Abstract: This invention is related to an improved adjustable support for an umbrella which consists of a fixing seat and two flexible components. Along the fixing seat there is a longitudinal opening, and semi-ball protuberances are provided around the inner surface of the fixing seat. The opening and the semi-ball protuberances are used to allow the fixing seat to be securely clamped on one side of the beach chair. At the fixing seat, it is also provided with a deep hole for the insertion of a umbrella central rod, and two flexible components are provided on each of the upper and lower parts of the umbrella central rod respectively. These two flexible components are used for angle adjustment of the umbrella in accordance with the direction of sunlight. It is, therefore, a simple structure, easy to use, and practical creation.
Abstract: A method for positioning tools comprises a first process for moving all tools into a stand-by reach and a second process for moving tools into a positioning reach, and the second process comprises steps of moving a tool onto an origin and moving the tool from the origin by a distance equal to a desired distance between the tool and a following tool. An apparatus for positioning tools is provided with a single signal generator rotated by a rotating shaft for moving shifters, by which the tools are moved in the positioning and stand-by reaches.

Abstract: A baffle support fixture for a machine for assembling automatically the tubes and baffles of a shell and tube type heat exchanger. The heat exchanger has the usual plurality of metallic tubes and perforated baffles through which the tubes pass. The baffles are non-metallic, and are composed of a soft and pliable or flexible gasket-like material. The machine is provided with a tube and baffle holding fixture mounted on a selectively movable work table. Opposing, horizontally spaced rods transmit selected quantities of tubes successively from a tube supply to the fixture and insert the tubes through the perforations in baffles supported vertically by the fixture. A pair of rigid, vertical, closely spaced plates stabilize each of the non-metallic baffles during the tube insertion cycles. Following each deposit of a selected number of tubes in the baffles supported by the fixture, the work table is adjusted prepatory to the transmission of the next selected quantity of tubes to the fixture.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for varying the flow of ink by differential adjustment at individual adjustment locations along the length of an ink metering device of a printing machine inking mechanism by a plurality of adjusting devices such as control motors, stepping mechanisms or the like, which are adjustable to differing extents by electronic control devices in accordance with variations in reference value presettings which are the same for all individually adjustable adjustment locations, using reference value-real value comparators which cause actuation of the adjusting devices, in which a reference value memory is provided for each adjusting device, and upon input of reference value variations the values of all reference value memories are multiplied by a selected predetermined reference value variation factor and the products of the multiplication are transmitted as new reference values to the reference value-real value comparator.
Abstract: The invention provides a manually held leash, lead, line or the like for large and strong animals which incorporates a shock absorbing device for diminishing the effect of the force or strain transmitted when the animal suddenly and forcibly pulls, lunges, bolts, jumps, etc. The shock absorber incorporated resilient shock absorbing elements automatically operative to oppose the force exerted by the animal and diminish its effect on the manually held leash. The device is constituted of a pneumatic cylinder the piston of which is connected to the animal and normally is retained in a retracted position by a compressive spring against which the animal pulls. In addition to the restraining force imposed by the spring, compressed air also is utilized to absorb the shock of the animal's pulling force. A command sound, such as a recorded voice, buzzer, or the like, actuated under controlled circumstances and operative to order the animal to halt or obey, may be included.
Abstract: Insulating fabric having a knitted base fabric incorporating air-entrapping cells on one or both sides. The base fabric is knit from a high bulk acrylic yarn and a combination polyester and cotton yarn, the yarns being knitted separately in selected fabric courses. The inner face of the fabric is formed of the high bulk yarn, to provide a soft, warm and comfortable interior surface when worn. The outer face of the fabric is formed of the polyester/cotton yarn, which provides a knitted framework for anchoring and stabilizing the high bulk yarn in the fabric. Following knitting, the fabric is subjected to a series of finishing operations which include scouring, padding, drying, napping and calendering. As the result of repeated washings, the insulating fabric of the invention increases in thickness to enhance its heat insulating capability and provide increased warmth.
Abstract: An improved combination lock of the push button type which consists of three improvements. Firstly, its sliding member is not in direct contact with the latch which locks the hook, so that even an adroit lock-picker finds it difficult to find the correct code. Secondly, it is provided with a device to reset all the depressed buttons. Thirdly, the characters corresponding to the combination buttons are coated with phosphorescent material so as to enable one to discriminate the characters in the dark.
Abstract: A twin bladed survival knife having a pair of knife blades and a hollow handle incorporating a plurality of separate compartments for containment of sundry survival objects. The knife has a secondary blade affixed to the handle and a hollow primary blade disposed telescopically over the secondary blade and connected releasably to the handle. A spring actuated, slidable detent disposed in the handle is operative to securely connect the primary blade to the handle and, upon being depressed, is operative to permit removal of the primary blade from the handle. The several compartments in the handle may contain a compass, a fishing reel, an electric light bulb and batteries for furnishing electric power to the bulb. A pivotal, longitudinally extending door on the handle provides access to at least some of the compartments in the handle. A hollow end cap is releasably affixed to the handle and includes one of the compartments as well as a lens for permitting visual access to the end cap compartment.
Abstract: A multi-purpose scissors which comprises a pair of first and second bodies which are pivotally connected by a detachable rivet or the like. The detachable rivet is arranged to be capable of being fixed to either one of a pair of positioning holes formed in the first body so that this can increase the relative movement of the first and second bodies hence to provide a more flexible function for the users. The first and second bodies are provided with a plurality of commonly used tools therefore it is a practical multi-purpose scissors.
Abstract: Insulation board for attachment mechanically to the exterior or interior walls of buildings and the like. The insulation board is composed of at least one panel of insulation material provided with a plurality of spaced, transversely extending holes for reception of fasteners for attaching the board to a building wall. Disposed coaxially within each hole is a flanged sleeve through which fasteners, such as screws, nails, welding studs or the like are inserted for securing the board in tight abutting relation to the surface of the wall. The fasteners are provided with heads which engage the flanged ends of the hollow sleeves, and have their opposite ends protruding from one surface of the insulation board for penetration into, and securement to, the wall.
Abstract: A weft metering device including a stationary spool, a yarn supply arm for wrapping yarn to the spool, stop means co-operable with the spool for permitting yarn wrapped on the spool to be pulled axially off the spool and intermittently operable drive means for driving said stop means to enable a predetermined whole number of turns of yarn wrapped on the spool to be pulled axially off the spool.
Abstract: A sputter ion pump with a cathode having blades arranged radially adjacent the cylindrical hollow cells of the anode. This arrangement increases the probability of grazing collisions useful for the formation of fast inert gas molecules, particularly argon. This improves the pumping speed and the speed stability in time.
Abstract: This disclosure relates a cylinder lock with anti-picking device. A shaft is provided to extend into the keyway of the lock to prevent the entry of any foreign object. Only when a special tool is used to retract the shaft can a key be inserted into the keyhole, thereby eliminating the risk of picking by unauthorized persons.
