Abstract: An automatic titration device for use in either batch processing or a continuous processing mode to identify quantitative fluid properties. The device consists of a plurality of reservoirs each connected to a respective plurality of pumps. A central computer controls individual pump speeds and therefore the pump output mix through a delivery tube that delivers fluid mixture through an ultrasonic mixer to a mixing tube whereupon a color detector is disposed to detect indicator color changes of the liquid for providing indication back to the central computer for calculation of fluid presence, fluid equivalent points, and related fluid properties.
Abstract: An electrically insulative gap sub for inclusion in a drill string that consists of upper and lower threaded joint members, an inner sleeve connected to extend axially from the upper joint member, an outer sleeve connected to the lower joint member and extending in concentric spacing over the inner sleeve, and a plurality of differently configured, annular blocks of insulative gap material serially arrayed and filling the void in between inner and outer sleeves. The gap material is a high performance molded resin capable of transmitting the requisite torque, tensile and compressive forces encountered along the drill string.
Abstract: A shock absorber device for inclusion in a tool string to provide rapid shock dissipation for shock forces traveling up or down the string. The device includes a tubular mandrel and an outer casing that forms an annular chamber therearound. At least one annular piston and one or more metering sleeves are formed integral with the outer casing and function to divide the annular chamber into a plurality of annular chambers that are filled with either nitrogen gas or silicone oil under selected pressures. Thus, the mandrel supports the lower tool string resiliently due to the fluid supported annular pistons such that any shock wave traveling along the tool string will be rapidly dissipated at the fluid piston interfaces.
Abstract: An oil skimming and utility vessel for operation in significant seas which functions to calm wave action for further oil contaminant separation operations or other marine utility operations. The vessel is a barge having forward tank compartmentation with a large stern compartment formed as sides and bottom tank open to incoming surface wave action from astern. The stern compartment then houses one or more serially arranged combinations of wave dampeners, distributors and conveyors, and baffle structure which functions to calm incoming surface water and/or contaminated oil/water mixtures. In oil skimming operation a porous-type oil stripping conveyor is employed in primary oil removal with a subsequent secondary oil skimming operation in the calm water forward portion of the stern compartment. Alternatively, the stern compartment is configured with the dampener, conveyor and baffle structure to protect a calm water, surface level work station.
Abstract: An indirect lighting assembly consisting of a housing structure and low voltage light tubing for retention therein, said housing structure being a unitarily extruded body having an anchor tab portion extending perpendicularly into a spacer portion and terminating in a light tube housing portion having an open area directing light generally perpendicular to the plane of said spacer portion.
Abstract: Apparatus for use in combination with a straddle-bed tool box to provide large volume secured storage in a pick-up truck. The apparatus consists of opposite side angle brackets secured to bed side rails to provide rotary support for a closure panel that extends across the pick-up bed. A vertical panel is also secured to extend across the bed as the closure panel may be lockably affixed to the vertical panel to secure the storage volume forward therefrom.
Abstract: A heat insulative barrier for use in isolating potential fire zones relative to expansion joint voids which comprises the use of a sealed sheet of ceramic felt material secured across an expansion void and including one or more refractory cloth sheets sealingly secured contiguous to the ceramic felt sheet on one or both sides thereof and adjacent to the potential fire zone.
Abstract: A method and composition for corrosion protection of metal components of a fluid circulation system utilizing a buffered solution containing perchlorate ion and specific operative additives.
Abstract: Apparatus for covering relatively wider building structure expansion voids which includes a cover panel, base member extrusions for opposite side support and a lazy tong centering assembly for both supportive attachment to the cover panel and maintaining proper alignment and relative positioning to said void in tolerance of orthogonal relative displacements between adjacent structures.
Abstract: A pneumatic pesticide duster for use in the application of pesticide dusts in structures. The apparatus comprises a dust reservoir, compressed air source, manually operated control valve and metallic discharge tube having an opening ranging in size up to about 3/4 inch capable of imparting an electrostatic charge to the expelled air/dust mixture such that dust is attracted to the walls of the structure and to insects therein. The apparatus is easily handled by one person while the amount of pesticide dispensed within the structure and the areas to which the pesticide is confined can be closely controlled.

Abstract: A method for ultrasonic flaw inspection of non-rotating tubular goods using microprocessor central control. The system includes a test head with circumferential arrays of transducers oriented for inspection for each of transverse, longitudinal and wall thickness defects, and the test head includes individual pulser and pre-amplifier arrays as sequentially controlled from a remotely disposed operator console. The console includes signal processing circuitry and sequence controller for developing and displaying defect indications for the test specimen as it is moved longitudinally through the test head. The sequence controller contains resident program for addressably controlling the operational sequence of selected transducer pulsing, return signal reception, gate discrimination, and flaw signal averaging to provide qualified flaw output indication for each of the transverse, longitudinal and wall thickness testing modes.
Abstract: An automated sample analyzer for induction furnace analysis includes an induction furnace having an induction coil housing with an induction coil therein. The coil housing has a lower opening through which a crucible with a sample can be moved to allow the sample to be analyzed by burning. An elevator is provided for raising and lowering a crucible to and from the induction coil through the lower opening and includes a cover for covering the lower opening. A rotatable and radially movable tray has crucible openings for holding a series of crucibles. The tray openings also radially receive the elevator allowing the tray to move out of the way of the cover as it moves with the elevator while the elevator holds a crucible. A drive is provided for moving the tray rotationally and radially in a series of steps such that the crucible receptacle openings are sequentially moved to and from the elevator for automated loading and unloading of the crucibles on the elevator.

The signal processing circuitry includes separate processing channels for each of the transverse, longitudinal and wall thickness transducers, and each channel includes receiver, gate processing and average counter circuitry which develop data signals for output to selected chart and monitor scope indicators.
Abstract: A hydraulic drive apparatus for a wellhead pump jack which utilizes oppositely driven single-acting hydraulic cylinders as actuated by a variable volume pump having flow direction and flow volume controlled by a servo linkage and control lever. The linkage transmits oscillatory sine function motion of the walking beam for movement of the control lever as intermediate biasing force prevents nulling of the system.
Abstract: A flare ignition system for oil well flaring of combustible gases which includes a central control unit, low voltage interconnect line and plural remote igniter units which include alternate first and second spark gaps coordinated in fail-safe operation. Coordination is carried out by pulse counting and validating circuitry which assures that one of the spark gaps will always be ignitable or alarm condition will exist.
Abstract: A method of removing water from earthen pits such as the earthen pits commonly used in the drilling of oil and gas wells for containing reserve drilling fluid is provided. By the method, a plurality of spray nozzles are placed around the periphery of the pit, and the nozzles are directed towards the center of the pit. Water from the pit is pumped through the nozzles whereby the water is sprayed towards the center of the pit and removed therefrom by the evaporation thereof.
