  • Patent number: 4076450
Abstract: Volute pumps are frequently used for abrasive liquids such as in the transportation of aqueous slurrys of finely divided coal and similar materials. Since pumps for such purposes are very large, they are ordinarily made as double volute pumps to minimize radial thrust. When pumps are used for abrasive materials, the wear on the pump occurs primarily at the volute lips. In accordance with the present invention, a volute pump is provided with replaceable lips so that the lips can be replaced as they become worn. Further, the lips can be made of a much more resistant material than the body of the pump.

  • Patent number: 4061882
Abstract: A decoder is provided for a FM radio four-channel system having the usual 19 kHz pilot signal, a first subcarrier at 38 kHz, a second subcarrier in quadrature therewith, and another subcarrier at 76 kHz. The decoder of the present invention is a time division system wherein the 19 kHz pilot signal is doubled and the phase shifted 90.degree.. This produces sine and cosine 38 kHz signals to provide a first pair of outputs, and each of these signals is inverted to provide a second pair of outputs. By properly adding the four outputs thus derived, switching signals are provided to decode the four channel information.

  • Patent number: 4046590
Abstract: A process for producing a colorless low-ash, high-purity sugar syrup from cane molasses wherein centrifuged molasses is acidified and treated with an ion exclusion resin. The resin is then eluted with water, and fractions of similar compositions are combined for recycling. The process yields a product similar to refiner's syrup, which is readily further purified by carbon and ion exchange resins to provide a high-quality syrup.
