  • Patent number: 5660207
Abstract: A mass fluid flow controller has a valve which is controlled by a controller rod which is substantially pivotally mounted on a metallic diaphragm which stretches and unstretches with the movement of the rod. The actuation of the rod movement is by the expansion and contraction of an actuator wire which is heated for the expansion and allowed to cool for the contraction. The primary fluid flow path through the controller is straight. A sensor conduit, providing a parallel sensor fluid flow path, is connected in position using metallic sealer members which extend into openings to the primary fluid flow path and which are rounded along the direction through such openings. The pressure drop, along the primary fluid flow path, to create flow through the sensor conduit, is provided by a fluid flow restrictor having a core and having lengths of wire along the core which are squeezed between the core and a tapered fluid flow path wall in the vicinity of the sensor conduit input and output connections.

  • Patent number: 5655384
Abstract: A self-cooling container incorporating a heat exchange unit including a chamber for containing a quantity of a gas, the chamber including an external wall in contact with the beverage to be cooled, actuator means for actuating the heat exchange unit, a liner member disposed concentric and inside the wall of the chamber for facilitating flow of the gas throughout the heat exchange unit, and a means for exhausting the gas from the chamber. The actuator means includes a valve for controlling the release of the gas from the chamber having a valve stem which when reciprocated axially will open and close the valve to allow gas to discharge through the stem. The actuator means also includes a sealer having a plurality of tabs spaced around its outer periphery for preventing the heat exchange unit from coming out of the container. A support member is affixed to the base of the chamber for locking the heat exchange unit in position after it is inserted in the container.

  • Patent number: 5653480
Abstract: A pipe coupling is constructed such that: a pressing member is supported by an inner collar and presses an inserted pipe body in a state in which the pressing member contacts an inclined surface of an outer collar; the inclined surface of the outer collar causes the pressing member to be moved in a radial direction thereof when the pressing member moves toward a deep portion within the pipe coupling, and restricts the movement of the pressing member in the radial direction when the pressing member moves in a direction of an exit; the inner collar is urged toward the exit by an elastic member; and the outer collar is relatively movably coupled to a housing of the pipe coupling. In the case of any type of rigid pipe body, the pipe coupling can be freely and easily connected to and removed from the same.
