  • Patent number: 6802471
Abstract: The invention relates to a multiple use cord-attached wrap-up device and optional accessory tool holder designed for use with hand-held electrical tools, electrical kitchen and bathroom appliances and cords of all types. The cord wrap-up device comprises a flat body member molded from resilient plastic or rubber having an integrally attached split cylindrical sleeve for attachment onto an electrical cord. The sleeve is designed to permit the wrap-up device to slide along a cord while remaining attached thereto. Arcuate recesses are provided at each end of the body member to receive and retain loops of an electrical cord. A number of cord trapping eyelets are located along one side of the body portion which are adapted to receive and grip the otherwise loose leading or trailing ends of a looped cord to prevent it from unwinding.

  • Patent number: 5836858
Abstract: A safety weight lifting frame 10 comprising a generally omega shaped bar 12 having weight supporting lateral extensions 14 on the ends thereof. Lift arms 16 are pivotally connected to opposite sides of the bar for movement in generally vertical planes. Swivel couplings 23 at the upper ends of the arms removably support either separate handles 24 or a continuous bar 30. The pivoted arms lower the center of gravity of the weight frame and permit a user to exercise a muscle group through the full range of motion in a single lift.

  • Patent number: 5360421
Abstract: A washable and reusable absorbent garment designed to be fitted about the waist and legs and covering the groin and anal areas of a wearer. The garment includes a number of superimposed layers of textile material sewn together along their edges. Elastic material may be sewn in the material around the leg openings and waist to improve the fit. A liner material covers the inner surface of the garment. The liner layer of the garment or that portion which is next to the wearer's skin is a knitted bicomponent textile comprised of a brushed polyester outer layer which is interknitted with a nylon block co-polymer inner layer. The materials function to transfer moisture in both vapor and liquid form from the polyester side to the nylon side where it is dispersed and made available to the garment's second or absorbent layer. The two specific materials in the liner adjacent the wearer's skin and absorbent material work together to maintain a high degree of comfort for the wearer even after it has been wetted.

  • Patent number: 5277676
Abstract: A method for enabling a person to apply gentle gravity traction to his spine by suspending his body by the arms while supporting some of his weight with his legs. The method, which is a modified form of "long axis-extension" gravity traction, describes a procedure wherein a trained therapist designs and supervises a treatment program unique to the individual based on a number of factors. The patient is at all times able to control the amount of weight that is applied to the injured portion. The patient is instructed in carrying out a treatment program and monitored as to progress and possible changes to the program. An apparatus is disclosed that is uniquely designed for use with the method. It is preferably constructed entirely of wood except for fastener elements and may be assembled and disassembled quickly without the use of any tools.

  • Patent number: 5156580
Abstract: An apparatus for enabling a person to apply gentle gravity traction to his spine by suspending his body by the arms while supporting some of his weight with his legs. The apparatus is preferably constructed entirely of wood except for fastener elements and is designed to be assembled and disassembled quickly without the use of any tools. Included is a method of hanging from a support for treating an injured spine using a modified gravity traction procedure from that generally referred to as "long axis extension." A user grasps a support that has been positioned at a height such that he is able to maintain his spine and upper leg or thigh portions vertically aligned and with his lower leg portions horizontal to the floor and toes touching the floor enabling him to control the amount of weight to be supported by his arms.
