Abstract: A pre-heater arrangement in a heat regenerative engine for pre-heating water in its delivery path from a condenser sump to a combustion chamber. The engine includes a steam generator, including the combustion chamber, for producing pressurized steam. The engine further includes at least one piston and cylinder arrangement for receiving the pressurized steam in order to drive the piston within the cylinder, and a condenser for condensing steam to liquid. A conduit formed of a heat transferring material provides the delivery path from the condenser sump to the combustion chamber. The pre-heater arrangement includes at least one exhaust port associated with the cylinder for releasing steam from within the cylinder after driving the piston, and a tubular coil connected to the steam delivery conduit and wound about the cylinder, adjacent to the exhaust port, for transferring heat from the exhausted steam to the water traveling through the coil, thereby heating the water on its delivery path to the steam generator.

Abstract: An expansion joint curb assembly includes one or more pre-formed component structures fabricated from a non-corrosive, durable material. Each of the component structures include an anchoring flange for attachment to the roof structure, an upper flange defining a mounting base for attachment of various roofing components, such as expansion joint covers thereto, and an intermediate portion between the anchoring flange and the upper flange. The intermediate portion is provided with vent holes for venting gasses and moisture which accumulate within the roof structure, thereby reducing the likelihood of premature roof failure.

Abstract: The present invention 10 discloses a forearm support member or saddle 16 which is placed under the forearm of the user near the hand grip 18 whereby the user has better control of the fishing rod. The saddle member 16 is designed to relieve stress on the wrist of the user and to aid the user in fighting bigger fish. The saddle member 16 is also used to control the pressure on the rod from the underarm area of the user for use when the user is bottom fishing with the rod. Also shown is a rod member 12 having a longer rear portion 14 and a shorter front portion 20 having an angular hand grip 18 thereinbetween and further having a saddle member 16 mounted thereon. A locking member 34, 36, 38 is shown for placement of the fishing reel 26 onto the forward member 20. Also, the forward rod member 20 has an aperture 40 or other means for receiving the butt of a fishing rod or fishing rod blank.

Abstract: An electromechanical lock includes a housing containing a microcontroller, a power source, a cam, and a locking lever for holding a U-shaped lock bar in a closed, locked position within the housing. The lock further includes several buttons on the housing for entering a sequence of alphanumeric characters of a combination code and a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) for showing the alphanumeric characters, independently, when entering the code. Messages may also be displayed, including advertisements and company logos, upon completion of a correct code entry to open the lock. The microcontroller stores one or more combination codes and message data and controls actuation of the cam, upon entry of the correct combination code, to momentarily release the lever from the lock bar, allowing the lock bar to be pulled out from the housing, thereby opening the lock.

Abstract: A device for removing staples and tacks includes an upper jaw and a lower jaw pivotally connected to one another, the upper jaw including spaced, parallel teeth disposed in opposing relation to spaced, parallel teeth on the lower jaw. A wedge member extends from the upper jaw, between the teeth thereof and terminates at an acute distal edge beyond pointed distal ends of the teeth. A flat outer surface of the wedge member is angled slightly outward relative to the upper teeth so that the distal edge is disposed at an optimum angle of attack to slide under the staple or tack when closing the jaws, and an inner bearing surface of the wedge member is structured and disposed for engaging and initiating prying of the staple or tack from the object as the upper and lower jaws are further closed toward a closed position, thereby enabling the teeth of the jaws to pass under and engage the staple or tack to complete removal thereof from the object.

Abstract: A chiropractic mallet instrument for delivering a selected impact to the spinal vertebrae and or other bones of a patient in order to remove a vertebral subluxation and or other subluxations includes a tubular housing with a central handle movably supported thereon, a compression spring engaging a latch assembly and an elongate anvil member coaxially and movably fitted within an interior of the housing and extending from one end thereof, the anvil member including a distal end zone with a distal tip structured for removable attachment of various impact heads of different sizes, shapes and densities, the anvil member being axially movable relative to a longitudinal axis of the housing between a retracted, cocked position and an extended, released position. The latch assembly is operably interconnected to the central handle and carries and holds the anvil member in the retracted, cocked position upon movement of the central handle towards a palm handle on an opposite end of the housing.

