Patent number: 5320022Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for reducing the recoil and muzzle climb from the discharge of a firearm. A hollow cylinder member having a front end with a restricted opening forming a gas chamber is attached to the muzzle end of a firearm and serves to rearwardly divert the highly pressurized gas produced from the combustion of gunpowder. The cylinder member is provided with rearwardly angled holes along both its top and bottom surface which act as jets to create a forward propulsive force from the expelled gas. This forward force counteracts and reduces the backward force of the firearm's recoil. By providing a greater ratio of top holes to bottom holes, thereby effecting a downward force greater than the upward force, muzzle climb can also be effectively reduced. The apparatus can be constructed for quick attachment to the muzzle of the firearm.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 1993Date of Patent: June 14, 1994Assignee: Gunstar, Inc.Inventors: Jerold R. Patent number: 5234325Abstract: Apparatus for windshield glass repair is provided. A cylinder having internal chambers is equipped with a piston head plunger at a top end and has a mounting device at a bottom end for securing a tight seal over a crack in a windshield. The withdrawal of the plunger creates a vacuum and allows for air to be pulled out of the crack, while a side stem in communication with the cylinder allows resin filler material to be introduced and forced into the crack. Air pressure is equalized by opening the side stem, whereupon the plunger can be depressed to force the resin filler into the crack. The mounting supports allow for quick connect and disconnect of the cylinder. The side stem obviates the necessity of removing the cylinder for re-filling of resin material whereby any length crack can be repaired without breaking the tight seal on the crack.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 1992Date of Patent: August 10, 1993Inventor: Elgie Hill

Patent number: 5207805Abstract: An improved cyclone separator and method of construction are disclosed. Such cyclone separators are employed for separating particulates from hot gas entering the separator barrel through an axially disposed slot in its periphery. An improvement in efficiency and recovery of very small particulates is achieved by making the slot very narrow so that the particulates enter the barrel very near its inner surface, thus having less distance to travel under centrifugal force in order to reach said inner surface. In accomplishing this objective, however, it has been discovered that, for the particular inlet gas velocity selected, the structure under certain design conditions will act as a cavity resonator with the characteristic frequencies of the cavity matching the frequency of the incoming gas as it rotates in the barrel, thus causing the structure to function as a resonator thereby destroying the efficiency or, in extreme cases, having catastrophic results (in the mathematical sense).Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1992Date of Patent: May 4, 1993Assignee: Emtrol CorporationInventors: Bodo Kalen, Nicholas L.
