  • Patent number: 5368464
Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel method and apparatus for cutting small pieces of fabric by means of an ultrasonic horn and a hollow open centered cutting anvil. The cutting operation includes a pick mechanism incorporating two tapered pins and a stripper pad to maintain the fabric position before, during, and after the cutting operation. The pick head mechanism is designed to insure accuracy in locating these small fabric pieces, referred to as chips, in a subsequent assembly operation performed by the pick head. The assembly operation relates to attachment of small pieces of fabric by means of two miniature ultrasonic horns. The horns are combined with a pick and place mechanism which incorporates two tapered pins and a stripper pad to maintain the fabric position during the manufacturing process. This pick and place head, when attached to a robotic arm, is designed to insure accuracy in locating these small fabric pieces repeatedly in a thermoplastic cartridge.

  • Patent number: 5246644
Abstract: The critical dimensions of product samples made during a standard certification procedure for an injection molding process are measured and a loss factor value is computed for each such dimension. Using statistical techniques, the largest loss factor value is partitioned into percentages of loss contributed by a predetermined set of loss elements. The loss element contributing the largest percentage is corrected so as to improve the quality of the process and the product. The method provides a way of determining what kinds of process corrections will most effectively improve product and process quality.

  • Patent number: 5238380
Abstract: An injection molding machine control device where mold element separation distance is measured and integrated as a function of time while moldable material is being introduced in the mold cavity between the mold elements. When the integral value reaches a preselected value, the mold injection pressure is changed and the moldable material is allowed to cure within the cavity.

  • Patent number: 5200126
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for monitoring the process stability of an injection molding machine having a reciprocating screw engaged in the plasticating of a moldable material in preparation to its being introduced into the mold cavity. The invention involves the measurement of the duration of the operation of the screw engaged in the plasticating of the moldable material and includes the analysis of this duration over a period of time thus providing the supervisor with the necessary information to determine whether the machine/process is meeting or deviating from the desired operating requirements.

  • Patent number: 4438693
Abstract: A silk screen cap printing device has a saddle secured to a frame member for mounting a cap for printing. The saddle has a flat platen which supports the front panel of the cap and is further designed to provide interior supports to the cap thereby blocking it. This blocking prevents creases along the front panel and serves to maintain the cap in position during printing. A means for mounting the cap in the same position upon the saddle each time is provided by a registration plate which is secured to the frame in a spaced-apart perpendicular relationship to the platen and defines a channel between the platen and the plates for receiving the sweatband of the cap. Also connected to the frame is a silk screen which is adapted to move between an advanced position wherein the silk screen contacts the front panel of the cap which is mounted upon the saddle and a retracted position wherein the silk screen is withdrawn for changing caps.

  • Patent number: 4425690
Abstract: For anchoring a mat to the carpet of an automobile against forward movement, a clip for engaging the mat at its rearward edge is operated by a protector plate which shields the clip from impact while also serving to operate the jaws between an open and a closed position. The clip is linked to a hook so as to permit independent lateral and longitudinal movement by the clip with respect to the hook. The hook has a forward facing pin portion for engaging the automobile carpet and an anchoring stud portion extending substantially perpendicularly to said pin portion also for engaging said carpet and resisting the accidental removal of the pin. The hook is made of a springy material and is so shaped as to cause the carpet to be pinched between the pin portion and another part of the hook, thereby providing additional resistance to the withdrawal of the pin from the carpet.

  • Patent number: 4408368
Abstract: Discloses a portable chimney device for removing creosote deposits and soot from a chimney flue while the chimney is in operation, or during a chimney fire, and without said device causing damage to the chimney flue, its liner, or chimney bottom. The device has a frame mounting a drum reel whose cable is operatively connected to an impacting weight freely carrying upper and lower cutters with a spacer ring therebetween, with such cutters disposed between upper and bottom rings fixed to the impacting weight. Upward and downward movements of the frame transmit ramming impact by means of the fixed rings to the cutters to effect removal of the creosote deposits and soot. Also discloses a portable chimney device to clean the chimney flue of creosote deposits and soot as a matter of periodic maintenance.

  • Patent number: 4010863
Abstract: Discloses a container having a new crankcase oil compartment with a communicating spout for introduction therein and removal therefrom of new crankcase oil, and having a waste crankcase oil compartment with downwardly sloped portions of a drain funnel in common with a communicating screened opening for draining crankcase oil into the waste crankcase oil compartment. A communicating extension facilitates removal of waste crankcase oil from such compartment. Scales graduated in discrete units of liquid measure indicate the quantities of new and waste crankcase oil in their respective compartments.
