    Abstract: An apparatus disposed in a speedometer-odometer drive assembly for transferring and translating the rotation of a speedometer drive cable to a speedometer needle registering speed and an odometer registering distance, having a field cup disposed at one end of a drive shaft in communication with the speedometer cable and rotatable about a central axis with this shaft. The rim of the field cup is discontinuous at at least one point about its periphery by virtue of a cut or split being upset with respect to the radial plane of the surface of the field cup rim. These cut or split edges of the field cup rim act to engage successive threads or teeth on a gear means driving the odometer as the field cup rotates. A flux cup is inserted into the field cup to cover a magnet mounted within the field cup. The flux cup responds to the magnetic field created by the rotating magnet, thereby driving said speedometer. The gear means driving the odometer comprise a camming means fixedly mounted on a face gear.

The positioning discs are axially mounted on a central shaft, the lower of these discs enables the grinding apparatus to be initially inserted and centered within the cylinder while the upper disc is expandable within the cylinder for securing the grinding apparatus in the proper orientation for a grinding tool to refinish the surface of the cylinder head retainer seat square to the axis of the cylinder bore.

    Abstract: A feed and takeoff assembly particularly adapted for use in connection with a printing press to automatically transfer generally flat stock from a first position to a print position and to a delivery position, having a frame, a transfer carriage mounted for movement along the frame, a single elongated feed gripper mounted near one end of the transfer carriage and disposed transversely to the path of travel of the carriage along the frame, and a low profile delivery gripper mounted near the opposite end of the transfer carriage for movement therewith along the frame. The delivery gripper acts to remove an entire sheet of printed stock at a desired time by a cam-operated opening and closing of pivotally mounted upper and lower jaws.

    Abstract: A freeze drying apparatus of the manifold type having a generally horizontal free standing condenser tube enclosed within a removable hollow manifold having a plurality of ports formed in it for communication with the interior of containers having specimens to be sublimated. The condenser tube is disposed generally along the central axis of the manifold so that the distance between the condensing surface and the manifold ports is relatively short and constant to provide fast and uniform sublimation. The condenser tube is packed with a woven copper mesh to provide increased surface area for wetting by the refrigerant fluid thereby increasing the condenser capacity and reducing its temperature. The location of the condenser tube within the manifold provides a single volume to be evacuated and speeds system recovery as new materials are added to the system.

    Abstract: A smokeless lubricant for coating the interior surfaces of glass forming molds to protect them during contact with molten glass and to facilitate release of formed glass products, including an inert fluid carrying medium, a thermally inert chemical compound suspended in this medium and a wetting agent which causes the chemical compound to adhere to molecules of the fluid carrying medium. The method of lubricating glass forming molds with such a lubricant by mixing selected amounts of the chemical compound and wetting agent in the fluid carrying medium to form the lubricant, stirring or agitating this mixture to maintain the compound in suspension within the carrying medium, and flash-heating this lubricant to a temperature sufficient to vaporize the carrying medium and cause the chemical compound to be exploded onto the interior surfaces of the mold to coat these surfaces.
