Abstract: An aqueous solution blend of cationic metal salt and anionic vinyl polymer may be prepared. A composition comprising the combination of a cationic metal salt, anionic vinyl polymer, and water may be used in water clarification process.
Abstract: A device for metering the flow of water into the tank and bowl of a toilet and providing a positive shut-off of the flow. When the toilet handle is turned, a linkage rotates a cam to force the stopper from its seat thereby commencing water flow. Water flows through a flow channel and past a water wheel imparting a rotation thereto. The water wheel is gearably connected to the cam thereby rotating the cam. When the cam has rotated to position a notch over the stopper stem, the stopper is reseated by the pressure of the water and water flow ceases. The amount of water flow permitted is a function of the number of cam notches and flow nozzle size.
Abstract: A steeply inclined conveyor comprising an endless elastic conveyor belt extending around guide rollers to define a conveying portion and a returning portion, and support rollers for supporting the returning portion of the belt, is provided with longitudinally spaced stops on the belt for preventing slippage of material carried by the conveying portion, each stop being mounted on a tongue formed in the belt and having two longitudinal side edges, a trailing transverse edge with respect to the direction of travel of the belt, and a leading edge transition portion parallel to the trailing transverse edge and merging flush into the belt, the tongues having the same thickness as the belt, and the stops being disposed at the trailing edges of the tongues.
Abstract: A device for calling wild turkeys that is equally effective wet or dry, is durable, is easily carried, and is simple to use. The device comprises a plate, preferably plate glass, held cupped in one hand and a striker held in the other hand. When the end of the striker is moved across the surface of the plate a tone is produced. By adjusting the manner in which the plate is held, the tone may be changed and by moving the striker in various ways the tone takes on characteristics which replicate wild turkey calls.
Abstract: A mowing machine has a plurality of drive housings that are associated with the cutting units. Each unit has a carrying shaft that rotates a carrying unit which includes a carrying arm, cutting blades, and a covering disc. The carrying shaft is connected by gearing, located within the sealed drive housing, to the mowing machine's drive shaft. When the machine is in operation, the resulting friction within the drive housing causes the lubricants and air therein to expand. A channel is provided in the carrying shaft that opens at its lower end into the drive housing and at its upper end at the top of the carrying shaft under a conically configured cup spring, into a space which is not sealed from ambient pressures. The channel thus functions as a pressure vent to the otherwise sealed drive housing and permits the lubricants and air therein readily to expand and contract.

Abstract: A soil cultivating implement comprising a row of power-drivable, soil working members supported by a hollow frame extending substantially horizontally perpendicular to the implement's intended direct of operative travel to provide selectively upwardly or downwardly directed forces upon that row via the hollow frame. A supporting ground roller is connected behind the row, its rotary axis being contained in an imaginary vertical plane. A mobile implement provides mass to exert a downward force on the cultivating implement at a coupling point which, in turn, is translated into an upward force on the frame's forward aspect by way of arms and strong pivots, such arms being turnable about the ground roller's rotary axis. The upwardly directed force assists soil-working members automatically to elevate as needed for riding over rocks or other buried obstacles without significant damage.
Abstract: A compact electronic calculator comprising a screen, electronic circuits, a microphone, voice recognition circuits which are exchangeable depending upon the context of the verbal data to be received by the calculator and the language in which the data is provided. The calculator is thus responsive to numerals and symbols spoken in a selected language or languages and this is transformed through the circuitry of the calculator to be seen on an elongated display unit. A calculator is also responsive to action words such as "multiply", "divide", "add" and "subtract", so that the calculator carries out these functions on the displayed numerals and symbols. The calculator does not have a keyboard and is of a small size, approximately ten centimeters in length, one centimeter in width and one-half centimeter in depth. It can be incorporated in a pen form or, in a smaller version, incorporated into a wristband or the like.
Abstract: The invention relates to a machine for working grass, hay or other crops on the field, provided with two rake members which are drivable about upwardly directed axes of rotation. During operation, the distance between the rake members can be changed by controls at the seat of the tractor on which the machine is mounted to adapt the machine to various circumstances. The machine is provided with swath forming crop guide members, the relative positions of which are automatically adapted to remain about the same irrespective of the distance between the rake members.
Abstract: A mowing machine comprising at least three mower members which are arranged rotatably about substantially vertical axes on a supporting beam containing drive means. The drive means includes a rotating torsion shaft which is driven at both ends thereof and carries gears for driving the mower members.
Abstract: Apparatus and method for maintaining viscous liquid sealing substances such a grease adjacent and in contact with seals utilized in pneumatic cylinder-and-piston actuators for oil and gas well swabs, the structure including a piston member which is slideable on the piston rod and which includes an external O-ring for sealing engagement between the cylinders and the piston member and an internal O-ring which is in sealing engagement between the piston member and the piston rod. The piston member is resiliently urged by a compression spring towards the actuating piston and the viscous liquid is trapped between the actuating piston and the slideable piston member. A further like slideable piston member may also disposed on an extension of the piston rod on the opposite side of the actuating piston which is also urged towards the actuating piston. Viscous liquid is trapped between the latter slideable piston member and the actuating piston.
