Abstract: A tire monitoring system providing tire status and notifying or warning the vehicle operator of early detection of imminent tire failure and performance degradation; thus improving safety by preventing blowouts from occurring, lengthening tire life by encouraging preventive maintenance, and improving fuel mileage by encouraging the operator to fill the tire to its proper pressure or repair it. The system monitors temperature of the rim of the wheel to which the tire is attached, such temperature being transmitted to the vehicle operator or other interested parties via means such as radio frequency.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a chain where, upon the stressing of the chain, the links automatically arrange themselves with respect to one another in terms of their position in the chain, preventing any undesired link. A link can be developed in the form, in top view, of a drop or in the form of a keyhole. The described chain is not only suitable for application in lashing loads, but also for use with the manipulation of all accessory chain parts, in which the placement of a link is required, for example shortening hooks, shortening straps or the like.
Abstract: The present invention discloses an automated rock saw having a saw motor load sensor to control the speed of the conveyors bringing the rock to the saw blade. As the saw motor works harder to cut a given rock, the controller automatically slows the conveyor belts, reducing the load on the saw blade. If the saw blade is easily cutting a given rock and not working at optimum speed, the conveyors will be sped up, increasing production. Also provided in an alternate embodiment is a horizontal blade that can be moved into place to cut the “bottom” of a corner piece, then the standard, vertical blade cuts the other side of the corner.

Abstract: A portable electrically powered clamp application tool has a bench mounting kit with a foot pedal control for bench work. The tool has two grippers which enable a powered clamp cutting operation, wherein the only manual step is bending the tightened clamp prior to triggering the cutter arm. A gripper element is non-rotational and has teeth. It locates the material being gripped in a repeatable manner in spite of oil or other lubricants on the clamp. After the cutting operation an automatic release assembly releases the clamp. A manual lever(s) can also release a tail of a clamp.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for determining the concentration of nitric oxide (NO) in a gas mixture such as air. The gas sample containing NO is mixed with a gas containing ozone (O3), and the change in the ozone concentration is measured after a sufficient time is allowed for the reaction between NO and O3 to take place and destroy a measurable quantity of O3. In the disclosed embodiment, the concentration of ozone is measured using the technique of UV absorption. In this case, the invention has the advantage over other instruments for measuring NO of having absolute calibration based on the known extinction coefficient for ozone at ultraviolet wavelengths. The invention discloses both static and dynamic flow systems, and the NO concentration measurements may be made over a wide pressure range.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a folding door brace to prevent unwanted entry of an intruder. The present invention is a folding, portable door brace that may be easily installed and removed on a wide variety of door types. The door brace also has a motion sensor and an alarm to alert any occupants of the room to any attempts to open the door. A number of interchangeable foot pads are provided to allow the door brace to be used with a variety of different floor surfaces.
Abstract: A reduced drag cable for use in vertical wind tunnels and other applications with a change in the spacing and/or size of the strands of a standard twisted wire cable is disclosed. The perimeter strands of one embodiment all have a standard diameter, with the exception of one or more wires with different diameter from the other perimeter strands. The different sized strand forms a helical feature around the cable, creating a non-circular profile to reduce drag in air.
Abstract: A recliner is suited for airplane mechanics and the like who need seating and backrest support at various heights. A rectangular base has removable caster-type wheels. A rectangular table frame is supported above the base by a pair of scissor-type leg assemblies with adjustable height bracket, slot and pin subassemblies and/or lift assist assemblies. The table frame has a fixed seat cushion. A tiltable backrest can be supported by a slotted cam assembly or other mechanical and/or hydraulic assemblies.
Abstract: A coring tool is designed to first pierce the skin of a fruit and/or vegetable such as a pepper. A second phase blade of the coring tool preferably has a pair of oval blades, each with a sharpened leading edge to core the inside of the pepper. Thus, the two phase tool allows the user to easily cut through the skin of the pepper making a small. Neat hole, and then push the tool further into the center of the pepper, thereby coring the center. A hand held stirrer is shown powering the coring tool.
Abstract: Plastering/cement trowels have sharp edges which can cut a worker when he places the trowel down in a resting position. The present invention provides a plastic sheath to insert the trowel into during the resting mode of use. This sheath also prevents nicks and dents to the trowel while it is transported. An optional sharpening file is attached to the top of the sheath. Various sheath embodiments include a narrowed rear section of a longitudinal slot on the upper member which functions to hold the spine of the trowel in the slot, a rubber membrane stretchable over the blade, a pair of pincer members on the top of the sheath to lock the shank of the trowel into the sheath, a tether on top of the sheath to lock the shank of the trowel into the sheath, and a rear door for the blade slot.
