in which the container is positioned in the dispenser to accommodate several volume sizes. The liquid flows from the container by gravity through a connector passage which is regulated by the clamping device. In a preferred embodiment, a cooling device is provided to cool the liquid as it flows from the container.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2000Date of Patent: February 13, 2001Assignee: Creamiser Products CorporationInventor: Charles F. Patent number: 6155889Abstract: A battery terminal connector for connecting a battery cable to a battery terminal post includes a clamp body, a compression ring and a compression plate. The clamp body has a tapered hole for loosely receiving the battery terminal post. The conductive compression ring has a tapered inner peripheral wall and a tapered outer peripheral wall and is sized to fit into the tapered hole of the clamp body and over the battery terminal post. The taper of the inner and outer peripheral walls of the ring are opposed to each other. A compression plate is mounted to the clamp body and includes a flange for pressing the compression ring into the tapered hole to compress the ring and achieve tight electrical contact among the terminal post, the compression ring and the clamp body. The clamp body, the compression ring and the compression plate are made of a material having a hardness of at least about 60 on the Rockwell B scale.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 1999Date of Patent: December 5, 2000Assignee: Lightning Audio CorporationInventors: Robert Scarla, John Kohutich

Patent number: 6101831Abstract: A portable evaporative cooler is constructed from a housing having at least one opening fitted with an evaporative medium pad, and an exhaust vent. This cooler includes a pump for dispersing water over the evaporative medium pad, and a bottom pan for receiving the water, the pump cooperating with the bottom pan to permit water to recirculate. A fitting on the housing permits the cooler to be connected to a water source, the fitting including a valve (such as a float valve) for automatically filling the cooler when the water level in the bottom pan is below a predetermined level. An exhaust fan draws air into the housing through the evaporative medium pad and out the exhaust vent. Finally, the housing is fitted with a convenience device (such as a beverage server or tool tray).Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 1998Date of Patent: August 15, 2000Assignee: AdobeAir, Inc.Inventor: Ted Ciccone
