Patent number: 4540886Abstract: A fail-safe system for monitoring a condition and activating controls in response either to the non-existence of that condition or the failure of any component in the system, in which a preliminary fail-safe oscillation train derived from sensing the condition is converted into a steady state indication of that condition, and a secondary fail-safe oscillation train is generated in a fail-safe way from said steady state indication for further transmission downstream for control purposes. In the context of flame monitoring, means associated with the preliminary oscillation train are provided for discriminating between separate flames and for time delay purposes.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1982Date of Patent: September 10, 1985Inventor: Jack A. Patent number: 4519433Abstract: Adjustable drapery traverse rods provided with a motor driven means for moving master carriers utilize a uniformly perforated drive tape and sprocket combination. Because of the perforations in the drive tape, the tape does not form a smooth curve when bent. The drive sprocket is thus adapted to allow the drive tape to lie flush against the sprocket as the tape passes over the sprocket over a wide range of tape tensions and, thereby, to drive the tape smoothly and noiselessly.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 1984Date of Patent: May 28, 1985Assignee: Kenney Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Paul E. Comeau

Patent number: 4495671Abstract: Adjustable telescoping drapery traverse rods are provided with positive drive means for master carriers comprising an essentially non-stretchable perforated drive tape and toothed drive-sprocket. Apparatus is also provided for adjusting the points of connection between the master carriers and the tape from the outside of the rod after the length of the rod has been adjusted to fit a given window (or the like) opening.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 1982Date of Patent: January 29, 1985Assignee: Kenney Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Paul E. Comeau, Anthony Torti

Patent number: 4492262Abstract: A telescoping drapery traverse rod is provided with a motor drive without sacrificing any of the simple consumer installation and adjustment features of conventional draw-cord operated traverse rods. It employes a positive-drive perforated-plastic tape and sprocket combination with the tape being releasably secured to the master carriers in a manner analogous to that of the conventional draw cord arrangement.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 1982Date of Patent: January 8, 1985Assignee: Kenney Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Paul E. Comeau

Patent number: 4490949Abstract: A molded plastic seating module is disclosed which is suitable for assembly in groups to form bench type row seating especially telescoping bleachers. Each module is hollow and comprises two sections, a contoured seat and an upstanding base. The base is adapted to be secured to the support structure both vertically and horizontally and to resist tipping and the presence of structural stress concentrations in use. The seat is adapted to engage the base in a snap fit relation along its front and rear walls.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 1982Date of Patent: January 1, 1985Assignee: Hussey Manufacturing CompanyInventors: David L. Sutter, Ivan J. Furbish, Roland C. Ferguson, Richard L. Berry, Douglas P. Barrows

Patent number: 4479408Abstract: A tool is provided for inserting an impregnated fibrous "string" or "cord" type repair into a puncture in a tubeless tire in which the bending stress is minimized such that any given repair can withstand greater stress than hitherto during insertion and/or weaker and more malleable repair materials may be employed.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1982Date of Patent: October 30, 1984Assignee: North Shore Laboratories CorporationInventor: Alec W. Niconchuk

Patent number: 4471275Abstract: A motor driven drapery closure is provided with means for operating the closure between defined opened and closed positions without the use of limit switches. Means are also provided to stop the operation of the motor and back it up slightly if a significant resistance is met by the closure at a point midway of its travel or as a result of coming to the designed end of its travel. Additional means are provided for operating the closure in response to means for sensing an outside ambient condition such as the level of infrared light.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1982Date of Patent: September 11, 1984Assignee: Kenney Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Paul E. Comeau

Patent number: 4461579Abstract: A motionless mixer combination is provided comprising modules made up of basic mixer components formed from flat stock and having an isosceles triangular base plate and a pair of vanes connected at equal and opposite angles to the legs of the triangle of the base plate. Modules are made up of combinations of the basic mixer components to provide equal and oppositely directed helical flow paths with the fluid flowing substantially longitudinally of the line of all included angles and transverse to the line of all reflex angles. The modules are also provided with means for subjecting the fluid to a strong mixing action by intersecting fluid streams along a transverse line in the vicinity of where the fluid flows into a downstream module from an adjacent upstream module.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 1983Date of Patent: July 24, 1984Assignee: Statiflo, Inc.Inventor: Henry McCallum
-
Patent number: 4438799Abstract: A shade of adjustable width is provided in which portions can be removed by tearing along score lines, and means including pull tabs are provided whereby a portion in the margin of the shade may be removed leaving a widened opening which terminates at an apex at a given score line such that pulling adjacent portions of the shade material concentrates stress at the score line and promotes clean tearing therealong.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 1982Date of Patent: March 27, 1984Assignee: Kenney Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Paul E. Comeau

Patent number: 4317692Abstract: An inside repair for tubeless tires is provided wherein a measured amount of an air (or moisture) curing elastomeric adhesive is applied to the cleaned and primed inner surface of the tire over the puncture hole, a porous path is placed over the adhesive and the adhesive is then forced into the puncture hole by use of a cup-shaped tool lined with a release material. After the material has cured sufficiently to form a substantial skin, the tire is inflated. Thereafter, the repair cures fully with the tire in the strained condition of inflation. The elastomer is of low durometer and is compatible for adhesion to rubber.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 1980Date of Patent: March 2, 1982Inventor: Alec W. Niconchuk
