Patent number: 4691533Abstract: In a refrigeration system, a centrifugal economizer discharges liquid towards an evaporator through a wholly static restriction (17), the dimension of which is chosen so as to allow no gas or little gas to escape with the liquid at the conditions of maximum pressure ratio in permanent operation. When the pressure ratio is lower, the flow rate allowed by the restriction tends to decrease with respect to the flow rate delivered by the compressor. This entails an increase in the radial thickness of the liquid ring in the centrifugal device. This in turn increases the pressure upstream of the restriction, whereby compensating the initial tendency of the flow rate to decrease through the restriction.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 1986Date of Patent: September 8, 1987Inventor: Bernard Zimmern

Patent number: 4673843Abstract: An electrically-conductive member is provided on the outer wall of a cathode-sealing portion of a dc discharge lamp such as a super high pressure mercury vapor lamp, and the electrically-conductive member is electrically connected to a sealed cathodic conductor which is contained in the cathode-sealing portion and connected to its cathode rod. The electric potential of the electrically-conductive member is thus kept equal to that of the sealed cathodic conductor while the dc discharge lamp is in operation. As a result, the air-tight connection between the sealed cathodic conductor and the quartz glass of the cathode-sealing portion is maintained stably over a long period of time. Such a dc discharge lamp assures long service life and high reliability.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 1985Date of Patent: June 16, 1987Assignee: Ushio Denki Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Tsuneo Okanuma

Patent number: 4653904Abstract: Disclosed herein is an exposure intensity detecting system suitable for use in a copying machine. The detecting system is characterized in that a light-shielding plate is arranged underneath a glass table for an original document and defining therethrough a projection slit and a detection slit which extends in parallel with the projection slit. The intensity of light passed through the detection slit of the light-shielding plate is detected by a photosensor. The detecting system can correctly detect the intensity of light, which is to be used for the exposure of a photosensitive member, without giving any influence to the distribution of light to be employed for the illumination of the original document and to the exposure of the photosensitive member. By controlling the quantity of light to be radiated from a light-source lamp in accordance with detection signals of the photosensor, it is always possible to achieve good exposure and hence to form superb duplicate marks.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 1985Date of Patent: March 31, 1987Assignee: Ushio Denki Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Kenji Imamura
