  • Patent number: 6076226
Abstract: A controlled self operating vacuum cleaning system which comprises a stationary housing for the storage of a mobile vacuum cleaner apparatus and where the housing is provided with an automatically openable and closable closure allowing exit and entry of the mobile vacuum cleaner unit. The mobile unit is driven by an internal drive motor which is powered by one or more batteries carried by the mobile vacuum cleaner unit. At preestablished times and preestablished time intervals, the closure of the housing will automatically open providing for ingress and egress and the mobile vacuum cleaner unit will exit and randomly clean the carpet of a certain specified area for a predetermined time period. The mobile vacuum cleaner unit is provided with obstacle detectors for causing the mobile unit to move beyond an obstacle, if it contacts an obstacle, as well as detectors for detecting the edge of a staircase and the edge of a carpet to cause the mobile unit to remain on the carpeted area.

  • Patent number: 5442526
Abstract: A reflector illuminating system for reflecting light incident on a reflector to provide a unique lighting effect and which is preferably, although not necessarily exclusively used, in connection with automotive vehicles. The reflector illuminating lighting system comprises an elongate frame with a light disposed in the frame for generating light to be incident upon a reflector normally provided on the vehicle, or other reflector which may be mounted on the vehicle for decorative purposes. The frame is mounted on the vehicle, or other supporting structure, in a position adjacent to an edge of the reflector so that generated light will be incident on the reflector at a substantial angle to the perpendicular surface of the reflector. The lighting system is provided with a wiring arrangement for connection to a source of electrical power. When used on a vehicle, the lighting system is connected to the electrical circuit of the vehicle itself.

  • Patent number: 5031791
Abstract: An electronic enclosure case comprised of first and second case sections or so-called "shells" having mating abuttable rims. A plurality of spaced apart hooks extend outwardly from the rim on one of the case sections and are adapted for insertion into openings formed in the rim of the opposite case section. The hooks and the openings are sized and shaped so that the hooks will extend into the openings to enable the rims to abut against one another. When one of the case sections is thereafter moved in a plane parallel to the surface of the rims relative to the other case section, the hooks become latched in the openings and, there is a tight fitting retention of the two case sections so that the electronic enclosure casing cannot be unauthorizedly opened. The hooks and the openings are further constructed so that by squeezing the side walls on one of the case sections, the hooks will become released from the openings.

  • Patent number: 4403449
Abstract: An apparatus for shifting a gate from a closed position to an opened position and from the open position to the closed position with respect to an access opening. The apparatus comprises a housing with a motor in the housing, as for example, an electric motor. A drive shaft extends outwardly from the housing and is operable by the motor by means of a drive mechanism. A drive arm is connected to the outer end of the drive shaft, outwardly of the housing, and is rotatable thereby. The drive arm is designed to permit a lever arm or a lever arm assembly to be coupled thereto and which is also capable of being coupled to a gate for moving the same between the opened and closed positions. Further, the apparatus comprises a shaft coupling mechanism operatively associated with the drive arm for coupling the drive arm to the drive shaft so that the drive arm is rotatable with the drive shaft when the motor is operated.

  • Patent number: 4109384
Abstract: A dental tool assembly for performing dental work on the teeth or restorations in the oral cavity of a human being. The dental tool assembly comprises a handle having an elongated hand-grip portion. The hand-grip portion is provided with an aperture in one end thereof to receive a dental tool portion. The dental tool portion is provided with a securement end extendible into the aperture and a working end on the opposite end of the dental tool portion. The securement end of the dental tool portion is inserted in the aperture and, in one embodiment, is soldered therein so that it is retentively held onto the handle. After a period of use, the tool portion of the assembly may be removed by merely heating the joint area between the hand-grip and the tool. In another embodiment of the invention, the securement end of the dental tool portion is threadedly secured in the aperture of the hand-grip portion.
