Abstract: A dense, sintered ceramic material having a low dielectric constant, a low firing temperature, and a low coefficient of thermal expansion is provided from a mixture of 0-30 wt. % alumina, 30-60 wt. % fused silica, and 30-70 wt. % of a glass comprised of PbO, B.sub.2 O.sub.3, and SiO.sub.2. The mixture has a minimum sintering temperature in the range of 800.degree.-900.degree. C., and can be formed by conventional manufacturing techniques. It is particularly useful for the fabrication of single or multilayer electronic circuit substrates.

Abstract: X-ray attenuating polycrystalline ceramic materials having at least 20 wt. percent cerium oxide are disclosed. In addition, the materials can include one or more X-ray attenuating substances selected from the group including compounds of strontium, zirconium, yttrium, niobium, molybdenum, neodymium and tungsten. The materials can be formed in strong, non-porous bodies such as cathode ray tube funnels.
Abstract: A thin-film metal conductor system using a zirconium adhesion layer is disclosed. The system is formed by first plating a layer of zirconium over a substrate material and any electrical components, such as resistors, which are fixed on the substrate. A conductive layer is then deposited over those portions of the zirconium layer which are to provide conductive pathways. The resulting unit is thermally treated in an oxidizing environment, such as air, to oxidize the exposed portions of the zirconium layer and thereby form regions of zirconium oxide. The zirconium oxide is nonconductive and protects underlying components from moisture and physical abrasion.

Abstract: X-ray attenuating ceramic materials having at least one substance selected from the group including compounds of strontium, zirconium, yttrium, niobium, molybdenum, neodymium and tungsten are disclosed. A zinc compound can be used for fluxing and X-ray attenuation in certain ceramic materials. The materials can be formed into strong, non-porous bodies such as cathode ray tube funnels. Such materials include forsteritic porcelains manufactured from batches containing strontium zirconate. Other X-ray attenuating ceramics contain a mixture of X-ray attenuating substances, including a compound of barium.
Abstract: A connector to a fishing rod object in side-by-side alignment is disclosed. The connector includes a channel to receive fishing line and/or leader so that the segments can be held side-by-side, for storage or transportation, without removing tackle and reeling in all the line.

The mixture has a minimum sintering temperature in the range of 850.degree.-1000.degree. C., and can be formed by conventional manufacturing techniques. It is particularly useful for the fabrication of single or multilayer electronic circuit substrates.
Abstract: A twisted nematic liquid crystal material used in a dual-frequency addressable liquid crystal cell is disclosed. Specific materials include an eutectic mixture of 2-5 monoester compounds having the formula R--X--Y--CO.sub.2 --Z--R', wherein R and R' is a straight alkyl having 2-7 carbon atoms and where each of X, Y and Z is a phenyl or trans-cyclohexyl and at least one of X, Y and Z is a trans-cyclohexyl. Also included are up to 25 weight percent of dopants to reduce viscosity and up to 10 weight percent of additives to lower the cross-over frequency, the additives being of the formula: ##STR1## wherein X is selected from the group consisting of: ##STR2## wherein R is a straight alkyl having 2-7 carbon atoms.
