Abstract: A dendrite surface is provided on each of the electrical contacts of a substrate, such as a test board, chip carrier, or printed wiring board. The electrical contacts on the substrate are arranged in a mirror image of the input/output pads on a wirebond chip from which the wire leads have been removed from, or not initially provided on, each of the input/output pads. The wirebond chip is aligned with the substrate, and the respective contact brought into electrical communication with each other. The wirebond chip may be removed after testing or other temporary attachment purpose, or permanently encapsulated with at least a portion of the substrate in a permanent assembly. The present invention permits wirebond chips to be selectively attached temporarily or permanently, i.e., have a pluggable capability, as well as the ability to allow a full array of I/O pad design.

Abstract: A plurality of electromagnetic energy transmitters and receivers are each arranged in a respective linear array to define a single vertical plane. A portion of the transmitters are coupled together to define a field, or strike zone, within the plane. The device has a means for detecting the entrance and exit of a ball into and from the single plane and for simultaneously detecting whether the ball was within, or outside of, the strike zone. The method for measuring the velocity and zonal position of a pitched ball includes sensing the entrance and exit of a ball into and from a single spatial plane, generating a series of count signals, and measuring the number of count signals occurring during passage of the ball through the plane. Simultaneously with measuring the number of count signals, the passage of the ball either through or outside of the strike zone is sensed, and a signal indicative of the position of the ball with respect to the strike zone is displayed.
Abstract: A new golf clubhead has been developed which has a vane extending outwardly from its crown and rear surfaces and extending from the face to the sole of the clubhead. The vane tends to align the clubhead in the direction of motion as it is swung through an arc towards impact with a ball. The clubhead also has a plurality of aerodynamically contoured surfaces that reduce wind resistance to movement of the clubhead through the air.
Abstract: A door seal has a base portion comprising straight sections joined at their ends to form corner joints with another section, at least four first seal sections each of which are disposed at a respective one of the corner joints, and a plurality of second seal portions each having a length that extends between a spaced pair of the first seal sections. The first seal sections comprise a pair of spaced lip seals, whereas the second seal sections comprise a lip seal and a compression seal. The seal avoids the problem of undesirable compression seal distortion at the corners joints.
Abstract: An electrical connector having pin members that are partially encapsulated within, and sockets members that are completely encapsulated within, rigid, electrically nonconductive sheaths that are respectively integrally formed in male and female body members. The male and female body members are joined together by a resiliently compressible coupling member that has a plurality of passageways that seal around each of the sheaths. The male and female body members and the coupling member are disassemblable and individually repairable or replaceable without the use of special tools or equipment.
