Abstract: An apparatus for placement on the ground includes a pouch with a removable pillow that is preferably made of a memory foam type of material. A top sheet is formed of a desired flexible fabric material for comfort. The top sheet is extended to form the pouch. A preferred material for the top sheet includes a cotton cloth or cotton blend of fabric. A water resistant bottom sheet is optionally disposed or laminated under the top sheet and is used to keep the top sheet dry when the apparatus is placed on a damp surface. A plastic film or any flexible material resistant to the passage of moisture can be used as the bottom sheet.

Abstract: An apparatus for permitting venting through eaves and foundation walls at low temperature and which closes at high temperature includes a shape-memory alloy spring that has a first expanded state at the low temperature and a second contracted state at the high temperature. At high temperature the shape-memory alloy spring contract which, in turn, closes a pivoting louver thereby obstructing the passage of air. At low temperature, after overcoming hysteresis, the shape-memory alloy spring expands and a counterforce type of spring is then able to urge the louver back into the open position. This process can be repeated, if necessary, thereby eliminating the need for replacement of the apparatus after experience of the high temperature event has occurred.

Abstract: An apparatus for training children to learn to balance and ride a bicycle is provided. A wooden bicycle includes a two-piece frame secured at one end, thereof. The frame may be painted with a special type of paint or it may include a natural wood finish. The paint allows for a customization of the frame with chalk. The frame includes a downward curvature that allows a smaller and/or younger child to use the bicycle. An adjustable seat is provided with a removable seat cushion. A pair of foot pegs are included on the frame which helps the child to improve their balance. A wooden handlebar with a pair of foam grips bar is used to steer and maneuver the bicycle. A pair of wooden wheels are provided that each include a pneumatic air or solid tire. An instruction manual for assembly and required tools and parts are also included.

Abstract: An apparatus for the cutting of tree limbs includes an extensible drive shaft that is detachably-attachable at one end to a portable electric drill and is secured to a housing at an opposite end thereof. The housing converts the rotary motion that is supplied by the drill into reciprocating motion of a saw blade and it disposes the saw blade at an angle with respect to the drive shaft that is slightly less than 90 degrees. An extensible two-part cylindrical outer sleeve covers the drive shaft and is detachably-attached at one end thereof to the drill and at an opposite end to the housing. A hook is provided in the housing and is used to grab and urge severed limbs where desired. An optional clamping mechanism is attached to the housing and is used initially to urge the blade and the limb toward each other during cutting and then to retain the limb proximate the housing after it has been cut for controlled placement and safe release of the limb.

Abstract: A novelty shirt with a chest section and long sleeves. The long sleeves in a first position extend downwardly adjacent the sides of the shirt and have shoulder and cuff portions spaced from each other along the vertical axes with elbow portions therebetween. Upper and lower, complementary mouth patterns are then provided on the outsides of the sleeves. The patterns on the downwardly extending sleeves face outwardly and it is not readily apparent that they are part of any overall design. However, when the sleeves are crossed laterally in front of the chest section of the shirt with the elbow portions adjacent one another, the complementary upper and lower mouth patterns on the sleeves then reveal the overall mouth design formed by them. Thereafter, the sleeves can be manipulated to separate the elbow portions to simulate the opening of the mouth.

Abstract: An apparatus for converting a shoe into a high heeled type of shoe or a medium high heeled type of shoe or a low heeled type of shoe or a type of shoe that does not include an additional heel to extend the thickness of the sole includes a heel that is detachably-attachable with respect to the pair of shoes. A bayonet mount is used to secure a detachable heel to each of the pair of shoes. A mechanical latch that includes a release member prevents accidental release and loosening of the heel. Additional pair of heels that include the bayonet mount are used when a different height, color, or appearance is desired. If desired, the shoes can be used without heels.

Abstract: An apparatus for improving the speed, accuracy, and economy in obtaining linear measurements during construction includes a body that includes a pair of straddle members that span across a thickness dimension of any preferred type of dimension lumber, including wood and synthetic building materials. If desired, the apparatus is designed to straddle a width, rather than a thickness, dimension. A number of receiving locations, such as edges, slots, or recesses, are provided on the apparatus that each correspond with a particular relative position, edge, mark, end, or surface of the dimension lumber. Each receiving location is able to receive and retain an end of a tape measure. An adjustable thumb member is provided that pivots around a center shaft and is adjustable longitudinally to better secure the end of the tape measure. The retaining force provided by the thumb member is adjustable.

Abstract: An apparatus for detachably-attaching a first half of an electrical connector to a second half includes an exterior first half housing as part of the first half that rotates about a split ring with respect to a remaining interior portion of the first half. The interior portion does not rotate. The first half housing rotates during connection as the interior portion is urged longitudinally. Electrical sockets and electrical contact pins are provided in the first half and the second half. The first half housing includes inward-protruding pins that engage with outward facing slots of the second half and follow the contour of the slots as the first half housing is rotated causing a longitudinal displacement of the first half with respect to the second half. The slots and housing structure prevent flame propagation by providing complete electrical disconnection before a final mechanical release of the bayonet connection occurs.

Abstract: An apparatus for replicating an engine and/or exhaust sound of a predetermined vehicle includes files stored in computer-readable form in a memory library of the engine and/or exhaust sound of the predetermined vehicle. A microcomputer operated controller receives engine data such as the RPM of the engine of the personal vehicle and continually selects which files to obtain and use. The controller adjusts the sound pattern to optimally correspond in a preferred way with the RPM of the engine of the personal vehicle and the controller provides an output signal that is amplified and fed to a speaker for audio playback of a replicated sound of the engine and/or exhaust sound of the predetermined vehicle in the personal vehicle. A speaker disposed outside the vehicle includes a conical or cylindrical shape. A diagnostic capability is also disclosed. Connection to an OBD II connector provides the desired engine data.

