  • Patent number: 7845622
Abstract: A hoist device adaptable to lift or pull load material of various types. The hoist device is attachable to the trailer hitch of a vehicle and comprises a telescopic boom of a pair of rectangular tubular members attachable slidably to a base support member. In adjacent position on the base support is a control post member to which other components are attached, including a motor-driven winch positionable on the upright end thereof. A lifting component is attachable to the end of the boom member to be able to rotate easily, in any direction, since the angular movement of the boom member is always only one direction in regard to the axis of the boom member. A cable is used to operate the movement of the boom member, and has one end attached to the winch and a second end attached to a rigid component on the boom member after engaging pulley means on the boom member or control post member as chosen to provide suitable angular orientation of the boom member and telescopic extension of the boom member.

  • Patent number: 5887380
Abstract: A fishing lure enhancement device comprises a weighted body having an attachment member at a first end providing for attachment of fishing tackle to the body. A wire-like leg member has a first end thereof secured at a second end of the body, and the leg member has a loop portion adjacent the second end of the body. The leg extends at a 90 degree angle from the longitudinal axis of the body and the leg is at least as long as the longitude of the body. The leg has means for attaching fishing tackle at a second end thereof. Thus, the length and direction of attachment of the leg permit attachment of fishing tackle of various characteristics to the leg and to the attachment member on the body while providing non-interfering operation of the entire apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5819846
Abstract: A bridge plug positionable within a well casing and adaptable for sealing the casing comprises a flexible sealing element positionable to be driven into a sealing position by the force of a compressing mechanism which includes a first component held stationarily below the sealing element and a second component positioned movably above the sealing element. Coincidentally with the compressive movement of the sealing element, an upper and a lower member of the compressing mechanism provide means for securing the bridge plug in position, fracture, with the fractured portions of each driven securely against the inner wall of the casing. Cooperative portions of the bridge plug have components which interlock in a manner to guide a slip radially outwardly toward the inner wall of the casing for equal distribution against the casing wall upon fracturing. The even distribution of the slip portions provide for equal distribution of the lateral force upon the sealing element upon being compressed.

  • Patent number: 5820362
Abstract: A furnace for heating a process fluid stream which includes means for efficiently controlling a flow of the process fluid stream through an adjunct loop of the fluid stream. The adjunct loop comprises a heat exchange system in which a portion of the process fluid stream collects heat from flue gases being emitted from the furnace and donates heat to combustion air being used in the furnace. Valve means is positioned downstream of a pump and in connection with the fluid stream in order to constantly replenish a small portion of fluid in the adjunct loop with fresh process fluid. The positioning of the valve means downstream of the pump permits more efficient control of the heat exchange system. One form of valve means may be a valve which will permit a small amount of fluid to continue to flow between the fluid stream and the adjunct loop during a non-operating mode of the adjunct loop heat exchange component.

  • Patent number: 5816796
Abstract: A furnace for heating a process fluid stream which includes means for precisely controlling the temperature of pre-heated combustion air. The system includes a process fluid stream being heated within the furnace and an adjunct loop fluid stream line which acts as a heat exchange system by communication with the process fluid stream. The adjunct loop comprises a heat collecting leg positionable within the combustion area of the furnace and a heat donating leg positionable adjacent a source of combustion air. Manipulation of the flow of process fluid through the heat donating leg provides control of the temperature of the combustion air and consequently control of the stack exhaust temperature. A valve system, which may be manually controlled or thermostatically controlled responds to a present, or desired, temperature of the stack exhaust.

  • Patent number: 5302205
Abstract: A tool for guiding filler material, such as caulking or putty, into a nail hole or similar opening in a structure so that a smooth, unblemished finished surface may be obtained. The tool comprises a thin plate having a plurality of holes therethrough, the holes being of different diameters; and a handle attached to one end of the plate. In use, the plate is positioned so that a hole in the plate is aligned with a nail hole and filler material is urged through the hole in the plate to fill the nail hole. The handle is oriented at a low angle in relation to the plate so that the user may rest his hand on the structure to steady the tool while guiding filler material into an opening. The holes are of different diameter to provide a hole which may be of substantially the same diameter as the nail hole being filled. The holes are perpendicular to a tangential surface have a wider diameter at the bottom of the plate than at the top of the plate.

  • Patent number: 5265294
Abstract: A mattress of plastic foam material for medical purposes. The foam material is polyvinylchloride foam which has been coated with polyvinylchloride to create a completely seamless surface. Thus, the material is made impenetrable to potentially infectious body fluids which might be deposited thereon. In addition, the method of forming the entirely seamless surface prevents the accumulation of pathogenic fluids in various crevices which would otherwise be present in other types of seamless structures.

  • Patent number: 5201418
Abstract: A system for safely and conveniently disposing of contaminated hypodermic needles comprises a disposal container for accumulating contaminated hypodermic needles which had been disposed therein after having been initially collected within a tray containing a supply of needle-retaining material. The needle-retaining material is a soft material, similar to art gum eraser material, which is soft enough for a needle to penetrate yet sticky enough to retain the needle when the needle is released from the syringe. The tray comprises a base, a pair of side walls, a handle extending from one side wall for easy transport of the tray, and the supply of needle-retaining material. The needle-retaining material in the tray may be presented in two different forms, either as a contiguous supply of strips in the tray or as individual small cup-like depressions each containing a small amount.

  • Patent number: 5047948
Abstract: A medication dispensing system comprises a portable, securable medication cabinet which includes a programmable logic controller to provide for patient medication control. The system includes periperal components such as a transmitter, patient response means, display means, and a clock. The securable medication cabinet permits easy access by the patient to medication which is prescribed and dispensed logically. The securable cabinet restricts access by the patient to unauthorized medication. The securable medication cabinet contains a plurality of medication dispensing components, each comprising dispensing means, such as a coil attached to a motor positioned interiorly of a wall of the cabinet, to hold a medication package and dispense the package upon actuation of the dispensing means, with means for actuating the dispensing means. A receptacle in the bottom of the cabinet receives a medication package as it is dispensed.
