Abstract: A shaving system including a handle and a blade assembly, the handle having first and second connecting portions extending from an end thereof, the blade assembly comprising a body portion having blade means permanently fixed therein, a first blade assembly connecting portion pivotally engaged with the first handle connecting portion, and a second blade assembly connecting portion fixedly connected to the second handle connecting portion to facilitate dynamic change of shaving geometry during a shaving operation.
Abstract: An electronic control system is arranged to supply appropriate electrical signals for controlling the rate of advancement of a cutting tool into a surface of a rotating billet for peeling and pulling a strip therefrom with a regulated thickness and tension.
Abstract: A razor blade assembly including a body member, a guard member mounted on the body member for movement thereon, a blade member mounted on the body member for movement thereon, the guard member and the blade member being independently moveable in response to forces encountered during a shaving operation, spring finger biasing members integral with the body member and exercising a bias against the guard member and the blade member, a cap portion fixed to the body member, and connector structure integral with the body member for connection of the blade assembly to a razor handle.
Abstract: A hair curling device including a heatable rod having a plurality of longitudinal channels. A non-conductive roller having a cage-like body is provided with a plurality of mating strips or bars. When the roller is slidably mounted on the rod, a sufficient heated surface area of the rod remains exposed for applying heat directly to a wound tress. The rod may be removed from the formed curl leaving the roller to support the hair while it cools to operate as a hair setter. If the rod remains mated to the roller and left in the hair while the hair cools, the device operates as a curling iron or styling wand.
Abstract: A package for a number of safety razors each having an elongate handle and a transversely extending shaving head at the upper end thereof is described. The package is formed from card which is cut, shaped and secured to form an envelope enclosing at least the major portion of the lengths of the razor handles; the opposite sides of the envelope each include an elongate slot, the two slots being in registry with each other to permit the shaving heads of the razors to project from each side of the envelope. A pair of flaps integral with the remainder of the package overlies the projecting heads to each side of the envelope.
Abstract: This invention deals with novel hair shampoo compositions containing sulfated alkoxylated polyglycerol surfactants in combination with alkyl amine oxide foam promoters. The shampoo compositions have unusually low levels of skin and eye irritation.
Abstract: A razor handle for a razor blade assembly adapted to be movably mounted on the handle, the razor handle having opposed and aligned journal means disposed on arm portions, the arm portions being movable toward and away from each other reciprocally and axially of the journal means to permit the journal means to engage and disengage the razor blade assembly.
Abstract: A shaving system including a razor handle and a replaceable blade assembly, the handle having first and second arms with first and second journals thereon, the arms being movable away from each other in such manner as to cause the journals to move away from each other along a common axis, a spring for biasing the arms toward each other, and a cam disposed on each of the arms, and a blade assembly including a housing having first and second journal bearings for receiving the first and second journals for pivotal mounting of the blade assembly on the handle, and cam surfaces for complemental engagement with the handle cams, the cam surfaces and handle cams cooperating to urge the blade assembly to a neutral position.
Abstract: A razor blade assembly is provided with blade means mounted in a housing adapted to be connected to arms of a razor handle. The housing is provided with journal bearings for receiving journals on the arms of the razor handle. The housing is further provided with cam means at either end thereof. The journal bearing means form a pivot axis for pivotal movement of the razor blade assembly thereabout and the housing cam means is in engagement with biasing means on each arm of the handle when the blade assembly is mounted on the razor handle.
Abstract: A razor handle for a razor blade assembly adapted to be pivotally mounted on the handle, the razor handle having first and second arm portions with journal means disposed thereon for pivotal connection to journal bearing means on the blade assembly, each arm portion having cam means thereon engageable with complementary cam means on the blade assembly, the cam means cooperating to urge the pivotally mounted blade assembly toward a neutral position.
Abstract: An aqueous soap-based deodorant stick consisting essentially of a mixture of sodium stearate and sodium palmitate, a soap-compatible germicide, polyethylene imine or ethoxylated polyethylene imine, and water. A soap-compatible perfume, talc, propylene glycol, glycerin, and wool wax alcohols are optional ingredients.
Abstract: A catalytic heating means is disposed in a heating chamber of a tubular body member defining a hair winding portion. The curling device includes a supply of a liquid fuel and aspirating means for vaporizing the fuel and mixing the vaporized fuel with air to supply a vaporized fuel/air mixture to the catalytic heating means. A temperature control means automatically regulates the flow of vaporized fuel in response to the temperature of the heating chamber.
Abstract: A portable electric curling iron has a hollow handle having an open end. An electrically heated hair curling member is arranged for telescopic movement between a retracted storage position within the handle and an extended use position wherein the member projects from the handle through the open end thereof. Movable electrical connector plug means are provided on the iron for connecting the electric heating means associated with the hair curling member to a power source. Means are provided for automatically moving the connector plug means between a retracted plug position wherein the plug means is substantially entirely within the handle and an extended plug position wherein the plug projects from the handle in response to the telescopic movement of the hair curling member into and out of the handle.