Abstract: An apparatus for drawing blood from a finger includes a flexible band, at least a portion of which is adapted to surround a portion of a finger. A remaining portion of the apparatus is disposed under at least one joint of the finger. The apparatus provides sufficient strength along its longitudinal length to restrict a child or other person from excessively bending the joint when the finger restraint is in position. After a puncture is provided near the tip of the finger, the apparatus is then squeezed to help force an additional quantity of blood to flow out through the puncture. After the blood sample is taken, the apparatus continues to “restrain” the finger until a required bandage is applied. A few of the many possible modifications are also shown.

Abstract: An apparatus for use with a cap includes a rigid liner that is secured to an interior or exterior of the cap to provide impact protection over a portion of the forehead region, crown and temple area. An absorbent liner is preferably included if the cap does not include an interior liner. The absorbent liner absorbs perspiration from the brow of the wearer. An optional energy attenuating liner can also be included as an inner layer that is disposed adjacent to the rigid liner and intermediate the head of the wearer to more safely distribute kinetic energy. The energy attenuating liner can include a material that provides single-use only or multiple-use capability. The rigid liner and other components are either permanently attached to the cap or they may be detachably-attachable with respect to the cap or with respect to a remainder of the apparatus and replaced, as desired. Any preferred material may be used for any component part of the protective shield for a cap.

Abstract: An apparatus for the focusing of incident light includes a base assembly that is adapted to support a primary mirror. The primary mirror includes an outside circumference and an inside aperture. An upright member is attached to the base assembly at a first end thereof at a first location that is disposed inside the aperture and at a second location that is disposed outside the primary mirror. The upright member includes a second end that is distally disposed with respect to the first end. The second end is adapted to receive a turret that includes a secondary mirror and is adapted to pivot between two positions. An IMU is attached to the base assembly proximate the primary mirror.

Abstract: An apparatus for providing a floating type of a boat dock or platform includes a plurality of synthetic material decking members that are disposed along the sides and top of the dock. Urethane foam is applied to an interior of the apparatus and it expands to fill the interior voids while simultaneously securing the decking members proximate one-another by securing them to the urethane foam. Accordingly, a monolithic structure is provided without the use of fasteners. Corner members are used that extend around an upper perimeter of the dock. Side members are used to form the sides, ends, and the decking material that forms an upper surface. An optional rounded member is preferably used at the bottom along a perimeter of the apparatus. Optional features, including elastomeric coating, filler blocks, utility conduits, sunken vaults, cleats, upper decking surface and waterline heating are also described.

Abstract: An apparatus for cutting dado cuts in a board includes a first base member that includes an adjustment for surrounding a fence. A pair of rods extend away from the first base member and are attached to a first rail. A second base member includes a pair of spaced apart holes through which each of the pair of rods passes. A locking lever is used to secure the second base member in position relative to the pair of rods. The second base member is mounted over the rods in either of two ways. Each side of the second base member provides an indication as to where and edge of the dado cut will occur in a board. The width of the dado cut is readily adjustable by urging the second member into the desired position and by actuating the locking lever.

Abstract: A method and product for removing nitrogen compound molecules from gasoline or diesel fuel includes exposing the gasoline or diesel fuel to a plurality of molecularly imprinted polymer beads (MIPS) that have receptor sites on the surfaces thereof that include imprints that match the physical shape of at least a portion of a nitrogen compound molecule. A quantity of the nitrogen molecules align with and adhere to some of the receptor sites and, accordingly, they are removed from the gasoline or diesel fuel producing a remediated or sweetened gasoline or diesel fuel. According to one embodiment, the MIPS are contained in an enclosure having a plurality of openings large enough to permit the solution to pass through and small enough so as to prevent the MIPS from passing through. According to another embodiment the MIPS are applied (i.e.

Abstract: A method and product for removing sulfur compound molecules from gasoline or diesel fuel includes exposing the gasoline or diesel fuel to a plurality of molecularly imprinted polymer beads (MIPS) that have receptor sites on the surfaces thereof that include imprints that match the physical shape of at least a portion of a sulfur compound molecule. A quantity of the sulfur molecules align with and adhere to some of the receptor sites and, accordingly, they are removed from the gasoline or diesel fuel producing a remediated or sweetened gasoline or diesel fuel. According to one embodiment, the MIPS are contained in an enclosure having a plurality of openings large enough to permit the solution to pass through and small enough so as to prevent the MIPS from passing through. According to another embodiment the MIPS are applied (i.e., coated) to the inside surface of a conduit and the gasoline or diesel fuel is forced or allowed to flow through the conduit thereby removing some of the sulfur molecules therefrom.

Abstract: An apparatus for securing a pair of trousers about a torso includes a face plate and a flexible member that is attached along three perimeter sides of the flexible member to a rear surface of the face plate. A conventional type of a fastener assembly for a belt is attached to the flexible member. A first end of the belt is attached to a rear of the fastener assembly and a second end of the belt engages with a hook, the hook being attached to an opposite end of the fastener assembly. An opening between the face plate and the flexible member along a side of the flexible member that is not attached to the face plate is provided on the remaining side of the flexible member into which a credit card and a picture-identification card, such as a driver's license can be inserted or removed.
