  • Patent number: 6285981
Abstract: A speed up speech recognition search method is provided wherein the number of HMM states is determined and a microslot is allocated for Hidden Markov Models (HMMs) below a given threshold level of states. A macroslot treats a whole HMM as a basic unit. The lowest level of macroslot is a phone. If the number of states exceeds the threshold level a microslot is allocated for this HMM.

  • Patent number: 6282512
Abstract: Enhancement of hypertext pages containing graphical images is provided by extracting 102 the ALT tag from the markup language to support selection of the corresponding hypertext link by uttering the ALT tag phrase. We describe how to add a speakable phrase for images without ALT tags. The approach also applies to client image maps that can include ALT tags for individual areas. The steps include parsing to extract possible BASE tags reference and client map (MAP tag) 102, retaining any BASE tag for relative references or, if missing, creating one using the original page reference (103) and for each anchor (A tag) containing a page reference (HREF) but without link text, and using the ALT tag text as the link text (104). In the case of a missing ALT tag, creating unique link text.

  • Patent number: 6226280
Abstract: A method is provided for allocating and de-allocating transmission resources in a local multipoint distribution services system. In the method, one of an off-hook after idle signal and an incoming call request signal is detected. A frequency and a time slot for a call are assigned at a base system in response to the detection of the off-hook after idle signal or the incoming call request signal.
