Abstract: A contact type image sensor includes a light source for illuminating an original to be read and a substrate in which an optical fiber array member is assembled. The substrate is disposed such that one end of the optical fiber array member faces the original for transmitting a reflected light from the illuminated original therethrough. The contact type image sensor further includes a light detecting element array formed on the substrate and facing the other end of the optical fiber array member for receiving the transmitted light and converting the received light to an electrical signal. The contact type image sensor also includes a driving circuit disposed on the substrate and electrically connected to the light detecting element array for driving the light detecting element array.
Abstract: A driving circuit of a semiconductor laser includes a photodiode receiving a light of the semiconductor laser, a first detecting circuit for calculating a mean value signal of outputs of the semiconductor laser in accordance with an output of the photodiode, a second detecting circuit for calculating a maximum value signal of the outputs of the semiconductor laser, a circuit receiving the mean value signal for supplying a bias current for driving the semiconductor laser, a high-frequency superimposing circuit for modulating the bias current by high-frequency waves, and a modulating degree control circuit comparing the mean value signal with the maximum value signal for making a period of time for which the minimum value of the optical output values of the semiconductor laser becomes zero, in accordance with the comparison results.
Abstract: A syringe tip cap and a method for purging air from a syringe-like container containing air and hazardous liquid. The cap contains a hydrophilic filter which, when dry, allows air to pass through the filter. When the air is purged from the syringe, liquid from the container is pushed or drawn to the filter. The filter expands when wetted, seals the cap, and prevents further fluid flow. A flow restrictor may be included within the cap to concentrate the flow to only a portion of the filter to prevent premature sealing of the filter.
Abstract: A silicon carbide semiconductor device is disclosed which includes a silicon carbide single-crystal layer and at least one ohmic electrode in contact with the silicon carbide single-crystal layer, wherein the ohmic electrode is made of a titanium-aluminum alloy. Also disclosed is a method of producing the silicon carbide semiconductor device.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an arrangement of the color filters of a solid state imaging device for the frame storing operation, two of the four color filters F1, F2, F3 and F4 having the different spectral characteristics from each other are selected and laminated, wherein F1*F2 and F3*F4 are alternately arranged in a horizontal direction, while F2*F3 and F1* F4 are alternately arranged in the horizontal direction while being spaced one horizontal scanning period away from the former line so that the visible spectral characteristics of the three color filters are agreed in each region of the spectral band of the received light, and the combination of the three color filters is different for each region.
Abstract: An optical system driving device comprising: a lamp unit which emits an optical beam for scanning an object and moves with respect to the object; a photosensitive member which receives a reflection light reflected from the object; a mirror unit which is disposed on an optical path between the lamp unit and the photosensitive member for guiding the reflection light to the photosensitive member and moves at a predetermined speed ratio with respect to the lamp unit; and a rack-pinion means connected to the lamp unit and the mirror unit to move the units at the predetermined speed ratio. Thereby it becomes possible to simplify the structure of the device and easily adjust the relative position between the lamp unit and the mirror unit at the time of assembling the device. Also, the speed ratio between the lamp unit and the mirror unit can be easily adjusted to be a predetermined ratio.
Abstract: Voidable articles are made with an identification code and a radiant energy responsive material coated over said code. The material is invisible and remains unactivated in ambient light but obscures the identification code upon being exposed to radiant energies such as heat or light from within a particular wavelength range. Printing can be accomplished by imaging light onto a substrate coated with photosensitive material including an infrared absorbing dye. A cancellation device for voiding documents of the present invention is made with a scanner, a comparator and a radiant energy source for exposing the document to activate the energy responsive material on the document.
Abstract: A text processing method and apparatus for storing inputted text data and for printing newly stored text data on paper on which text characters have been previously printed. The previously printed paper is set in a printer. New text data is input through a keyboard. The new text data is stored serially with the previously printed text data. Upon receiving a print instruction, the text data is serially searched. The paper is fed without printing whenever previously printed text data is searched. Characters are printed when the new text data is come across in the search.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for detecting low altitude wind shear through the use of autocorrelation on the received and processed echo signals. Self Autocorrelation of echo signals and autocorrelation of echo signals from consecutive pulses are used to calculate the low altitude Doppler velocities over distance. In an alternate embodiment, autocorrelation of echo signals from alternate pulses is also required. Wind shear is calculated from low altitude Doppler velocity as a function of location.
Abstract: A telephone system with a clock includes a circuit which produces a first tone indicating a connection of a transmission line is on hold or that a preset time has arrived, and a different time announcing tone for announcing the arrival of the preset time while the connection of the transmission line is on hold. When a calling tone is to be produced upon reception of the call while the time announcing tone is emitted, the telephone system with the clock produces the calling tone in a manner different from the time announcing tone. Thus, it is possible to be alerted to both the time announcing tone and the holding tone and both the time announcing tone and the calling tone when either combination is initiated at the same time.

Abstract: A transfer roller device for transferring onto a copy paper sheet a full color toner image formed on an intermediate transfer belt. A rear-surface electrode roller disposed at the opposite side to a transfer roller with the intermediate transfer belt positioned in between, is divided into a plurality of cylinder members, and at least one of the cylinder members corresponding to the size of a copy paper sheet is separately connected to ground. With the arrangement, occurrence of an excess current through a portion of the intermediate transfer belt carrying no copy paper sheet thereon is eliminated, thereby preventing a filming phenomenon. In another arrangement, a plurality of rear-surface electrode rollers are disposed at respective positions associated with a plurality of respective copying speeds which are set according to copy paper sheets. Thus, a voltage to be applied between the transfer roller and the rear-surface electrode roller is maintained constant regardless of different copying speeds.

Abstract: A magneto-optical recording/reproducing device having a slider provided with a magnetic head. The slider floats over a magneto-optical disk when the magneto-optical disk is in rotation. The slider is supported by a suspension. A depressing force is exerted on the slider vertically by the suspension. The depressing force is adjusted by an adjustment device so that the depressing force due to the suspension increases as the slider shifts to an outer part of the magneto-optical disk from an inner part. Thus a floating gap between the slider and the magneto-optical disk becomes substantially constant irrespective of a radial position on the magneto-optical disk and a magnetic field intensity applied onto the magneto-optical disk from the slider (the magnetic head) becomes constant. As a result, stable recordomg, reproducing and erasing operations can be carried out.

The sheet supplying device includes a movable cassette for placing the sheet thereon and movable to at least two transport positions so as to transport the sheet therefrom in at least two transport directions, a fixed cassette for placing the sheet thereon and fixed in one transport position so as to transport the sheet therefrom in one transport direction, a transport device for transporting the sheet from each of the movable cassette and the fixed cassette to the sheet supplied apparatus.
