Abstract: A reflective type photocathode of a photomultiplier includes a porous antimony layer in overlay relation to a layer of solid antimony along a supporting substrate.
Abstract: An electrostatic field shaping electrode is mounted external to an image intensifier tube in proximate spaced-apart aligned coaxial relation to an insulating envelope wall portion which is exposed to an internal electron accelerating cavity. The field shaping electrode may be employed during the operation of the tube for substantially preventing electron bombardment of the exposed insulating wall portion and for avoiding spurious output signals resulting from the generation of positive ions by that electron bombardment.
Abstract: A photosensitive layer comprising primarily lead monoxide is deposited on a signal electrode of a vidicon camera tube target. The deposition is carried out in an atmosphere containing oxygen and deuterium oxide. The vidicon target formed exhibits improved transient response leg properties and hole transport characteristics.

Abstract: A photoconductive body of antimony trisulfide is coated on one surface with a layer of an insulating material having particles of a conductive metal dispersed throughout. When used as a target for a vidicon type camera tube, the metal particle-containing insulating layer lowers the dark current of the tube without affecting the photocurrent or spectral response.

Abstract: A major surface of a cadmium selenide body is exposed within a reactive sputtering apparatus to controlled bombardment with electrons, and to controlled simultaneous reactive sputter deposition of an overlayer including aluminum and oxygen.
Abstract: 1. A television camera tube comprising an elongated envelope, an electron gun in one end of said envelope for producing an electron beam, a target electrode in the other end of said envelope and in the path of said beam, said target electrode comprising a transparent conductive coating, a N-type photoconductor on said coating, a P-type photoconductor on said N-type photoconductor, another N-type photoconductor on said P-type photoconductor, a rectifying junction formed between each adjacent pair of said photoconductors and means for applying a reverse bias across at least one of said junctions.
Abstract: A low dark current photoconductive body includes an aluminum oxide overlayer on a cadmium selenide base layer. A transition region is provided at the interface region between the base layer and the overlayer and consists of a graded transition of cadmium and selenium with increasing amounts of aluminum and oxygen. An alternative body is disclosed omitting the overlayer. A blocking contact is provided within a portion of the body including the overlayer and/or the transition region.
