Abstract: A communication system, comprising at least one mobile handheld telephone handset adapted to communicate with a telephone network handling system. The handset comprises means to produce first signals dependent thereupon, means to produce a voice transmission signal and means to transmit the voice transmission signal. The handset also comprises first processing means to carry out a speech recognition process to produce initial feature analysis parameter coefficients data dependent thereupon. The first processing step preserves predetermined information. The handset further comprises means to produce a data transmission. The telephone network handling system comprises means to receive the voice signal, means to forward the voice signal, and means to receive and process the data transmission signal. The telephone handling system also comprises means to carry out the remote second processing step in a speech recognition process on the regenerated data.

Abstract: The present invention relates to valve constructions which allows two different flow rates to pass through said valve, whether by two separate control signals or by one control signal and the second flow rate being attained automatically or inherently after the first flow rate has passed through the valve. The invention also includes a filter material cleaning system and a method of operating a filter material cleaning system which utilizes this valve but which helps to prevent the factors which would cause the re-deposition of the filtered particulate material whether onto the row of filter bags being cleaned, and or an adjacent row to the row being cleaned or two adjacent rows to the row being cleaned.

Abstract: A grain separator is disclosed comprising a plurality of operatively connected grain separator units and a grain inlet for feeding grain into the separator, wherein the grain is separated . The grain separator also has an outlet for dispensing the grain after the grain is separated and an internal drive for operating the units in separating grain.

Abstract: An at least two-wheeled vehicle provided with a power source, a chain to transmit power from the source to a first wheel, and further device to transmit power from the first wheel to the second wheel. A torque-limiting clutch is provided in the mechanical connection between the two wheels which will predetermine the maximum torque which will be transmitted from the first wheel to the second wheel. This clutch also permits the first wheel to travel faster than the second wheel, when required. There is also provided a free-wheeling clutch in the mechanical connection between the two wheels which permits the second wheel to rotate faster than the first wheel. The core of the transmission has the ability to absorb and release torque applied to it. The present invention provides improved traction and better steering ability.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for anchoring thread to the surface of a bobbin, the apparatus including a movable arm for grasping the bobbin and a lever attached to the movable arm, the lever having two members for engaging the surface of the bobbin with one of the members being a roller. The movable arm places the bobbin in a mandrel, and a second movable arm moves the thread between the roller and the surface of the bobbin. The roller is then brought into contact with the surface of the bobbin and the mandrel is rotated to thereby wind the thread onto the bobbin. The second movable arm includes a cutting blade for cutting the thread, and a hook and movable lever for moving the thread into position.

Abstract: A pin is disclosed that includes an elongated shaft having a constant diameter, and an elongated threaded portion having first and second axially separated ends, the first axial end being axially closer to the elongated shaft than the second axial end. The threaded portion has a root diameter that tapers linearly from a maximum value at the first axial end to a minimum value at the second axial end. The root diameter at the first axial end is substantially equal to the diameter of the elongated shaft itself. The pin also includes a drill end extending axially from the second axial end of the threaded portion such that the drill end is connected to the elongated shaft by the threaded portion.

Abstract: A method for monitoring damage to the protective covering of immersed or underground metal structures subjected to cathodic protection, based on the electrical resistance offered by said covering, and consisting of modulating the cathodic protection feed current and measuring the corresponding potential variation due to the ohmic loss, said resistance being obtained from the ratio of potential variation to modulation current, to activate an alarm system on sudden fall and rise in ohmic resistance due to accidental events.

Abstract: A circular knitting machine in which the inactivation or activation of a vertical jack below each needle is determined by a flexible fork located radially of the cylinder within a ring structure completely surrounding the machine cylinder and rigid therewith. A number of forks and radial grooves equal to the number of needles is provided, said forks being able to flex within said grooves and being selected by a magnetic force.
