Patent number: 7507101Abstract: A socket connector that is capable of supporting and blocking a chip module therein includes an insulating body, a plurality of conductive terminals and a plate-like blocking frame. The conductive terminals are provided in the insulating body. Four sides of the plate-like blocking frame enclose to form an accommodating space. The rear portion of the plate-like blocking frame is pivotally connected to the rear portion of the insulating body. The front portion of the plate-like blocking frame is locked to the front portion of the insulating body. Two adjacent sides of the plate-like blocking frame extend respectively to form a piece body having an abutting portion. The abutting portion extends into the accommodating space, so that the chip module can be pushed in position accurately to obtain a good electrical connection with the socket connector.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 2007Date of Patent: March 24, 2009Assignee: Molex IncorporatedInventor: Chun-Hsiang Chiang

Patent number: 7494361Abstract: A card edge connector that allows the insertion of an electric card includes an insulating body, a plurality of terminals, and two metallic pieces. Each of the two metallic pieces includes a substrate, an elastic arm connected to the substrate, and a locking portion connected to the upper edge of the free end of the elastic arm. The locking portion has a curved bottom surface and a smooth bottom surface. The smooth bottom surface is adjacent to the curved bottom surface. When locked, the curved bottom surface of the locking portion presses and locks the electric card. When the curved bottom surface loosens due to vibrations of the electric card, the smooth bottom surface of the locking portion presses and locks the electric card firmly. Therefore, the locking effect is increased, and the electric card is prevented from loosening and bounding upwardly.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2007Date of Patent: February 24, 2009Assignee: Molex CorporationInventor: Yi-Tse Ho

Patent number: 7445482Abstract: A card edge connector includes an insulating body, a plurality of terminals, and two metallic pieces. The insulating body has a body portion and two side frames. The body portion has an insertion slot. The top and bottom surfaces within the insertion slot have a plurality of flanges. The advantage of the present invention lies in that the interior of the insertion slot has a plurality of flanges. Therefore, the insertion slot can be made wider to facilitate the insertion of an electric card and prevent the phenomenon that the electric card cannot be inserted into the insertion slot due to the deformation of the insertion slot. When the electric card is inserted, the flanges abut against the upper and lower surfaces of the electric card, so that the electric card can be stably fixed in the insertion slot. As a result, the electric card has greater stability.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2007Date of Patent: November 4, 2008Assignee: Molex IncorporatedInventor: Yi-Tse Ho

Patent number: 7399206Abstract: A coaxial connector for connection with a coaxial cable has an insulative sleeve, a connection member, and a conductive terminal. The connection member is a tubular conductive structure. The insulative sleeve is positioned in the connection member. The connection member has an inscribed surface formed at a rear end thereof. The conductive terminal has a positioning recess formed at a rear end thereof for soldering with a core of the coaxial cable. A conductive layer of the coaxial cable is penetrated into the rear end of the connection member and is adjacent to the inscribed surface for soldering with the connection member. Therefore, the connection between the coaxial cable and the coaxial connector is easy, and the position of the coaxial cable is accurate. Moreover, because it is not necessary to spread the conductive layer of the coaxial cable, it maintains a better electrical property, so as to have a broad application, a wide range of frequency, and a high stability and small loss of signals thereof.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 2005Date of Patent: July 15, 2008Assignee: Molex IncorporatedInventor: Jung-Tsung Tsao

Patent number: 7371103Abstract: A connector, such as an edge card connector, is provided with positive locking ejection latches. The positive locking of the ejection latches ensure that an associated card inserted into the connector will not accidentally be ejected under shock and vibration conditions. To use the ejection latches, a locking member provided in association with the ejections latches must be disabled.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2006Date of Patent: May 13, 2008Assignee: Molex IncorporatedInventors: James L. Patent number: 7297007Abstract: A conductive terminal and the electrical connector using the conductive terminal, the conductive terminal is received in a terminal channel defined in an insulative housing of the electrical connector which can transmit signal between an electronic component and a circuit board. The conductive terminal has a first wall, a second wall connecting with the first wall in a certain angle and a third wall connecting with the second wall in a certain angle and opposite to the first wall. The conductive terminal forms a mounting portion connecting with the solder ball. The mounting portion comprises a horizontal portion extending and bending from end of the first wall toward the third wall, and a vertical portion of the third wall and corresponding to the horizontal portion in a certain angle. The horizontal portion and the vertical portion adhere to the solder ball in two different directions so as to steadily locate the solder ball.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 2004Date of Patent: November 20, 2007Assignee: Molex IncorporatedInventor: Yin Hao

Patent number: 7275938Abstract: A socket (10) for a semiconductor package having a plurality of solder balls (5) at its bottom surface. The socket (10) includes a socket body having a plurality of contacts (11) arranged in a shape to correspond in arrangement to the solder balls (5) of the semiconductor package. Each of the contacts (11) has a first and second contact piece contactable with the corresponding solder ball (5) while clamping the corresponding solder ball (5) from both side. The socket (10) includes a placing plate (13) capable of moving between a first position and a second position. The first, or semiconductor placing, position is where the semiconductor package is placed on the placing plate (13) without contact of the solder balls (5) of the semiconductor package with the first and second contact pieces, and the second, or contact, position is where the solder balls (5) of the placed semiconductor package are contactable with the corresponding first and second contact pieces.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2002Date of Patent: October 2, 2007Assignee: Molex IncorporatedInventors: Tomohiro Nakano, Kiyoshi Adachi, Akira Kaneshige

Patent number: 7244136Abstract: A ZIF electrical connector comprises a base and a sliding cover. The base defines a plurality of terminal-receiving cavities receiving a plurality of conductive terminals. The cover moves along a first direction and defines a plurality of through holes corresponding to the terminal-receiving cavities. The base defines a recess portion partly slant with the first direction. A slider moves in the recess portion and has a body and part of the body intervening with the cover. A drive means extends into the insulative housing and contacts with the body of the slider. When the drive means operates out of the insulative housing, the drive means drives the body to move along a second direction slant the first direction and further drive the cover to displace along the first direction between a first position and a second position.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 2004Date of Patent: July 17, 2007Assignee: Molex IncorporatedInventor: Yin Hao

Patent number: 7214067Abstract: A hinge for an electronic device, such as a notebook computer, a personal digital assistant, a cellular telephone, a portable compact disc player and the like, includes a body member and at least one contact provided on the body member. Structure is provided for electrically connecting each contact to a first portion of the electronic device. Structure is also provided for connecting each contact to a second portion of the electronic device. The hinge can be repeatedly used without wear or rubbing action because the ends of the contacts always remain connected to the electrical components of the upper and lower portions of the electronic device. If damaged, only the hinge needs to be replaced and the connections to the electronic device reinstated.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2003Date of Patent: May 8, 2007Assignee: Molex IncorporatedInventor: Victor Zaderej
