Abstract: A wall mounted swing arm lamp with an integral display unit removably affixed to a base. Reinforcement is provided to the base to support the weight of the swing arm and the lamp when fully extended. The base and the display unit carry complementary attachment fittings for removably securing the display unit to the base.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for continuously and accurately blending a plurality of diverse, normally gaseous or volatile liquid components, preferably two or three, at low pressures. In a preferred embodiment, and apparatus blends a first stream of volatile liquid component, preferably carbon dioxide with a liquid stream of any suitable hydrocarbon (including halogenated hydrocarbons) blowing agent in accordance with any predetermined ratio desired by those skilled in the art before introducing the blend into a suitable extrusion process for preparation of polymeric foams and the like. The apparatus combines the liquid components at a pressure substantially higher than the elevated pressure required during the extrusion process.
Abstract: A rectangular hand-mounted connector with d-shaped geometrical bay areas for providing easy mounting or dismounting compatibility in a commercial application without the use of any special tool is disclosed. The connector system uses a plurality of hooks located at the top and bottom of the receptacle shell to mate with a plurality of draw latches or bail latches at the top and bottom of the plug shell. In an alternative embodiment, a vertical clamping latch system is used to engage the receptacle and plug assembly. A polarization key in the receptacle shell provides latch tension when it is mated with its mating part from the plug shell. Strain reliefs may be connected to the receptacle or plug shell and may further having a plurality of ground studs for grounding the electrical contacts.
Abstract: Oxidizing compositions particularly for use in automated oligonucleotide synthesis containing a mixture of KI and I.sub.2 in solution, in equilibrium with KI.sub.3. One preferred composition contains 1.75% KI.sub.3 (providing 0.69% KI and 1.06% I.sub.2) in tetrahydrofuran/pyridine/water (93/5/2, v/v). These formulations enable synthesis of oligonucleotides of significantly higher quality than the currently employed formulation comprising 3% I.sub.2 in tetrahydrofuran/pyridine/water (74/21/2, v/v).

Abstract: The present invention provides a method of forming a pre-wrapped gift package which appears to have been hand wrapped. The method includes forming a sheet of box construction material with decorative paper affixed thereto into a box tube by joining ends thereof. The box construction material is properly creased and provided with flaps so that a consumer may fold the flattened box tube into a box so that the end flaps form ends of the box and the decorative paper forms a pair of paper flaps which may be overlapped and taped. A flattened pull bow is provided to form a gift wrapping kit with the flattened box tube which may be distributed and displayed in a flat package. A flattened, collapsed open box with the same volume as the pre-wrapped gift package is attached to the outside of the assembly in such a manner that a prospective purchaser may erect the open box and use it to determine whether or not the pre-wrapped gift package is the proper size for the gift the purchaser desires to be packaged.
Abstract: Contortrostatin is employed as active agent for treatment of thrombotic disease. Preferably, contortrostatin is employed in conjunction with at least one thrombolytic agent. In addition, contortrostatin is useful in compositions and methods for preventing metastases in carcinoma and melanoma patients, treating or preventing osteoporosis and promoting wound healing.

Abstract: An array antenna in particular for space applications comprises radiating elements having a stratified type of structure. These elements are fixed on a support structure having openings beneath the radiating elements.
Abstract: To allow a displacement sensor to operate independently of changes in the excitation signal to the transducer, a demodulating circuit utilizing a single integrator is provided wherein comparison is made between the excitation signal and a reference signal, the comparison is used to adjust an output generating circuit which generates the output from the transducer. Advantageously, the output generating circuit can provide movement information from output of the transducer which include position, velocity and acceleration.
Abstract: A reusable oil filter assembly adapted for use in filtering the lubricating oil of an engine configured to receive an oil filter, including a filter housing having an open end and a closed end, a filter mount disposed between the filter housing and the engine for receiving the unfiltered oil from the engine and returning filtered oil to the engine. The filter mount includes a first plate, a second plate, and an anti-drain back seal disposed between the first plate and the second plate. The anti-drain back seal prevents both the oil disposed in the engine from flowing out into the filter assembly and the oil disposed in the filter assembly from flowing into the engine when the engine is turned off. The first plate, the second plate and the anti-drain back seal arefittingly, rather than integrally, mated together, thus facilitating service, repair and replacement of the assembly.
Abstract: Therapeutic strategies for the treatment of immunoinfective cluster virus infections in humans involving the use of antibodies or fragments thereof which are characteristic of autoantibodies produced by patients affected with systemic rheumatic disorders and cross-react with epitopes on an immunoinfective cluster virus. Additional therapeutic strategies include the use U1 RNA or fragments thereof to treat said viral infections.

Abstract: A device and method for both liberating rubber from other parts of a tire, and cutting the rubber and other parts to an appropriate size for recycling.
Abstract: A disposable beverage container including a heat exchange unit which, when activated, releases a refrigerant and cools the beverage. The heat exchange unit contains the refrigerant and includes a valve for controllably releasing the same. The refrigerant is a mixture of at least one liquified petroleum gas having a pressure profile of 70 psi at 70.degree. F. and a halogen gas.
Abstract: A shoe wiping mat with color pattern for rent, having a novel taffeted texture and vivid color pattern, excellent softness, dust-adsorbing property and dust-holding property, preventing undulation phenomenon on the mat surface even after repetitive use, and having excellent fitness to floor surfaces, resulting from the tilt of the stitches, zig-zag shape stitches and boundary lines, pitch of the stitches and position thereof.
Abstract: A system is disclosed for testing a plurality of items of test data, the system comprising memory means for storing a plurality of items of stored data and, in response to an input signal identifying one of the items of stored data, producing an output signal dependent on that item of stored data. The input signal is dependent on one of the items of test data and on a feedback signal comprising at least part of the output signal produced on testing a previous item of test data, at least part of the output signal providing an indication of the result of the testing.
