  • Patent number: 5670073
Abstract: A water cooled gas metal arc welding (MIG) gun which is provided with a water cooling system for the gun barrel that introduces the coolant water at the bottom of the barrel to create a coolant water flow through the gun that does not allow the coolant water to stagnate and heat up. The gun includes a water cooled shielding gas cup on the lower end that ensures coolant water flow therethrough, and provides metal thickness at the end of the cup which prevents physical abuse of the cup from affecting the guns' performance. The gun has a shielding gas delivery system which ensures good shielding gas flow and allows for replaceable shielding gas diffusers.

  • Patent number: 5613692
Abstract: A circular flexible collet that provides a 360 degree gripping engagement with a cylindrical workpiece and which is operable by an actuator member incorporated in a workpiece chuck. The collet may be constructed as an internal collet for gripping engagement with a workpiece internal periphery, or as an external collet for gripping engagement with a workpiece external periphery. The flexible collet may be used for single, or plural workpiece gripping actions. The collet includes a spring steel body having a radial opening and an outer and an inner circular periphery. One circular periphery is a workpiece gripping surface, and the other circular periphery has a tapered cam surface engageable by a workpiece chuck actuator member. The tapered cam surface has a plurality of circumferentially spaced apart slots having an open outer end. In an internal collet the tapered cam surface is formed around the collet body inner periphery.

The shock absorber provides dual function metering that combines soft contact dampening with the self compensating ability to decelerate a wide range of weights. The shock absorber includes a low pressure zone, a hydraulic cylinder having a high pressure zone chamber, a piston in said cylinder for movement under a shock load through a predetermined stroke length, a fluid pathway metering control means, having four fluid metering pathways of which the first three fluid metering pathways are approximately linear spaced apart, for controlling high pressure fluid escaping from the high pressure zone chamber into the lower pressure zone, ahead of the piston as the piston moves from an initial position in response to a shock load through a total stroke to a final position, to create five control zones during the compression of the shock absorber.
