Abstract: A biosensor detection system for detecting a particular substance has at least two biosensor devices. Each biosensor device includes a piezoelectric material, an input transducer mounted on the piezoelectric material to receive an input radio frequency signal and propagate a corresponding acoustic wave within the piezoelectric material and an output transducer mounted on the piezoelectric material to receive the acoustic wave and transmit a corresponding output radio frequency signal. A biolayer is mounted on the piezoelectric material to receive a substance to be tested and cause a corresponding change in the acoustic wave. An oscillator circuit is connected to the input transducer and to the output transducer, the oscillator circuit including an amplifier and providing an output signal indicative of a change in the acoustic wave.

Abstract: A method of sensing the concentration level of at least one particular electrolyte in the sweat fluid of a subject, includes providing a sweat sensor system having sweat fluid absorbing material, measuring apparatus for sensing the electrical conductivity of sweat fluid absorbed by the absorbing material and producing ionic concentration data for said at least one particular electrolyte, and a user interface connected to the measurement apparatus for interpreting the data to a user. The absorbing material is applied to the skin of the subject to cause sweat fluid thereon to be absorbed by the absorbing material whereby the measurement apparatus produces ionic concentration data for the sweat fluid absorbed and the user interface interprets the data for a user.
Abstract: An oxygen therapy face mask has a face engaging portion and a valve assembly connected thereto. The valve assembly has a first passage communicating with the interior of the face engaging portion from which gas can flow into the face engaging portion and into a patient's mouth and nose and which can also receive gas from a patient's mouth and nose and the interior of the face engaging portion. A first one-way valve is associated with the first passage and a second passage connectable to an oxygen reservoir bag and to an external source of pressurized oxygen. The first one-way valve is operable to permit flow of gas from the second passage to the first passage and to prevent flow of gas from the first passage to the second passage. A second one-way valve is associated with the first passage and is operable to permit flow of gas from the first passage to the external atmosphere and to prevent flow of gas from the external atmosphere to the first passage.
Abstract: A gas powered gun has a gun barrel, a cylinder containing a primary piston moveable between a loading position and a firing position, a secondary piston moveable within the primary piston between a loading position in which the leading end of the secondary piston is sufficiently withdrawn in the barrel to permit a projectile to be fed into the barrel through an opening in the side thereof and a firing position in which the secondary piston has moved forwardly to cause the leading end of the secondary piston to engage the projectile and move the projectile forwardly in the barrel. A trigger is operable to cause the primary piston and the secondary piston to move simultaneously from the loading position to the firing position. The cylinder has a chamber through which the primary piston and the secondary piston extend.
Abstract: A hockey stick blade has a puck impacting portion with at least one groove extending along the length of the blade. The groove contains a titanium thermoset substantially co-planar with the surface of the blade.
Abstract: A protective housing assembly for a camera has a carrier member securable to a support, a tubular protective member detachably secured at a rear end to the carrier member, and a front end cap detachably secured to a front end of the tubular protective member, the front end cap having a transparent window. The carrier member has a camera mounting member which enables a camera to be detachably secured thereto whereby the camera is located within the tubular protective member and oriented to receive light from the exterior through the transparent window of the front end cap.
Abstract: A support post and safety fence assembly in which the post has a telescoping inner and outer tube and is supported on a threaded internal shaft coupled to a floor engaging end and ceiling engaging end preferably formed with claws that have a number of sharp penetrating points for firm engagement with a support surface. In one embodiment, a gravity lock assembly is provided for fixing the relative position of the inner and outer tubes. Dynamic adjustability of the support post is provided by internal compression springs.
Abstract: A deployable acoustic wave RFID/biosensor assembly has at least one protective layer, and an acoustic wave RFID/biosensor within the protective layer or layers. The acoustic wave RFID/biosensor includes an acoustic wave device, a biolayer mounted on the acoustic wave device, an electric circuit operable to actuate the acoustic wave device, and a fluidic chamber associated with the biolayer. In use, the fluidic chamber contains fluid which, if a predetermined substance to be sensed is present, operates to modify the biolayer which in turn affects the operation of the acoustic wave device. Protective fluid is provided within the protective layer or layers substantially surrounds the acoustic wave RFID/biosensor to protect the acoustic wave RFID/biosensor from damage when the RFID/biosensor assembly impacts a target and to protect the biolayer from deterioration during storage and use.

Abstract: A manually-operable resuscitator operable also to inject medication into air being supplied to a patient. The resuscitator has a resiliently compressible air bag having an inlet and an outlet. The inlet has a one-way valve through which air passes into the bag from the atmosphere and a patient valve through which air flows in passing from the bag to the patient. The patient valve has a one-way valve member through which air flows in passing from the bag to the patient. The patient valve also has a passage extending from the atmosphere to the interior thereof adjacent to the one-way valve member and upstream thereof through which medication can be injected into the air as it passes from the bag to the one-way valve member.
Abstract: Gauge distribution apparatus for plastic film has a frame, a rotor mounted on the frame for sequential reversed rotation about a substantially vertical axis, and at least one slot in the rotor through which two lengths of plastic film can pass upwardly with spaced adjacent faces from below the rotor. First and second turning members are mounted on the rotor for receiving a respective length of plastic film and changing the direction of motion thereof from upwardly to horizontally. A series of upstanding circumferentially spaced film engaging members extend around the rotor, each film engaging member having an outer surface for engagement by the plastic film. Third and fourth turning members are mounted on the frame for receiving a respective length of plastic film after it has engaged at least one of the film engaging members and changing its direction of motion from horizontally to vertically.
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for transmitting a file associated with an email message from an issuer device in a network to a recipient device in the network. The email message and file are generated by the issuer device in response to a request received at the issuer device. The system comprises a proxy server in the network, processing software operating on the proxy server and transmission software operating on the issuer device. The transmission software operating on the issuer device has an attachment selection module and an attachment transmission module. The attachment selection module generates an attachment identifier related to the file, the attachment identifier identifies the issuer device, a version of the file and a location in the network for the proxy server. The attachment selection module further generates an email for transmission to the recipient device, the email having the attachment identifier attached thereto.
Abstract: This invention is a method to determine the condition of rotating equipment, namely drive spindles, to enable the timely maintenance or replacement of same. The method uses an electrical signal from a vibration sensor mounted on part of the drive train to measure the level of vibration energy when the equipment is rotating under loaded and unloaded conditions. The relative vibration under the loaded and unloaded conditions is used as an indicator of equipment condition. Typically there is more vibration under load when the equipment is in good condition. When the level of vibration under the no-load condition matches or exceeds that seen under load, the equipment needs to be serviced or replaced.

Abstract: A SAW communication device has a main IDT mounted on an SAW substrate to receive an RF signal received by an antenna and convert the RF signal to an acoustic wave which travels along the SAW substrate in opposite directions from the main IDT. At least two secondary IDTs are mounted on the SAW substrate on opposite sides of and spaced from the main IDT to receive and reflect the acoustic wave in a modulated form such that the modulated acoustic wave from one secondary IDT is delayed relatively to the modulated acoustic wave from a secondary IDT on the opposite side of the main IDT to the one secondary IDT. The main IDT is also operable to receive and convert the reflected modulated acoustic waves to a further RF signal with a concatenated waveform corresponding to the two modulated acoustic waves and transmit the further RF signal from the antenna.
