  • Patent number: 6202784
Abstract: A stethoscope having a light source includes a stethoscope head and flexible tubing coupled to the stethoscope head and in communication with ear pieces for the detection and transmission of sounds from a patient's body. A casing is affixed to a cover of the stethoscope head and has a light source mounted therein. A switch is operable mounted on the casing for activating and deactivating the light source. Notches extend intermediate the casing and cover for grasping the same during use. A first end of the casing is disposed toward a perimeter of the cover and has an aperture through which light is emitted. The first end is adapted for mounting thereon various instrument heads as an otoscope or opthalomoscope. The first end may extend beyond the perimeter of the cover for mounting thereon the instrument heads. In an alternative embodiment, the casing is detachably secured to the flexible tubing of the stethoscope.

  • Patent number: 6168480
Abstract: A push pole for propelling a boat comprising an elongated straight pole having a first and second end and a foot extending from the second end of the elongated pole. The foot consists of two prongs where the first prong extends coaxially in relation to the elongated pole and the second prong has an arcuate shape disposed towards the first prong. The first prongs has a spiraled configuration between a spade-like terminus and the elongated pole. The second prong has a spade-like terminus. The configuration of the foot provides for efficient insertion and release of the prongs from the floor of a waterway.

  • Patent number: 6109827
Abstract: The system includes a plurality of flood plains. Each flood plain contains a plurality of plants and each plant is held in a pot. The flood plains are excavated at different elevations from an upper most elevation to a lower most elevation. The flood plains are sequentially flooded for a resident time period with a selected volume of water directed from a water source. As the flood plains are excavated to different elevations, gravity, and a series of flood gates, control the water flow from one flood plain to a next lower flood plain. Each flood plain has a top surface and an underlying bed comprising a soil and clay composition. The surface of each bed is contoured to adequately drain water from one flood plain to the next. This clay mixture firms the bed to adequately support vehicles and laborers to prevent depressions in the bed which may adversely affect water flow in and out of a flood plain. Each of the flood plains is lined with a water impermeable membrane.

  • Patent number: 5305472
Abstract: A toilet ventilation unit including a vacuum motor mounted in the wall voids surrounding the toilet that is connected to the back of the tank and utilizes the water passageway of a conventional toilet to draw odors and aromas from the toilet. A vacuum shut off valve is mounted adjacent the back of the tank and is actuated concomitantly with the rising and lowering of the water level to cut off the air flow from the toilet. An additional valve is also mounted adjacent the tank to act in opposition to the shut-off valve and provide relief from the vacuum created from the drop of the water level during flushing. A release valve is adjacent the vacuum motor to draw air from an air source alternative to the toilet, when the shut-off valve is activated.

  • Patent number: 5257887
Abstract: A collection container adapted to be lifted and emptied with a grasping device. The container forms an enclosure with two sections each having a projection and being pivotally connected to each other. The sections are held together with a spring. The container includes an opening to receive objects. The spring tension is set so that the grasping device can lift the container by the projections without the section separating. The projections are angled on the enclosure so that if the grasping device were to squeeze the projections together the two sections would pivotally open and dump the objects in a bin. A trough is coupled to a slot on the container to prevent the container's contents from being pilfered.
