  • Patent number: 4916762
Abstract: A device for metering the flow of water into the tank and bowl of a toilet and providing a positive shut-off of the flow. When the toilet handle is turned, a linkage rotates a cam to force the stopper from its seat thereby commencing water flow. Water flows through a flow channel and past a water wheel imparting a rotation thereto. The water wheel is gearably connected to the cam thereby rotating the cam. When the cam has rotated to position a notch over the stopper stem, the stopper is reseated by the pressure of the water and water flow ceases. The amount of water flow permitted is a function of the number of cam notches and flow nozzle size.

  • Patent number: 4903538
Abstract: A mowing machine has a plurality of drive housings that are associated with the cutting units. Each unit has a carrying shaft that rotates a carrying unit which includes a carrying arm, cutting blades, and a covering disc. The carrying shaft is connected by gearing, located within the sealed drive housing, to the mowing machine's drive shaft. When the machine is in operation, the resulting friction within the drive housing causes the lubricants and air therein to expand. A channel is provided in the carrying shaft that opens at its lower end into the drive housing and at its upper end at the top of the carrying shaft under a conically configured cup spring, into a space which is not sealed from ambient pressures. The channel thus functions as a pressure vent to the otherwise sealed drive housing and permits the lubricants and air therein readily to expand and contract.

  • Patent number: 4884640
Abstract: A soil cultivating implement comprising a row of power-drivable, soil working members supported by a hollow frame extending substantially horizontally perpendicular to the implement's intended direct of operative travel to provide selectively upwardly or downwardly directed forces upon that row via the hollow frame. A supporting ground roller is connected behind the row, its rotary axis being contained in an imaginary vertical plane. A mobile implement provides mass to exert a downward force on the cultivating implement at a coupling point which, in turn, is translated into an upward force on the frame's forward aspect by way of arms and strong pivots, such arms being turnable about the ground roller's rotary axis. The upwardly directed force assists soil-working members automatically to elevate as needed for riding over rocks or other buried obstacles without significant damage.

  • Patent number: 4882685
Abstract: A compact electronic calculator comprising a screen, electronic circuits, a microphone, voice recognition circuits which are exchangeable depending upon the context of the verbal data to be received by the calculator and the language in which the data is provided. The calculator is thus responsive to numerals and symbols spoken in a selected language or languages and this is transformed through the circuitry of the calculator to be seen on an elongated display unit. A calculator is also responsive to action words such as "multiply", "divide", "add" and "subtract", so that the calculator carries out these functions on the displayed numerals and symbols. The calculator does not have a keyboard and is of a small size, approximately ten centimeters in length, one centimeter in width and one-half centimeter in depth. It can be incorporated in a pen form or, in a smaller version, incorporated into a wristband or the like.
