  • Patent number: 5868292
Abstract: A frame carrier including a soft body portion and a frame formed of a resin material. The soft body portion includes a front portion, a back portion, side portions and a seat portion connected to the back portion. The seat portion includes a forward end with an adjustment strap attached to the frame wherein the adjustment of the length of the adjustment strap may be used to adjust the height of the seat portion. A pivoted leg stand is provided including a pivot connection which defines two predetermined positions for the leg stand. The pivot connection includes cooperating cam and detent members wherein the two positions for the leg stand are defined by movement of the cam relative to the detent. The carrier further includes an adjustable waist belt including a pair of clips engaged in vertically extending slots in the frame. A plurality of mounting points for the clips are defined along the slots to thereby define different height positions for the waist belt.

  • Patent number: 5725139
Abstract: A backpack includes a waistbelt system with a pocket formed by a pair of longitudinally extending spaced-apart flexible straps for receiving the hipbone of the user. The pocket is formed by a pair of longitudinally extending spaced-apart flexible strap. One of the longitudinally extending horizontal straps on either side of the waistbelt system is adjustable so that each separate side of the waistbelt system can be tilted to fit users having large hips or stomachs. A pair of hip cushions are provided on the waistbelt system, one on either side, which are connected to the remainder of the waistbelt system in a manner which allows relative movement between the hip cushion and the waistbelt assembly to reduce frictional forces upon the user. A shoulder width-adjustment system includes a spring bias member and an adjustment strap which allows a pair of shoulder strap support members to be adjusted to the desired shoulder width.

  • Patent number: 5708970
Abstract: In a wireless sound monitoring system, ambient sounds are monitored by a microphone and transmitted over a phase or frequency modulated transmitter to a receiver. A sound actuated switch responsive to ambient sounds louder than a predetermined level turns the transmitter on and causes a hidden tone to be generated. A delay circuit caused the hidden tone to be terminated before the transmitter is turned off when the sound level decreases. In the receiver, a mute circuit responds to the hidden tone to control the output of a loudspeaker, and thus, the hidden tone prevents a squelch tail from being heard. The monitoring unit also includes a pulse generator to cause the hidden tones to be generated at regular intervals, but with short pulse widths.

  • Patent number: 5692655
Abstract: A soft child carrier including a soft body member attached to a relatively rigid back portion. A pair of shoulder straps are attached to the carrier adjacent to upper and lower ends of the back portion, and a waist belt extends from opposing sides of the lower end of the back portion. The relatively stiff back portion facilitates the transferring of the weight of a child to the waist belt such that a substantial portion of the child's weight is transferred away from the shoulder straps to thereby relieve the amount of weight carried on the shoulders and upper back of a person supporting the carrier. A seat adjustment is also provided whereby an adjustment strap extending along the back portion may be pulled or released to cause a height for the seat portion of the carrier to be increased or decreased depending on the size of the child.

  • Patent number: 5567055
Abstract: A lashing system for selectively attaching a component to a piece of material includes a pair of anchors or loops which are attached in a spaced part relationship to the piece of material. A pair of releasable connectors are provided on the component for engaging with the loops. The releasable connectors are positioned so that a fixed portion is mounted to the front side of the component and a moveable portion of the releasable connector is mounted at a terminal end to the back side of the component. The free end of the moveable portion of the releasable connector can be threaded through the loop to engage the loop and then can be connected to the matching surface of the releasable connector on the front side of the component. A lashing system is provided for the interior or exterior of a travel bag or backpack to lash containers, panels, or walls to the side panels thereof. A matrix of anchors is provided for the releasable connectors on the containers, panels or walls to engage therewith.