Abstract: A data collection device and a method of collecting data using the device is disclosed, the device including a housing having a front face, back panel, opposite sides and base, and a visual character display on the front face for providing instructional information to a user of the device. A central processor unit within the housing stores data, including preprogrammed data and collected data in a primary memory, and controls operation of the components of the device, including an optical mark reader structured to pull a pre-printed data card through a first slot opening for scanning thereof in order to identify darkened spaces on the card. The optical mark reader transfers data, based on the identified darkened spaces, to the central processor for matching, consolidation and storage along with corresponding preprogrammed data stored in a primary memory.

A riser defined by a hollow tubular elongate member having a metal ball movably contained therein is releasably attachable to the base member so that it extends in substantially perpendicular relation to the base member, the ball striking opposite ends of the tubular member at predetermined positions throughout a proper golf swing to audibly indicate proper alignment and orientation of the golf club and hands, at various positions of the swing. The base member can be used independently as a grip teaching aid or in combination with the tubular member to also practice and develop a proper golf swing.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for treating colic in infants including an elongate, belt-like device comprised of two-layers of fabric and hook and loop fasteners at opposite ends for securing the device about an infants lower torso. The belt may also include a third layer of rubber or similar air impermeable material, encased between the two layers for trapping heat between the device and the infants body. In treating colic, the belt is wrapped snugly about the infants lower torso, overlying the bellybutton region applying warmth and slight pressure to thereby relieve discomfort.

Abstract: An apparatus for soaking and cleaning articles in a cleaning solution includes a primary cleaning chamber for containing a predetermined volume of the cleaning solution therein and a filter assembly including a filtration sheet pulled from a supply across a drainage trough for removing contaminants from the cleaning solution. A sensor activates movement and replacement of saturated sections of the filtration sheet upon detecting a rise of fluid level in the drainage trough. A fan forced electronic heater supplies heat to an oxidation chamber for thermal oxidation of refuse placed therein, the resulting flue gasses being directed through a heat transfer duct, wherein heat is transferred to the solution contained in the cleaning chamber; the flue gasses exiting through a flue stack.

Abstract: A cover for attachment to a traffic light is provided including a transparent shell having an aerodynamically configured outer surface and a peripheral edge surrounding an interior of the cover, the peripheral edge including a seal thereabout to prevent moisture from entering the interior and accumulating on an inner surface of the cover when attached to the traffic light. Once attached, the cover provides an overall aerodynamic configuration to the combined traffic light and cover assembly while permitting visibility of the traffic signal lights through the transparent shell.

Abstract: An apparatus for testing the strength and performance of various building structures, such as doors, windows, storm shutters and panels, under hurricane type conditions, the apparatus including a vertically supported wall and a movable test structure mounting and support assembly including a frame for supporting a building structure to be tested. The frame is movably attachable in sealed engagement to a front face of the wall, such that the test structure is disposed in close, spaced relation to the wall, creating an air tight cavity between the building structure and the front face, wherein airflow is selectively delivered to or removed from the cavity by a diverter valve along an airflow conduit connecting between an air passage hole in the wall and to a high volume, low pressure blower. A computer controls the diverter valve and monitors pressure in the cavity to selectively control and rapidly change the cavity pressure through a range of predetermined positive and negative pressure levels.

Abstract: A projection apparatus creates laser generated visible images utilizing the interference of light principle, and includes individual laser projection devices, positioned and disposed in opposite sets, each structured to emit a select color laser beam which is modified and split by optical phase modulators and beam splitters, respectfully, to form an array of beams which intersect with beams from the oppositely disposed laser projectors to produce the desired multi-colored image. The apparatus is supported above or below the desired area of the generated image with the laser devices mounted on computer controlled motorized swivel mounts, providing the capability to selectively locate the produced images at various preprogrammed locations within a defined area.
