Patent number: 4787926Abstract: A digitally controlled apparatus for varying the temperature of a glass fiber forming bushing over a period of time is disclosed. A clock generates timing pulses at a predetermined frequency to a BCD counter. The output signals from the BCD counter are fed to a comparator means. BCD output signals generated by a plurality of manually operable switch assemblies are also fed to the comparator means. The switch assemblies are set by an operator to generate a predetermined number related to the amount of time required to wind a strand of glass fibers upon a tube. The comparator means generates an output pulse when the count of the BCD counter equals the number set by the switch assemblies, then resets the BCD counter to zero. The output pulses from the comparator means are fed to a binary counter. The output lines from the binary counter are connected to a digital to analog converter. The converter generates an analog output signal which is proportional to the magnitude of the number from the binary counter.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 1987Date of Patent: November 29, 1988Assignee: Owens-Corning Fiberglas CorporationInventor: Eugene C. Patent number: 4592121Abstract: An integral tire and rim assembly includes a flanged annulus having an uninterrupted, substantially constant diameter outer surface, a centrally disposed spider and a tire having inextensible beads of a diameter smaller than the diameter of the rim flanges. A method for fabricating the integral tire and rim comprises the steps of forming an annulus having a substantially uniform diameter and a first generally radially extending flange, forming a spider, securing the spider within the flange, mounting a tire on the rim and forming a second generally radially extending flange in the annulus, thereby securing the tire on the rim between the two flanges.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1983Date of Patent: June 3, 1986Assignee: Kelsey-Hayes CompanyInventors: Gary L. Patent number: 4527826Abstract: A trailer apparatus includes movable and demountable structures which adapt the trailer for use with large planar sheets of material as well as more conventional loads such as cartons, drums and palletized articles. The trailer includes a plurality of parallel A-frame supports spaced longitudinally along the central portion of the trailer for receiving the planar material. Transversely oriented bars longitudinally restrain the material and straps extending downwardly from the top of the support laterally restrain it. The upper portion of the A-frame supports, as well as the bars and straps are removable. A pair of hinged panels selectively form a trailer floor in the central portion thereof. The sidewalls of the trailer are fixed. The roof is movable to permit loading and unloading of the planar material from above and conventional rear trailer doors provide access therethrough for loading and unloading conventional cargo such as palletized material, cartons, and drums.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1983Date of Patent: July 9, 1985Inventor: John L. Patent number: 4513632Abstract: An improved mounting bracket for a steering column mounted control stalk is disclosed. The bracket includes a generally flat base portion having an aperture formed therein for receiving a boss formed on the steering column. A hollow intermediate portion extends from the base portion and has an internal diameter at least equal to the internal diameter of the base portion aperture. A slot is formed in the base and intermediate portions for receiving a key formed on the steering column boss. A hollow end portion extends from an end of the intermediate portion opposite the base portion and has an internal diameter smaller than the internal diameter of the intermediate portion. The end portion further includes means for releasably engaging the steering column mounted control stalk. Means are provided for securing the base portion to the steering column.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 1984Date of Patent: April 30, 1985Assignee: Dana CorporationInventor: Jack E. Swoveland

Patent number: 4512210Abstract: The present invention relates to a lever assembly which is coupled by a cable to operate a remote mechanism, such as a vehicle parking brake. The lever assembly comprises a lever pivotally mounted to a support member. A locking pawl pivotally mounted to the lever is adapted to engage one of a plurality of ratchet teeth on the support member for maintaining the lever in a selected pivoted position relative to the support member. The one end of the cable is coupled to the handle such that pivoting of the lever results in movement of the cable and operation of the remote mechanism. In accordance with the present invention, an adjusting device is provided for maintaining the cable within a predetermined tension range when the lever is in the non-operating position.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1982Date of Patent: April 23, 1985Assignee: Donovan Wire & IronInventor: Anthony R. Patent number: 4492146Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for shutting off a supply of pressurized motive fluid to an associated fluid driven motor in response to a predetermined motor back pressure indicating a predetermined load on the motor. The device comprises a housing having a fluid inlet connected to a supply of motive fluid and a fluid outlet connected to supply pressurized fluid to the associated fluid driven motor. A passageway extends through the housing between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet. A shut-off piston is slidably mounted with the housing and is shiftable to close the housing passageway and shut off the supply of pressurized fluid to the motor in response to a predetermined motor back pressure. An orifice of variable size is provided in the housing passageway and is utilized to reduce the pressure of the fluid supplied to the motor.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 1982Date of Patent: January 8, 1985Assignee: Cooper Industries, Inc.Inventor: William Workman, Jr.
