  • Patent number: 4421294
Abstract: In a valve apparatus for controlling fluid flow wherein the apparatus comprises a valve assembly and valve housing; the valve housing including a valve chamber incorporating fluid inlet and outlet conduits and a valve seat; and the valve assembly including a valve stem and collar; the stem adapted to rectilinear but limited movement within said collar including a terminal flange extending into said valve chamber; a stop ring disposed about said valve stem and in spaced relation thereto below the level of said collar; a swivel bearing cup having a rim engaging abutting said terminal flange of said valve stem; and a resilient, compressible valve diaphragm mounted about said valve stem and swivel bearing cup within said chamber; the improvement that includes, among other novel features, a radial space provided between the upper portion of said neck of said valve stem and the inner diameter of said stop ring such that said space comprises up to about 160 percent of the thickness of said diaphragm neck.

  • Patent number: 4408745
Abstract: This invention relates to a faucet valve for controlling the rate of flow of fluid from a first conduit usually to a second conduit in which there is provided a valve stem adapted by means of an externally threaded collar to be mounted and retained in a faucet housing and a swivel valve attached to one end of the foregoing valve stem by engaging or gripping means including a plurality of spaced resilient elongate arms disposed circumferentially about the body of said valve and terminating in a series of fingers or detents retained in, but detachable from, an annular groove formed in the valve stem, and contiguous with the button or flattened knob or foot forming the adjacent end of the valve stem. The valve body is modified on one surface to provide a resilient snap-on engagement of the foregoing arms and fingers with the valve stem.
