Abstract: Electronic document design methods and computer programs allowing a user to separately control and modify layout and the design components of an electronic document. A number of possible document layouts and possible document designs are stored. A document is based on the combination of one of the stored layouts and one of the stored designs. While the user is viewing the electronic document, controls are available to the user allowing the user to view and select among alternate layouts and designs for that document. Color schemes and font schemes for the document may also be separated controlled.

Abstract: Method, system, and computer code for preparing markup language documents containing multi-line text elements for WYSIWYG printing. The document is rendered in a prepress server system by a duplicate of the browser that was used to prepare the document in the client system. User-imposed line breaks are identified by reviewing text elements for break characters. Browser-imposed line breaks are identified by comparing spatial location information from the browser for each sequential pair of characters in a text element. The collective line break information is used to ensure that the line breaks viewed by the user are maintained when the document is converted to a prepress system.

Abstract: Systems and methods for facilitating a WYSIWYG relationship between character strings when rendered on a relatively low resolution device, such as a computer monitor, and the same character strings when rendered on a relatively high resolution device, such as a laser printer or commercial offset printing press, involve determining the difference in the widths of each character string when rendered in both the low resolution format and the high resolution format and inserting or deleting space as required between the individual characters in the character string such that the widths of the low resolution and high resolution strings are substantially equalized.

Abstract: A method using two local clipboards in conjunction with the system clipboard to perform cut-and-paste and copy-and-paste operations during the creation and editing of markup language documents. A user editing a document has the option of cutting or copying an entire textbox or selected text from within a textbox. If an entire textbox is copied, two local clipboards are used in combination with the system clipboard to store related information in multiple locations. Upon receipt of a paste command from the user, if a text insertion cursor is present, the text to be pasted is inserted into an existing textbox. If no text insertion cursor is present, a new textbox is created and the text is inserted in the new textbox. The attributes of the text in a newly created textbox depend on how and from what source the text was cut or copied.

Abstract: Computerized client/server prepress using a downloadable document authoring program. A server has stored thereon a document authoring program. The program is adapted to download to a client computer and run in the browser of the client computer. The authoring program allows the client to create an electronic document, view the document in WYSIWYG form, and upload the created document to the server for subsequent translation to a suitable prepress format.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for handling data transfer between a synchronous keyboard and a host processor is disclosed. An asynchronous receiver/transmitter is employed in conjunction with logic for controlling the keyboard clock and data lines to permit the receipt of data from and the transmittal of data to the keyboard in a pseudo-synchronous manner.

Abstract: A communications node for handling circuit and packet switching and capable of expansion to include multiple switching matrices, multiple network processors and multiple packet processors is disclosed. Each switch matrix has multipile I/O ports and communications with user interfaces, network interfaces and other system components via bidirectional data links. At least one switch matrix is connected via a bidirectional data link to a packet processor and a network processor. All processors are interconnected via a computer bus. Switch matrices are connected to each other either by a backplane bus or via bidirectional data links.

Abstract: Apparatus for storing and retrieving display information in the memory of a video display terminal is disclosed. Terminal processor logical addresses are mapped into terminal memory in both a pixel address format and a word address format. Terminal memory is divided into four planes, each plane containing one bit of the 4-bit ordinal associated with each pixel in the color display image. Address interface logic generates the appropriate RAM row and column addresses based on the type of memory access and the purpose of the access. A plurality of separate write enable signals, separate upper and lower column address strobe signals and separate row address strobes for each plane allow flexibility in placing data in or removing data from terminal memory planes.

Abstract: Electronic apparatus and method is disclosed for generating a linearity correction signal for use in or with a CRT electron beam deflection circuit. In a preferred embodiment, transistor is used to vary the parameters of a multiple feedback infinite gain bandpass filter such that the filter is essentially on the point of oscillation during trace, but is highly damped during retrace.

Abstract: A circuit for regulation of a D.C. output voltage in a switching power supply. The circuit contains a control transformer having primary, secondary and control windings. The output of the circuit is connected from the primary and secondary windings and is controlled by a switching element connected from the control winding. The circuit output error is provided to duty cycle modulation circuitry which varies the duty cycle of the switching element, thereby controlling the output voltage level.

Abstract: An improved wire matrix ballistic impact printhead apparatus including a plurality of engaging structures for maintaining the armatures of a like plurality of electromagnetic actuators in proper positional alignment with the associated print style, for allowing individual adjustment of armatures to optimize printhead operation, for preloading the armatures with a force that will return them to their original position after the printing operation, and for damping vibrations at printhead operating frequencies.
