  • Patent number: 4153178
Abstract: Latch for a hinged plastic box wherein a flexible plastic slide fits around the shoulders of a T-shaped rail projecting from the cover part of the box. A tab projecting from the container part of the box fits into a notch in the rail, after which the slide is moved along the rail to latch the cover part to the container part. A detent on the slide then is snapped into place against the rail to provide second latching action.

  • Patent number: 4097634
Abstract: Essentially continuous thermoplastic resin molding of complex decorative relief is produced by continuously extruding molten resin into a rotating forming wheel and cooling and removing the molded resin from the wheel. A doctor wheel cooperates with the forming wheel to provide a flat surface to which a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer may be applied for bonding the resin molding to an intended substrate.

  • Patent number: 4090662
Abstract: A magnetizable layer having an H.sub.c of at least 3000 oersteds pre-encoded with digital data is permanently bonded to the face of a document and has a permanent protective overlayer which, if magnetizable, has relatively low H.sub.c and can be used for recording transaction data.

  • Patent number: 4086388
Abstract: A bumper button or strip comprising (a) a rubbery cushion of oil-plasticized thermoplastic elastomer, (b) a dual-layer film, one layer of which is a polyolefin such as polyethylene fused to the rubbery cushion, the other layer of which is an oriented polyester polymer such as biaxially-oriented polyethylene terephthalate film, and (c) a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer adhered to the polyester polymer. The polyester polymer serves as a barrier to prevent migration of the plasticizing oil into the pressure-sensitive adhesive.

  • Patent number: 4060837
Abstract: Binary numbers are recorded on a track of a medium in the form of signals of first and second voltage levels, respectively indicating alternate timing signals of uniform time duration t and data signals of variable time duration x. A timing signal is followed by a short data signal to indicate binary zero, by a longer data signal to indicate binary one, and by even longer data signals to indicate the absence of binary data. The signals may be decoded by counting up from zero during each timing signal and down during each data signal such that a positive count-down indicates a binary zero, a relatively small negative count-down indicates a binary one, and a relatively large negative count-down indicates absence of binary data.

  • Patent number: 4053702
Abstract: A means for relieving dielectric stress at a termination of a shielded and insulated high voltage cable. A smooth geometry high permittivity homogeneous material tube coaxially contacts both the ground electrode and the high voltage electrode. The tube consists of an elastomeric material having a permittivity in a range of from 10 to 25. The elastomeric material is non-rigid, thereby enabling the tube to be more readily fitted firmly around the cable and into the housing of the stress relief means. The ground electrode is the outer portion of the housing and diverges from the opening of the housing at the vicinity thereof in a direction toward the high voltage electrode. This dielectric stress relief means provides a satisfactory electric field gradient in applications wherein the rating is in a range from 15 kilovolts to 35 kilovolts.

  • Patent number: RE28832
Abstract: Electric metering device including at least two coulometric cells which experience a sharp voltage rise upon deplating. The current is metered by passing current through one cell until it is deplated, whereupon the sharp voltage rise causes a second cell to become conducting. In a typical application, the cells would then be replaced and recharged for reuse.
