Patent number: 4138928Abstract: This invention is directed to fluid actuated apparatus for automatically restricting the flow of fluid in conduits leading to and/or from fluid actuated cylinder means for causing pivotal movement of a member, such as the turret carrying the boom and bucket of a backhoe, so that the speed of pivotal movement of the member is rapid during one portion of its pivotal movement but is automatically reduced during a predetermined portion of its subsequent pivotal movement, thereby minimizing failures of the components of the member and the fluid system and improving the braking action for reducing the speed of pivotal movement of the member. In one embodiment, both the flow of fluid to the operative fluid actuated cylinder and the flow of fluid from the inoperative fluid actuated cylinder are restricted substantially simultaneously by fluid restricting means so that the linear velocities of the rods of both cylinders are reduced substantially simultaneously by the fluid restricting means.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 1977Date of Patent: February 13, 1979Assignee: Ware Machine Service Inc.Inventor: John S. Patent number: 4134574Abstract: This disclosure is directed to a device for stringing an electrical conductor on an insulator above the ground for aerial power distribution or transmission. The stringing device includes first and second semi-tubular members each of which has an outwarddly extending flange at one end and means for detachably securing the semi-tubular members together to form a circular passage between them. One embodiment also includes first ear means projecting outwardly from one side of the flange means of the first semi-tubular member, second ear means projecting outwardly from one side of the outwardly extending flange of the second semi-tubular member, the ear means includes transverse orifices which register with each other when the semi-tubular members are detachably secured together and means passing through the registering orifices for preventing complete separation of the semi-tubular members when the means for detachably securing them together is released.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 1977Date of Patent: January 16, 1979Assignee: Hendrix Wire & Cable Corp.Inventors: Leonard P. Jean, Ernest J. LaChance, Sr.

Patent number: 4120477Abstract: This invention is directed to a mold for injection molding a sole onto an upper made of textile, vinyl, suede, leather, or any other suitable materials in which the lower periphery of the sole slopes downwardly and inwardly and forms a downwardly extending continuation of the peripheral face of the bumper. The mold is capable of using a single sole plate to produce a shoe in which the bumper and integral first sole part is formed of one color, a second sole part is formed of another color and the periphery of the second sole part is visible from the sides and ends of the shoe beneath the bumper. The upper surface of the sole plate of the mold includes an upstanding peripheral fin. The sole plate is capable of producing a skid-resistant surface on the bottom of the second sole part.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 1977Date of Patent: October 17, 1978Assignee: Suave Shoe CorporationInventor: Juan Justamante

Patent number: 4120149Abstract: An electronic watch which is both thin and water resistant. The watch comprises a back, a bezel and an electronically controlled module for digitally displaying a time signal. Its crystal includes an upper member the lower surface of which is adjacent to the upper surface of the module, a first flange extending downwardly from the edge of the upper member adjacent to the side of the module and a second flange which extends laterally outwardly from the bottom of the first flange. Contact means is provided which has a longitudinal portion sealed into the first flange and an inner end which is electrically connected to the module. A plunger is mounted for axial movement in a bore in the bezel and its inner end is engageable with the contact means. A sealing member is positioned between the second flange of the crystal and an upper surface of the back. It also includes means for holding the upper surface of the back against the sealing member.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1977Date of Patent: October 17, 1978Assignee: Textron, Inc.Inventor: Richard Edward Ripley

Patent number: 4096688Abstract: This disclosure is directed to expansible linkages for expansible wrist watch bracelets, identification bracelets and similar articles which permit the retail jeweler to quickly and easily adjust the length of a bracelet to fit different size wrists of customers. The bracelet includes two sections of expansible linkages of each of which has a row of top links, a row of bottom links, means interconnecting the links of each row with the links of the other row to provide longitudinal displacement of the links relative to each other from contracted to expanded positions and vice versa. A channel shaped outer member has a series of aligned perforations extending through its side walls. First spring pin means connected to one end of one of the expansible sections has the outer ends of its trunions extending into a first selected pair of the aligned perforations.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 1977Date of Patent: June 27, 1978Assignee: Textron Inc.Inventor: Kurt Albert Rieth

Patent number: 4092638Abstract: An electric-optic display device having an electrically controllable optical means for selectively indicating one of the seven days of the week by means of a combination of two letters. The device comprises two arrays, a first array composed of a plurality of segments arranged in such a pattern that all of the letters positioned in the first place of the seven combinations expressing the 7 days of the week can be indicated. The second array is composed of a plurality of segments arranged in such a pattern that all of the letters positioned in the second place of the seven combinations can be indicated. The first letters of the days of the week are formed in uppercase letters, the second letters of certain days of some days of the week are formed about one-half as high as the first letters of the days of the week and the second letter of at least one day of the week is formed as a lowercase letter.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1977Date of Patent: May 30, 1978Assignee: Textron Inc.Inventor: Richard Edward Ripley

Patent number: 4082917Abstract: This disclosure is directed to a spacer for aerial cables for supporting one of more electrical conductor cables above the ground. It includes a body member having at least one concave seat adapted to receive a conductor cable, at least one generally arcuate retaining means adapted to engage a surface of the conductor cable and toggle means adapted to cooperate with the retaining means to firmly hold the conductor cable in its seat. One end of the cable retaining means is pivotally supported on the body member. The toggle means is pivotally supported on the other end of the cable retaining means. The toggle is provided with second ratchet tooth means and also generally arcuate third ratchet tooth means. Ratchet tooth means are also provided on the body member outwardly of the concave seat.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 1977Date of Patent: April 4, 1978Assignee: Hendrix Wire & Cable CorporationInventor: William Louis Hendrix
