Patent number: 5265719Abstract: The pet luggage has an elongated main compartment with outside pockets at the ends of the main compartment, thereby making the luggage extremely long as compared to its width but more comfortably carried than shorter luggage of comparable volume. One outside pocket is for a leash, and the other is for fecal clean-up equipment. The main compartment is protectively closed by three separate fastening systems, two of which are zippers for lowering a front panel of the main compartment and on of which is Velcro-type for holding the top panel in covering position over the main compartment. Unfastening any one of the three separate fastening systems gives access to the main compartment. The top and bottom panels are stiffened to relatively reduce their pliability as compared to other panels. Padding of panels is employed to enhance comfort as the luggage bumps against a person carrying it. Within the main compartment are such items as a towel holder, pockets for grooming items, and a medicine container.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 1992Date of Patent: November 30, 1993Inventor: Debra L. Patent number: 5125752Abstract: This shear mixer for polymeric material has two mateable bodies that, when pressed in mating condition together, form a reverse flow path for the movement of the material being mixed. The mixer has two mixing gaps, each defined by a primary wall surface on one body and an opposing wall surface on the other. Contractive movement of the two bodies together effectively causes the linear length of each mixing gap to increase and also causes one wall of each mixing gap to move in a direction opposite to the flow of material through the mixing gap. The mixing method involves not only increasing the length of a mixing gap as material is pushed through it for mixing, but also causing flow of material through one mixing gap to be in a direction opposite but parallel to the flow of material through the other mixing gap.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 1990Date of Patent: June 30, 1992Assignee: NDSU-Research FoundationInventors: Hans J. Patent number: 5066012Abstract: The polar-lighted recreational ball is substantially symmetrical about an axis of the ball body and hasa opposing polar regions at opposite ends of the axis. Axially recessed lighting assemblies at each polar region project light outwardly from the ball through a light passage at the polar regions. An annular cushion collar surrounds each polar light passage to cushion axial impacts on the ball. A skewing member causes the lighting assemblies to skew laterally from the axis upon compression impact approximately along the direction of the axis. The skewing member and the lighting assemblies are located in a channel running through the ball at the axis; and the ball is ideally of a substantially ellipsoidal football shape.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 1991Date of Patent: November 19, 1991Inventor: Steven P. Patent number: 4982743Abstract: The new low voltage itch reducer is characterized by having a treatment head comprising a body of electrically insulating material having a substantially flat face surface. A pattern of spaced electrode tips project outwardly from the face surface. The pattern includes electrode tips of opposite polarity in sufficiently spaced relationship so that discharge of electrical current through the air between tips of opposite polarity does not occur under the low voltage employed. The electrode tips at the edges of the pattern define the perimeter of it. The pattern has no face dimension greater than about 20 millimeters. The outward projection of the electrode tips is substantially equal for all tips of the pattern. Pressing the treatment head against a person's skin over an itching insect bits effectively permits the flat surface of the body of the head to contact the skin of the individual with the electrodes pressing into the skin, without penetrating the skin, over the insect bite.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 1990Date of Patent: January 8, 1991Inventor: Marlin R. Patent number: 4938868Abstract: The vacuum column system distills liquid under partial vacuum conditions. The system rigorously splashes and boils liquid in a boiler chamber so as to form vapor and a rising mist from the splashing liquid. The vapor and mist rise in a circularly converging path through a mist collector. The heavier mist strikes the surfaces of the mist collector and deposits on those surfaces, thereby separating itself from the vapor. The vapor is then drawn to a condensor chamber where droplets of treated liquid are sprayed through it and fall into a shallow pool of treated liquid. The droplets seed condensation of the vapor directly onto the droplets. Also, the droplets assist in encapsulating bubbles of vapor in the pool as the droplets fall into the pool. The bubbles are then entrained with other treated liquid of the pool as the treated liquid is drawn from the pool down an entrainment conduit.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 1988Date of Patent: July 3, 1990Inventor: Thomas R.
