  • Patent number: 5319699
Abstract: In a method of routing a call to a wireless telephone service subscriber entitled to the call routing service, the subscriber is assigned a numbering plan number. The number of the nearest fixed station is determined. The number of the nearest fixed station is written into the database of a service control point serving the subscriber. For each call to be routed, the nearest fixed station number is read from the database of the service control point. A word identifying the telephone is then sent to the fixed station designated by the nearest fixed station number. This fixed station then sends at least one call message containing the word identifying the telephone of the subscriber and the number of the fixed station. The call message is received by the telephone of the subscriber, the word identifying that telephone is recognized and the subscriber is alerted.

  • Patent number: 5319283
Abstract: A time-delayed, variable light intensity control is configured to operate in a conventional mode in which the illumination level of incandescent lights is adjusted in accordance with rotation of the dimmer knob and in automatic dimming modes in which the illumination level is further dimmed over a predetermined period of time, to either a low level of illumination suitable for use as a night light, or until extinguished. The light intensity control controls the illumination levels as well as the time delay during automatic dimming by varying the phase angle at which a power triac is triggered. The phase angle is controlled by the timing of the generation of a first pulse in accordance with the rotation of the dimmer knob and the generation of a fixed period pulse which occurs one half cycle later. The control system is useful for other AC control systems.

  • Patent number: 5319360
Abstract: Prior Art/Technical Problem: During the establishment of a call through a switching network 20, the path is selected on the basis of the instantaneous loading of the switching network and maintained during the call. The problem of eliminating local blocking by rearranging existing connections has not been satisfactorily solved because of errors occurring during the rearranging process.Basic Idea: Provide in an ATM exchange operating with virtual connections the same devices which assure the correct order of the cells in the "connectionless" mode.Solution: Each output of the switching network is followed by an output unit 30 which ensures that the cells are output in the correct order.Advantage(s): Virtual connections can be adapted to the instantaneous loading of the switching network error-free at any time. The assurance of the correct order can be implemented so as to largely compensate for delay jitter.

  • Patent number: 5317634
Abstract: A telephone circuit subset arrangement in which the base/emitter junction of a switching transistor (TR1) coupling an internal battery (B1) to the dialler chip's power terminals (VDD, VSS) is shunted by hook-switch signal contacts (HS) when the subset is brought into the off-hook mode, thereby turning the switching transistor off and disconnecting the battery. The circuit is so arranged that upon the switching transistor turning off, three auxiliary switching transistors (TR3, TR4 and TR5) turn on and operate the subset's line switch to connect line current to the dialler chip's power terminals. A network of resistors (R1, R2 and R3) associated with the switching transistor (TR1) ensure that on the one hand sufficient current is available to turn on the auxiliary switching transistors, and on the other hand limit the current to a magnitude which dose not cause excessive battery discharge while the subset is off-hook.

  • Patent number: 5314656
Abstract: Transition metal carbonitrides (in particular, titanium carbonitride, TiC.sub.0.5 N.sub.0.5) are synthesized by a self-propagating reaction between the metal (e.g., titanium) and carbon in a nitrogen atmosphere. Complete conversion to the carbonitride phase is achieved with the addition of TiN as diluent and with a nitrogen pressure .gtoreq.0.6 MPa. Thermodynamic phase-stability calculations and experimental characterizations of quenched samples provided revealed that the mechanism of formation of the carbonitride is a two-step process. The first step involves the formation of the nonstoichiometric carbide, TiC.sub.0.5, and is followed by the formation of the product by the incorporation of nitrogen in the defect-structure carbide.
